Introduction

I had a great idea dropped into my spirit and mind by God’s Spirit many years ago. It was the early days of my Christian life. I just graduated from college and I was desperately looking for a job that was non-existent in my country.

I had prayed and fasted and expected God to make a way for me in a big multinational organization where I could secure a lucrative mechanic engineering position (I studied Mechanical Engineering).

Well, it was as if God was not giving any form of attention to me and my prayers because I continued to fail one job interview after another. At least that was what I thought until God dropped a book idea into my heart.

As a result of my inability to secure a job, I had to put up with a temporary and low-paying mathematics teaching job in a tutorial center. One hot afternoon after I finished at this teaching center, I took a walk back home and in the hot sun, I got the inspiration to undergo a book project that will correct my students’ common mistakes in Mathematics.

Now, before then, I had never given a thought to writing a book. Though, I was a press man in my college days and I enjoyed writing but I never planned or envisaged I would be writing a book or becoming an author.

Idea under pillow

After receiving this book idea on this hot afternoon, I got home and wrote it down in a sheet of paper. Yes, that was all I did. I wrote it down but I never believed I could become a published author.

In essence, the possibility mentality was not there. I never knew it was possible to undertake a book project. I did not even understood it was God’s inspiration and a divine answer to my prayers over the months.

Instead of a job in a multinational outfit, God answered my prayers by giving me an idea that opened up my book ministry and that has been a wonderful reference point in my life.

Is it not surprising that I kept this great idea and God’s graciousness to me under the pillow for two and half years! I did that because I had an impossibly mentality then.

Many ideas are buried

Many Ideas and many destinies have been buried as a result of people not having a possibility mentality. You can’t get the best of God if you don’t have a possibility mentality.

It is the intention of this Bible Short Report to:

Help you develop a possibility mentality.

Help you walk more effectively by faith with God.

Help you start and complete ideas and projects.

Section 1

Chapter 1: David perceived he was king

Kenneth Copeland, in one of his articles titled, “From Believing to Perceiving” describes how David moved from the realm of believing he was a king to perceiving he was a king as recorded in 1 Chronicles 14: 1-2. Kenneth wrote:

“Finally, it dawned on him! David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king. I can just imagine David saying to himself, ‘I’m king. I’m king! I AM KING!’ At that moment, being king ceased to be something David had only thought about. It became something he really was. He could see himself as king”.

This same situation can apply to you and me today especially concerning the scripture that says about us that we are the light of the world or problem solvers on the earth (Matthew 5:14). Probably, you have read this passage many times but it has not, just like David, dawned on you that you are actually what God says you are – a problem solver on the earth!

When the revelation of my Christian status as a problem solver dawned on me while reading the Biblical principles taught in a book by Myles Munroe, The Principles and Powers of Vision, I moved into another realm of possibility mentality. I believed I could solve any problem through the powers of God since His Word says; I’m the light of the world or a problem solver on earth.

Before then, I used to wonder and sometimes got discouraged over the myriad of problems that were coming at me from different angles. I began to see myself as a ‘problem-solving machine’ which God has given the opportunity and privilege to solve problems. My problem – solving mentality has not been the same since then.

Just what is a possibility mentality? I will be using the next chapter to explain this. Cross over to the next chapter now.

Chapter 2: What is a possibility mentality?

Possibility mentality is a state of mind that you must desire to have after you have become a born-again Christian. I have given you that definition based on the content and the theme of this book.

You should understand that being a Christian does not automatically guarantee you will have a possibility mentality. Likewise, sometimes, activities do not show you have a possibility mentality. You can kick-start a project and begin to work on it without having this required mentality!

Are you surprised to read that? Oh, please don’t be surprised. It’s a simple truth! Read on.

Those who start a project without this mentality usually get tired at a stage in the execution of their project when the going gets tough. These types of people usually abandon their projects for other things.

It is so sad that lots of people have abandoned their sweet visions because they have no possibility mentality. So sad indeed!

