Memorise: “For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?” (1 Cor 4:7)

Read: 1 Corinthians 4:6-7

Some miracles are not delivered because of certain internal enemies. Not every part of you truly desires what you say you want. This is why your spirit must be in-charge so as to subdue every voice of opposition coming out of your body. If you do not silence them, they will stop your blessing. Looking at the story of Naaman recorded in 2 Kings 5:11-12, we see pride as a hindrance.

1 Corinthians 4:7 KJV - For who maketh thee to differ from another? and

When it comes to miracles, what you are is of no consequence. It is either you forget your social standing or lose your miracle. 1 Peter 5:5 says God resists the proud. You will be surprised to see some believers denied their miracles while others are getting theirs. Find out, pride could be responsible. The most dangerous type of pride is spiritual pride. Somebody feels his church is better than his neighbour’s and as a result considers both the neighbor and his fellow Gospel church of less value. This is sin! A pastor once told his congregation:

“Imagine these people comparing our church with all the other (sub -standard) churches out there”. This is spiritual pride! This is one reason believers or bonafide Gospel churches find it difficult to mix with one another (Is 65:5 ). If you think you have studied the Bible to such an advanced stage that you consider yourself far better than your fellow brethren, you have spiritual pride.

Spiritual pride has turned some into Pharisees. They have become too holy to greet others or even answer greetings. Some go to the extent of not shaking or sitting beside the opposite sex, whereas their hearts are filled with immoral thoughts. Competition is allowed in the body of Christ but spiritual pride is the mother of unhealthy rivalry and worldly competition.

A pastor resigned from a church he pastored for several years and went to set up his own in a particular hotel. Some ministers from his previous church got to know, and they met the hotel owner and threatened to burn down his hotel if he failed to eject his new tenant. Even though the pastor had paid ahead of time, the hotelier out of fear ejected him and refunded his balance. And such ministers will celebrate ‘their victory?’ Of course, it is glaring that they are now working for Satan against God’s Kingdom.

The decision of who is better than the other is left for the One you all work for. Humble yourself. As long as pride is in your life, God will continue to resist you. What do you have that is not a gift from God?

Of all forms of pride, subtle pride is the most deadly. It is usually covered from public glare. Ask God to deliver you from it.
