New Jerusalem has “a great and high wall” (Rev. 21:12).

When describing the New Jerusalem, the first thing that is mentioned other than God’s glory [v. 21:11] is the wall. Separation, therefore, is one of the most important principles in a Christian’s living. If there is no separation, the Christian is of no value. There must be a line that is drawn to differentiate that which is spiritual from that which is fleshly. The New Jerusalem has a separation, a boundary line, and we need to learn a lesson from this.*

New JerusalemWe should not wait passively for any aspect of New Jerusalem. It is ‘the holy city” and we should have a Christian life today that is holy with God’s holiness.

Likewise, our present Christian life should have a separation between what is of the spirit and what is of the flesh. Galatians 5:13-26 shows this separation. On one side, in spirit, we take and apply Christ’s crucifixion as the supply to stop our flesh. This is Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ.”

On the other side we “walk by the Spirit” (5:16, 25) who is one with our human spirit to bring forth “the fruit of the Spirit” (5:22-23). The fruit here is of the divine life in us, in contrast to the lifeless “works of the flesh” (5:19-21).

By the Spirit with our spirit we have early experiences of the high wall of New Jerusalem. See also, The Life Flow for New Jerusalem’s Wall.