From the article of Kenneth Copeland under chapter 1 and the Bible story of David, he (David), had been involved in many activities before the period when suddenly he perceived he was a king. The truth is that David became a king when the oil came upon his head in 1 Samuel 16:13.

David believed God’s judgment and decision to make him king but he fell short of seeing himself as the king God called him. He couldn’t see how God would dethrone the “mighty” king Saul and put him on the throne. Nevertheless, he kept on moving forward in his journey but finally came to see how he could rule as a king over Israel.

Another good case is the story of Abraham in the book of Genesis. From Genesis 12 to Genesis 15, Abraham obeyed God and kept on moving but the reality of God fulfilling His promise for his life only dawned on him in Genesis 15. The Bible says, “And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness (Genesis 15:6).

Let me once again expose you to the big challenge here. I won’t do that in this chapter. Just go straight to the next chapter to find the big challenge before you.

Chapter 3: The big challenge of possibility mentality

The big challenge here is that you must understand that salvation does not bestow this state of mind on you automatically! I think I already mentioned that. Well, it is worth another mention because of the sweetness and relevance of that fact.

Salvation only gives you the opportunity or opens you up to the realm of attaining it. What I mean by this is that having a possibility mentality is something you must diligently and consistently work at to attain.

Some non-Christians have worked diligently at attaining this great treasure and have excelled in finishing lots of projects which have not given glory to God on this earth. The truth is that Christians must wake up and understand that this state of mind where they behave, know, act, and are sure anything is possible is something they have to work at to attain.

While non-Christians’ possibility mentalities are not standing on God, Christians’ possibility mentalities are founded upon their connection to God. With this state of mind, Christians can begin to finish projects that will truly be useful to God’s cause on this earth.

I believe you already understand the whole truth about this big challenge and its relevance to the theme of this book.

It does not happen overnight!

Apart from the fact that a possibility mentality does not automatically come upon you after you become a child of God through salvation and that you have to work at it as I explained above, you should also understand that it does not come upon you overnight either. It is a lifetime occurrence in which you must continue to work at moving from one level to another.

The mental attitude of Abraham in Genesis 12 was different from the one in Genesis 22 where he believed God first-hand to kill the promised son God gave him. He agreed to kill him, making interesting faith statements along the way!

The mental attitude of Peter in Matthew 14: 28-30 where he stepped on the water is different from that of Acts Chapter 3 where he won over 3000 men to Christ with an inspired speech. His possibility mental attitude after Acts Chapter 8 when God instructed him to visit a non-Jew called Cornelius to witness how the Spirit of God would fall on them as He did on him and others in Acts Chapter 2 cannot be compared to his previous experiences as shared above.

The possibility mental attitude of Moses in Exodus Chapter 2 when God called him was completely different from the one that faced Pharaoh in Egypt. It was also different from the one that faced and divided the Red Sea.

You must continually work at improving your possibility mentality and keep working at it throughout your lifetime.

How do you then begin to work at improving your possibility mental attitude on your projects? The next section of this book will show you.

Section 2: How to Have a Possibility Mentality

This section will show you simple steps you can begin to follow to have an ever-improving or increasing possibility mentality. Let’s go to the next section immediately.

Chapter 3: It starts with the right believe system

A wise man once said, “The first major victory in the game of life is convincing yourself that anything is possible”.

“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23). This is a direct statement from Jesus. The foundational requirement for you to start operating with a strong possibility mentality is for you to ensure your believe system is right and effective.

What do I mean by this? Your believe system is the process of how your spirit reacts to the spiritual promises of God. If it is negative and unhealthy, you will not be able to operate with a possibility mentality. I want you to understand that if you are not a Christian, that is, you have not believed that Jesus Christ died for your sins and have not confessed and accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, your believe system can’t be effective.

Therefore, the messages here are:

You must become born again (your spirit comes alive to God)

Your spirit receives the capacity to believe God’s promises

The stage to start walking and working with a possibility mentality is then set up.

Check your believe system

Check your believe system now. At what level are you? Are you born again? If you are not, you should say the salvation prayer immediately asking God to forgive your sins and asking Jesus to become your Lord and Savior.

