One New Man with Christ as All in All

Among human beings there are numerous social, cultural, religious, educational, and national distinctions. But none of these distinctions exist in the one new man created by Christ on the cross. Rather, “Christ is all and in all” (Col. 3:11).

The position of every believer is “in Christ.” The ancestry of every believer is “God our Father” and we are all brothers and sisters because we all have the same divine life. Christ is our life (Col. 3:4), our faith is solely in Christ (2:5), we have been made full in Him (2:10), we were all circumcised in His circumcision (2:11), we died with Him and were raised with Him (2:20; 3:1), and Christ is our hope of glory (Col. 1:27).

New JerusalemNow we hold Christ as our Head so that we all may receive the rich supply from Him (2:19). In this supply He becomes our wisdom, our righteousness, our kindness, our peace and joy, and more. Eventually, “When Christ our life is manifested, then you also will be manifested with Him in glory” (3:4).

The glory of this manifestation will become the glory of New Jerusalem, where Christ will continue to be “all and in all.” What we experience of Him today is only a small portion of all that He will be in that day.
