      The Mall or the Manger?

      Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.

    M. Fearghail is my pen name. My full name is Marion William Ferrell. I was born (in 1960), of predominate Irish heritage, and raised in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, in northeast Tennessee. The godly influence of my mother and the independent, stubborn disposition of my father raised me. I'm an educated country boy, with international experience. Formal education includes: A.S. in management, B.S. in religious ministry, and course completion for an M.A. in missiology. Independent studies have educated me further, in several fields. Mrs. Appalachian Irishman and I were missionaries in Russia for five years (1994 - 1999). She's a good wife, who puts up with me.