A healthy believe system is the foundational requirement you need to start executing Godly projects with a high possibility mental attitude.

Let me now take you to the next step on how to have a possibility mentality. I just hope you have said the salvation prayer as I instructed above. You must do it immediately if you are not born again already. God bless you as you do so.

Chapter 4: It continues with a positive thinking system

As a man thinks so is he. If you have a healthy believe system, then you must also have a healthy thinking system. Your believe system sets the stage for the journey to the world of possibility mentality. Your thinking system continues the journey. If your thinking system is faulty, then walking and working with a possibility mentality will be difficult because as you think so you are.

You must ensure your thinking system is regularly shaped and conditioned by the Word of God. Paul wrote in Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”. Your mind must be renewed consistently with the Word of God.

You should ensure you read books and materials that will always expose you to good content that can help your possibility mentality. Read motivational books, they are good; they open you up to a world of possibilities. Attend good seminars, workshops, and conferences; they will go a long way to help you to think positively.

I know your thoughts and the level of your possibility mentality after I have conversed with you for 20 minutes and above. Your thoughts show very clearly in your speech or talk and from the way you carry yourself.

I believe I shocked you with that. Please don’t be shocked. Your thinking system must be healthy even after you got born again. This is the simple truth.

Chapter 5: You must have a healthy relationship with the Holy Spirit

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” (Jeremiah 32:27).

This passage shows a great quality that God possesses – everything is possible before Him, and He can do all things. This is an interesting quality that you can have too if only you will avail yourselves the opportunity to relate more deeply with His Spirit in you if you are a Christian.

The angel of God told Mary in Luke 1:37, “For with God all things are possible”, that is, Mary would be able to get pregnant even as a virgin and bring out the Saviour of the world if she was with God. The angel also had earlier told her that, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you…” (Luke 1:33).

There are countless benefits to you if you learn to sustain a healthy relationship with the Spirit of God, having a possibility mentality is just one of them.

A consistent walk with the Spirit of God will ensure you continue to climb up the ladder of possibility mentality all the days of your life. A healthy walk with God’s Spirit will open your eyes to see and experience what can make you move from one experience of possibilities to the other. Paul echoed this fact when he declared, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.

If you read that passage from verse 10, you will notice that Paul had described a series of problems and difficulties he was facing but despite all these problems, he believed he could achieve all his aims and goals through the Spirit of Christ within him.

This is the hallmark of people who walk about with a possibility mentality. To them, nothing is impossible to achieve. They can start and finish any divine project no matter their color, race, location, or financial position, through the help of God who is active in them.

If you have not watered or made efforts to develop a close relationship with the Holy Spirit of God, you are missing a lot of things. Please start an improving relationship with the Holy Spirit of God today.

How mature is your spirit since you gave your life to Jesus Christ? Don’t let me open the lid of what I want to discuss next. Go straight to the next chapter.

Chapter 6: You must continuously make a conscious effort to mature your spirit

I read the story of a preacher who, at the early stage of his ministry, was invited to a community meeting to discuss issues that arose as a result of the piece of land he bought in the community. After some time at the meeting when the preacher discovered the community leaders were trying to rip him off the land he duly purchased as a result of his poor financial status, his spirit reached out angrily against this and declared without any consideration to those seated at the gathering and to no one in particular, “I shall not be poor”. The people at the meeting were surprised to hear that from him since his declarations had nothing to do with the topic of the moment.

The matured spirit of this preacher, which had been programmed to reject poverty or lack no matter the situation around him, reacted against the evil discussions in the meeting that were meant to deprive him of his cherished possession because of his financial status at that time. Your spirit is the core of your being and it is dangerous to live it unfed with the right spiritual food.

Possibility mentality, though a state of your mind, is deeply spiritual. You can’t afford to let your spirit remain immature and expect yourself to have an improving possibility mentality. What you see spiritually and the secrets of God you can access consistently all go a long way to helping your possibility mental attitude. This is what separates Christians from non – Christians.

According to 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God‘’. What you see and hear from God makes meaning to you because your spirit can correctly analyze and explore the information.

