Little Girls Trapped in Little Boys’ Bodies

canstockphoto1738698I watched the most troubling show on TV recently called Transgender Kids. It featured young children who were convinced they were the opposite sex. Several of the boys had became adamant at very early ages that they were girls and would have meltdowns becoming emotionally despondent if their parents referred to them and treated them as boys. The show said there are three times as many boys with “gender dysphoria” as girls.

This went on until the parents finally gave in, allowed them to dress as girls, began referring to them as “she” and “her,” and legally had their names changed to female names. One parent even openly discussed with her “daughter” that “her” male genitalia was a “birth defect” that they would have to deal with later. They plan on beginning hormonal replacement treatments for their children by the age of twelve.

Barely Old Enough to Know the Difference

As a Christian, fully convinced the word of God is true and forever settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89), I could only wonder at what I was seeing. This was not a Hollywood production, but the reality of a number of families.

The obvious question is how can children at such very young ages be so convinced they are the opposite sex when they are barely old enough to know the differences in genders? This topic is far bigger than we have time to cover here. For instance one family shared they had several gay relatives on both sides of the family. So there is some obvious familial generational issues there.

Anyone who says they have the answers to this just isn’t being truthful. I don’t have any either. But I do know that Christians and non-Christians, male and female, young and old all have the same battle. That is, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12)

The Author of Confusion – Gender Confusion

It’s the same devil that comes to kill, steal, and destroy all lives, and he most frequently begins his process in our childhoods. (John 10:10) Satan is after a generation, the generation that may likely be the one to usher in the return of Christ. He plans to rob them of their prophetic destinies and their relationship with their Father God, which is the only one that will ever bring true happiness and fulfillment.

God is not the author of confusion, Satan is. (1 Corinthians 14:33) He is the father of all lies. (John 8:44) There’s no greater example of these lies and confusion than gender confusion.

Where the Thoughts Come From

A two or three year old child doesn’t come up with ideas like this on their own. The thought has to be planted in them. Satan has so perfected his trade that when he plants ideas in our minds he can make them sound like they are ours.

A small child has no defenses or understanding of how to discern between his own thoughts and those planted by a crafty opponent, especially children growing up in homes which are not founded on the Word of God. But there are even Christian parents who are finding themselves embroiled in this battle and feel helpless in knowing what to do.

As a Christian parent how will you deal with this when your children have classmates who are boys yet insist they are girls? Or girls who claim to be boys? How will you deal with it when the entire school system goes along with this charade? We need answers when there seem to be none, except the word of God. We must temper our responses with compassion, wisdom, and God’s love. We must be wise as serpents and harmless as doves, yet firm in our beliefs.

Our Anchor is Christ

We must remember in the face of confusion that our anchor still holds, and our anchor is Christ. When things all around us are sinking sand, on Christ the solid rock we must stand. The only way to do this is to be convinced of the truths of God’s word and build a deep relationship with Him. There are no easy answers, and while we may not have many right now, we know the one who does.

This is just the beginning of the onslaught of confusion on this topic that will be unleashed at us in the days to come. It will soon be accepted as fact that there are little girls trapped in little boy’s bodies, and vice versa. The Christian community will have to make a decision of what they are going to believe. Many have already sided with the culture. (Remember, only 9% of born again Christians have a biblical worldview.)

A Great Appetite for More

A quick search on the internet will reveal there is a great appetite right now to know more about transgender children and they are quickly becoming celebrated. Another new reality show called I Am Jazz features a 14 year old transgender teen on the TLC Network. “She” is apparently a boy who believes he is a girl.

The pressure will continue to be tremendous to give up our views, especially when it involves children. We will be tagged as heartless and cruel, ignorant and of course bigoted. You are going to have to know what you believe, then teach your children who will face even greater peer pressure at school. Teach them how to be kind without yielding up their beliefs.

How to Talk to Your Children

Daily it is becoming more necessary for Christian parents to engage their children in conversations on these topics. Talk to your children before their friends do. A good friend of mine, Daphne Kirk, wrote an excellent explanation for children. She said:

“There is love between sisters, that is very special and there is no love like it. There is love between grandparents and grandchildren and there is no love like that. There is a special kind of love that is for a man and a woman. It is so special it is for just one man and one woman and is not to be shared with anyone else. There is no love like that either. Some people think that special man and woman love (like Mommy and Daddy have) can be shared with a woman and a woman or a man with a man. God says it can’t, because He made that love for just a man and a woman to share. If God says that is how that love is to be shared then no one must change it or try to share it in any other way.”

Teach your children what the Bible says, and how to hear God’s voice, which comes from knowing His Word. Do not become hysterical and emotional. Have frank conversations at age appropriate levels. But do it soon.
