Jonathan Cahn's 'The Josiah Manifesto' a Convergence of Ancient Mysteries Bearing Light on Today

If truth be told, we would all like to have the ability to take a brief glimpse into the future to see what it holds. Obviously, being able to see where your life is headed is important, but in a broader sense, having the ability to see the direction our world is headed can be just as vital.

Many experts believe that the best way to determine what our future holds is firmly rooted in what has transpired in our past. Some would call this having the gift of prophecy, while others chalk it up as pure folly.

In his latest book, The Josiah Manifesto, New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Cahn reveals a blueprint that potentially uncovers an ancient mystery found in Biblical texts. This mystery could reveal a tapestry of stunning circumstances that lie behind recent events that have altered America and the world.

I recently sat down with Cahn to discuss the plausibility of his findings, whether America is headed for calamity, and what we need to know for the days that lie ahead.

If you were trying to convince a friend or family member to pick up a copy and read The Josiah Manifesto, what would you say to them? What would your sales pitch be?

It deals with gigantic things and explosive issues. It’s not like I haven’t written about these issues before but it also leads to why it's called The Josiah Manifesto. It’s the convergence of all these mysteries, things that have been happening in our time involving everything from the Supreme Court to our political realm to COVID to everything. And then it opens up a key, which is the manifesto. How do we live in view of what's coming, where we are prophetically, how do we live for the days ahead? And so, the last part is solely about opening that up. What do we do? How do we stand? How do we overcome this? How do we touch our culture and our world? How do we protect our family? So, that's the manifesto that makes it different in some ways from the others.

You just used the word explosive to describe your book. Considering the success of your previous works and the subject matter, I find that word to be quite a statement. What makes this one so explosive?

Well, what I will say is what if God was pointing us to something, a guide, a blueprint, a template from the Bible that is for now, telling us what we need to know? And what if behind the events of the last few years, from COVID, to the riots, to what's happening to America, there was an ancient mystery that's unfolding, an ancient calendar that actually foretells the events, and even gives the time when they are going to happen? The Josiah Manifesto opens that up. I’m taking the reader on a prophetic journey, putting together puzzle pieces of these mysteries, and they all come together. Then they open up this key, which heads towards Josiah.

All these things are pointing to what I'll call it the Josiah moment. And the Josiah moment is when a nation that has known God has turned away from God, is racing away from God, and is on the verge of judgment on one hand, yet God gives a last chance or an opening for revival. That's exactly when Josiah came. In his time there, they were promoting sexual immorality. They were offering up their children. They were having gender confusion that was part of paganism. And yet, Josiah overcame it all. He went against the flow. Literally, he changed the course of that nation. The entire judgment that was about to fall was postponed for an entire generation because of this one man. So what are the secrets that he has? I would say two thirds of the book are the mysteries coming together, a lot of stunning things. And when they open up, they all point to this Josiah moment, and then the manifesto.

Is God using all these things to give us a revelation and the answer we need to know to prevail in the days to come?

Yes. That's the amazing thing. And that's something that is a bit different from the book, from the other books I've done before. I always end with hope no matter what. But with this one I knew the day that this came to me that I had to do this book. It was the very day that I finished the last words on my last book, which was The Return of the Gods. And people said, “Okay, what do we do? What are you doing?” Well, the interesting thing on that day, the most horrible altar, that being abortion, happened. We've killed 60 million children. Well, the day that I finished the Return of the Gods, that's that day Roe vs. Wade was overturned.

And so, I knew at that moment. And the thing is that all these mysteries come together. The mystery between the plague and the blood of the children. There's also something that involves Donald Trump in The Josiah Manifesto. There's something ultimately there. There's also this ancient calendar where all these shakings that we went through from COVID to the summer of riots and rage, and to what's happened to the Supreme Court. All these things are foretold by this ancient calendar. But all these things came together at the moment when Roe v Wade was overturned because that was an altar. It is the most dramatic altar we have in our culture. And yet it was broken.