The following are the ways you can mature your spirit:

Consistent Word Study

Active prayer life

Prompt action on God’s instructions

Avoid sin

Consistent walk with the Spirit of God

Allow the ‘God Experience’

Chapter 6: Get Project Experience

“And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water”. (Matthew 14: 28-30). I love this attitude from Peter. He saw Jesus walking on water and asked to do the same. He gave himself a rare opportunity at that time to have project experience. Well, he later sank but we can’t rule out the fact that he walked on water for a moment. This project experience must have stood with him throughout his lifetime!

Elisha was also another man who began to make himself have project experience immediately his master Elijah was taken off into the sky. He struck the river with the mantle of Elijah, “Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over” (2 Kings 2:14).

I also observed how God allowed Moses to have project experiences with the way He put plagues on Egypt. Moses’ possibility mentality grew so big after the plague episodes in Egypt. The Bible says this interesting statement about Moses after some of the devastating plagues had come on Egypt, “…moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and the sight of the people” (Exodus 11:3).

He had severally used his high possibility mentality to obey God’s instructions to put plagues on Egypt and the Egyptians have come to see him as a high project executioner. He became great in a land he once fled for fear of being killed!

Even with the Red Sea in front of the children of Israel and the war of the pharaoh behind them, Moses’ possibility mentality had grown so much that he declared even before consulting God, “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more” (Exodus 14:13)”.

I understood God wanted me to use books to distribute the gospel and I started with a small ebook titled, Jesus and Your Success. The response of online subscribers and users of the book encouraged me to write revised editions of the book and increased distribution activities. This small book project has also led to bigger book projects of which this particular book in your hand is one of them.

Laying your hands on small projects can be very useful to improve your possibility mentality. If you have a big project and it appears to you as if you may not be able to get it done, you should prayerfully find out the least possible things you can begin to do that will improve your possibility mentality.

The wisdom here is that if you want to be a Newspaper Publisher, you can start by publishing and distributing a 4-page newsletter. If you want to become a best-selling author, start by writing and distributing short reports. If you want to become the Chief Executive Officer of a company, start by working diligently as the head of your unit or department in your place of employment.

The Lord had ministered the big project of the Visionary Business Project to me but I started out holding seminars for teachers and students in schools. The success of these ‘mini-seminars for teachers and students in schools and the response from the audience improved my possibility mentality and I was ready to take The Visionary Business Project to another height.

You can’t rule out the enormous benefit projects experience adds to the quality of your possibility mentally. I‘m not surprised this plays a great role when big organizations interview and recruit top executives for their organizations. Candidates who have quality project experience are always given top consideration.

I read the story of PZ Cussons Plc., the giant producer of quality personal care products who allowed themselves to get useful projects experiences when they started the business. They supplied palm oil, palm kernels, cocoa, seed stems, and groundnuts to the United Kingdom. These project experiences helped them to develop the necessary possibility mentality to do business profitably in Africa.

Chapter 7: Get Relevance Exposures

Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Nigeria, once told God after he attended one of the conferences or Kenneth Hagin, “Lord if you fail to do what I see you do at this meeting in Africa, then I’ll say you are partial”. This great preacher was exposed to the mighty works of God amongst men in a program conducted by God’s chosen vessel and he felt if God could do that in the USA, he can do that in Africa as well. His possibility mentality improved significantly and I’m not surprised that he had conducted several similar programs in his country, Nigeria where God had moved mightily among the people since then. His church, the Redeemed Christian Church of God is arguably the fastest-growing Pentecostal church in the world!

The Bible says in Proverbs 6:6 “Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise”. I believe the lessons the sluggards in this passage will acquire will not only instruct them but will also go a long way to improve their possibility mentality. This introduces the importance of relevant knowledge acquisition and possibility mentality. Anyone with an insatiable thirst for knowledge will always move from one level of possibility mentality to another because the new information you acquire will always go a long way to give you maximum exposure.

