Listen to God: Key to Living a Purpose-Driven Life | HealthWealthVictory

Do you want to live a purpose-driven life? One that not only blesses you but also many others around you? The key is listening to God. Here’s how.

Isaiah 50:4-7

4 Lord Yahweh has given me a disciple’s tongue, for me to know how to give a word of comfort to the weary. Morning by morning he makes my ear alert to listen like a disciple.

5 Lord Yahweh has opened my ear and I have not resisted, I have not turned away.

6 I have offered my back to those who struck me, my cheeks to those who plucked my beard; I have not turned my face away from insult and spitting.

7 Lord Yahweh comes to my help, this is why insult has not touched me, this is why I have set my face like flint and know that I shall not be put to shame.

Living a Purpose-Driven life

I used to live directed by my ambitions.

Take up nursing, pass the board, work for 2 years to get hospital experience, go abroad to live and work there, marry and raise a family.

But God in His goodness swooped in and set me in the right direction.

A whole new different, more exciting, more challenging, purpose-driven adventure.

Oh, and He used failure to open my eyes to my frailty without Him.

Early on when I was just starting my nursing career full of myself and eager to embark on the first leg of fulfilling my ambitions, I made 3 medication errors and was asked to resign. From my very first job! What a blow to my confidence.

That’s when I started calling to God for help. That’s when I started to listen to Him for directions everyday, for major and minor things.

That’s when He set me on the path to living a purpose-driven life.

Now I live not to fulfill my ambitions but to follow and fulfill God’s ambitions for my life, His purpose for me in my generation that I know will impact generations to come.

Generally, I have 3 overarching purposes in life that directs everything I do:

  • To know, love, and serve God so I can live happily with Him in this life and the next
  • To go to heaven and bring as many with me as I can
  • To be a source and symbol of God’s blessing.

Specifically, I have 3 major Ephesians 3:20 Lifegoals:

20 Glory belongs to God, whose power is at work in us. By this power he can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Ephesians 3:20

  • Live 120 years, blessed and blessing others like Moses with sight undimmed and vigor abounding. (Genesis 6:3, Deuteronomy 34:7)
  • Make $120 billion per month in recurring residual profits from multiple passive income rivers doing what I love and enjoy working whenever I want with my family and friends in a business empire and financial dynasty God has promised me and I so gratefully receive, giving me and my family, throughout all generations, total time and financial freedom. (2 Samuel 7)
  • Give 90% of my income or profits to the work of God in the world in my generation and generations to come. (Malachi 3:10)

I don’t know how this is going to happen but I know God who makes all things possible and so I rest confidently in Him.

That’s why it doesn’t matter if my family laughs in jest when they hear me speak of these things.

God is not a man that He should lie. And what He says, I know for certain He will do.

7 Lord Yahweh comes to my help, this is why insult has not touched me, this is why I have set my face like flint and know that I shall not be put to shame. Isaiah 50

How did I know God gave me these?

It starts with listening to God for directions.

Listening to God for directions

It started simply after I received Him as my personal Lord and Savior when I was in the second year of college in a friend’s comfort room.

I began to hunger to know Him in a personal way.

I subscribed to any Christian magazine and publication I can take a hold of.

Scriptures started coming alive for me.

I’ll ask God a question in my heart, regarding Him or something I should do, and I will find answers – in the bible, in sermons, in people speaking to me, in circumstances, in doors of opportunities opening and closing, in songs, in books.

Prayer times are spent listening to Him, sometimes reading scriptures or books, or just being with Him – in my room, in Blessed Sacrament adoration chapels, in churches after mass.

And then I write my prayer reflections on my journal like what I’m doing now long before the Lord told me to publish my daily reflections on this blog.

I only started formatting my journal this way when the Lord told me to publish these on the blog daily so it’s easy for me to post. I just copy paste it on WordPress from Google Doc where I write it and then just edit.

Morning by morning he makes my ear alert to listen like a disciple.5 Lord Yahweh has opened my ear and I have not resisted, I have not turned away.
Isaiah 50

I developed a prayer life, speaking and listening to God while walking or biking, doing menial chores, working, spending time with family.

Of course, I still make mistakes, I sin and fail. But everytime, God remains ever present with me, forgiving and loving me unconditionally.

Sometimes what He wants me to do is as clear as day. Other times, it’s like walking with a lamp in a dark hallway, I can only see one step at a time.

Obeying God’s Directions

The important thing is to obey what He tells you to do even when you don’t understand so much.

He told me to start a print on demand business on free platforms but not follow others’ strategies of researching trends, and instead make my own original designs from the Word of God. I did.

I wanted to get my designs onto Merch by Amazon. My application got rejected. He told me to post them as inspirational journal covers on Amazon Kindle instead. I did.

He told me to start a Shopify store when I don’t have any audience yet and don’t have much capital. I did.

He told me to focus on writing on my blog and not on my YouTube channel. I did.

He told me to tithe, give 10% of all my income, even when my income is not enough for our expenses. I did.

He told me to start velocity banking with my 20k capital from my dormant account. I did.

This is why I learned not to make plans way too long into the future.

Instead, I set intentions, surrender them to God and work on what’s before me at the moment.

Like my desire to start a Family Bank in a Family Trust, managed by a Family Office and shared together in Family retreats to produce, preserve, perpetuate wealth, and give it away like the Rockefellers.

But yes, that’s still in the intermediate future, hopefully next year.

So now, I’m learning all I can about setting this up, reading books like What would billionaires Do and binging on tons of YouTube videos.

Meanwhile, I’m focused at this time on making content for the blog and YouTube channel, ecommerce, getting current on my bills and eliminating debt.

And then I’m also focused on providing as much value as I can with my online jobs to earn a bigger salary (cause I earn by the hour) to fund all these at the moment.

Hopefully, one day soon, I can replace my work salary with recurring residual profits generated from multiple passive income rivers from all my current online entrepreneurial endeavors.

In the meantime, I continue to listen to God for directions and obey one step at a time.