We know it's not the end of the story, it's the beginning of the story, but it was broken. Now, the sign of the broken altar, is the Bible fulfilled for this? This is one of the most important signs that comes in the Bible. And you see, whenever there was revival, whenever there was turning to God, the sign was the broken altar. They would go up to the high places and break down the altars of the gods. The other thing is that there's no other person in the Bible that is so identified with the broken altar or that sign as Josiah. Josiah was the one who actually broke the altars where they were offering up their children. His very birth was prophesied over a broken altar. That's where it goes to the Josiah moment, that we are at a very late moment.

America has been racing away from God and is in danger of judgment. On one hand, if it doesn't turn back to God, it is racing to judgment, all these things that are just a foreshadow of it. But on the other hand, this is the same time Josiah comes at this moment when the nation's given a last chance. It's revival or judgment. If we don't have revival, America is lost. America is gone. It's not just a nice thing. We need revival for the very survival of our nation. And so the thing is, that's where we are now. And that's where it opens up the key. Josiah really holds the key. I believe God is pointing all these things to the paradigm of Josiah and the secrets of Josiah. How do we stand? How do you deal with a culture that is dark and is overwhelming to so many, and yet stand and prevail? Well, that's what Josiah opens up. That's what the manifesto is all about.

In this book, you answer some pretty crucial questions. Among them, what does the future hold? Is America headed for calamity? As we have already been discussing, what do I need to survive? And a far reaching query, is there hope? Do you see any of these questions as being the most important?

In the last days, it's not just a time of darkness, it's also a time of darkness and light. If the dark is getting darker, the light has to get brighter. Josiah was radical for God. And one of the problems in America is the churches. God has lost His radicalness in so many ways. I'm not saying everybody, but so many churches are just trying to survive.

We're just going to bend with the times. That's not going to do it. We're in a radical time and we have to become radical for God. One of the mysteries in the last days is that everything kind of returns to where it was in the beginning of the age. You had Israel in the world, you got it back. You had Jerusalem, Jewish hands, you got it back. But at the same time, you had a culture that was pagan anti-Christian. And you're getting that back. It's the Judeo-Christian culture turning back to that, where it was. Well, if everything's going back, it's time for the Church, the people of God, that we go back to where we were at the beginning of the age, which is the Book of Acts. And that's when the Church was not cultural. It was counterculture. It was not status quo, it was revolutionary. It was on fire with no holds barred. Let the chips fall where they may. That's what we need to be right now.

Let’s dial in a bit on hope. Based on everything that you have written and warned your readers about, is there truly hope?

As long as there's God, there's hope. Every single book that I write has heavy things, but they always end with hope. But this one, probably more than any other, but the last hundred pages deal with what do we do in hope? God is never finished. That's one of the amazing things. In the ancient case of Josiah, after he left, they turned back and judgment came. But an entire generation was saved because of Josiah. So what it's saying is that one man, Josiah, was born for this age. He was born for that day. We’ve got to realize that we are born for the age we're in, and we are part of that hope. Until God says to me or someone else to not pray for these people anymore, I will continue to have hope.

After people have read The Josiah Manifesto, what would you like your readers to take away from the experience? What is your greatest hope for the book?

First, your God is real. The God of the Bible is not finished. He's just as real as in the Bible. He is just as real today behind the events. Number two, you are not on the losing side. You're on the winning side. But you have to prevail. You have to rise to it because there was a time for you. There was a plan for you. There was a call for you. God doesn't make any accidents. And if He puts you here, if He caused you to be born at this traumatic hour, it's because He has called you to it. He's appointed you. He will anoint you. He will empower you, but fulfill your calling. You know, we go around once we're on Earth. Once you make the most of it, God has a purpose to go all out. You are not to be worrying about the problem. You are to be part of the answer that God has called for. God puts you in your mother's womb for such a time as this.