I was a high school teacher and a boarding house master many years ago when on one of the routine checks into the rooms of the students in the evening I saw a magazine lying on the floor. Because I had fallen deeply in love with acquiring knowledge, I took an interest in this magazine, picked it up, and went to my room to look at what it was all about. It happened to be a magazine dedicated to teaching its readers how to use the Internet to do business. I was surprised such information existed then that I did not know of.

After going through the magazine, I paid a visit to the office address on the magazine and had a chat with the Publisher. I began to get myself exposed to more information about the internet. This was even years before God inspired me into a Christian ministry. When it was time to start my ministry, I began to use the internet to distribute ebooks. Today, Internet Evangelism is an important section of our ministry. Thank God, I allowed myself to get exposed to this information then.

If you have to travel, please do so, and get yourself exposed to new things in your industry. If you have to read books, please do so to learn new things. If you have to attend seminars, workshops, and conferences please go ahead and do so. The internet provides the cheapest platform for anyone to get exposed to new information in any industry or about any project.

Don’t go through the year without availing yourself of the opportunity to go through relevant exposures. You can read and obtain more information about how knowledge acquisition can motivate you to act on your projects under the Course, Information Power.

Getting yourself exposed to new things will improve your possibility mentality significantly.

Chapter 8: Understand Your Source of Power

God has helped me to have a good understanding of my source of power with Jesus’ statement in John 15:5, “I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in Him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing”. Paul caught the same understanding and declared, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. I showed you earlier that the foundational requirement for a possibility mentality is your ability to believe God’s promise about a project or an idea first-time without any form of doubt.

You will always believe God’s promise on a project if you understand the fact that you are never expected to use your power or strength but God’s power to get the project completed in the first place. The pressures of how it will happen have been taken off your shoulders, you only need to believe and start obeying instructions. Jesus also said in (Matthew 11:29,), “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls”. The Bible also points out dearly, “For by strength no man shall prevail”. (1 Samuel 2:9).

Chapter 9: Conclusion: Hold on to His grace

My dear friend, you have no reason to disbelieve God when He shares an idea with you even when present situations around you do not show you as someone who can handle such projects.

I started my ministry with a small browsing phone, an abandoned website, and a neglected computer palmtop dumped in one corner of our room. I believed God when He asked me to start because I knew His power and strength will be available for me. You can begin to operate with a healthy believe system that can positively improve your possibility mentality when you have more understanding of the availability of God’s power for you to start and finish great projects.

Paul the Apostle shared his understanding of this fact when he wrote in 2cor 12: 7-15, “And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

He discovered a handicap and I believe he had probably felt this could prevent him from fulfilling his destiny as a Preacher. He prayed to God to take it away from him but God’s interesting response in verse 9 was, “My grace is enough, it’s all you need my strength comes into its own in your weakness” (MSG).

God made Paul understand that no child of God is expected to disbelieve Him and His promises because of his or her weaknesses. God helped him to understand why he must not entertain the notion that he had the power, strength, and wisdom to get projects completed. He (God) is the one who will finish projects through him (Paul). It is God’s grace that makes something out of nothing!

I want you to read the response of Paul to God’s statement above, “Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift …” (2cor 12:96 – 10) (MSG). The handicap became a gift when Paul’s understanding got in line with God’s methods!

Paul’s believe system became healthier, he moved to another level of possibility mentality. Even if situations around him were negative, he could still get projects executed, he only needed to take himself out of the scene and allow Christ to take over.

When the devil tells you that you will never be able to start and finish any Godly project, tell him that he is ignorant of how things work between God, His children, and their project execution abilities. Tell him to go and look at 2cor 12: 7-10 again. If he does not want to do this, teach him what you have discovered.

Tell him your power is not meant to get projects completed but God’s mighty power. He is the God of all flesh and nothing will be impossible before Him. Can anything be difficult for God to do? The one who made a virgin to conceive! God’s power can get any project completed through you.

Don’t just tell the devil or teach him your discovery, crush him on the head by taking immediate action on the idea God had ministered to you. This immediate action can just be, writing down the idea in your idea book, “fleshing” it out into a project with a step-by-step analysis of the execution, and thanking God for sharing the idea with you.
