Robert Breaker of the Cloud Church VS Dr. Peter S. Ruckman Clip Comparison: Is The Sinner's Prayer a WORK?

Dr. Peter S. Ruckman and Pastor Robert Breaker of the cloud church (of the cloud church) do not agree on salvation.

Thank you to Brother Don Nesbitt, the Lord's bloodhound (his youtube handle is @w46try7) for sounding the alarm about Robert Breaker.

If you have stumbled upon this article and you don’t know what a Robert Breaker or a Dr. Ruckman is. Or you do and is confused why it exists.

Dr. Ruckman was a King James Bible Only Fundamentalist preacher who died in 2015. Robert Breaker is a King James Bible Only Fundamentalist preacher also. Breaker says that belief is from the heart and calling while he does not condemn verbally calling; he believes calling in Romans is from your heart and not a verbal action. Dr. Ruckman disagreed and through out his ministry personally won people to Christ by having them believe and do a verbal sinner’s prayer.

Breaker’s fans (who are the same pool as Dr. Ruckman’s) believe that Dr. Ruckman and Breaker believed the same about sinner’s prayers and that Dr. Ruckman and Breaker don’t conflict. Breaker himself also has said that their views do not conflict.

I made this article to unmuddy the waters and give a definitive answer that Robert Breaker and Dr. Ruckman fundamentally disagreed.

If you’re confused why I like Don Nesbitt and call him a bloodhound dog. Dr. Ruckman called himself a junkyard dog. Someone else called Don that and it’s fitting.

I would like to thank Brother Don Nesbitt, Brother Tim Chess (He Must Increase) for the clips from their channels which I have used. It would not be possible without them. And Brother Ed for encouraging me to make this.

Brother Don is who alerted me that Breaker was saying Dr. Ruckman agreed with him. He’s the bloodhound dog that barked at the intruder. If you want to give anyone thanks for this, thank him for barking at the intruder and the others for their help direct or indirect. The Lord just used me to make this.

Calling For Salvation: Romans 10:13 in its Biblical Context

“And that even though that can come out the mouth, and sometimes it does, it’s gotta come from the heart.

Now look at what he says in verse 9: ‘That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.’

So it’s believing in the heart, right?

People say, ‘Yeah, but it’s confessing with the...’ Confession is what you do when you are saved. When you’re saved, you’ll confess that you’re saved. That comes after it. The confession itself doesn’t save you. It’s whether or not you believe from the heart.”

[00:28 - 01:50] Dr. Peter S. Ruckman

Dr Ruckman, Romans Study 26 & 27

“The word is nigh thee, near thee. It’s right on your lips. It’s right in your heart. It’s present. You have access to it. You don’t have to go anywhere. You don’t have to study anything. You don’t have to learn anything. There’s nothing to attain.

It is the word of faith which we preach. And here it comes: the simplest, clearest presentation of salvation found anywhere in either Testament.

Two conditions: If. ‘If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,’ Number two: ‘and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.’ No ifs, ands, buts about it.

And notice, the heart is not changed. The heart believes on Christ in its regular condition. There is no over... no overpowering of the sinner by the irresistible grace of God, which transforms him against his will into a new creature so he can receive Christ and all that Calvinistic baloney. It’s aimed at an unsaved man in his natural condition. And he’s told, if you believe something in your heart and confess it with your mouth, God’ll give you the new birth, God’ll save you, and impute to you righteousness and justify you.”

Calling For Salvation: Romans 10:13 in its Biblical Context

“Verse 16: ‘But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?’ Again, believing! It’s through believing that we’re saved. And it’s through the gospel.

Verse 18, I meant verse 17: ‘So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.’

Without faith, there’s no salvation.

I’ve come across people that I’ve met that claim to be Christians, and I ask them, ‘What’s your testimony?’ They say, ‘Well, when I was 5 years old, I repeated the prayer because my mom told me to.’

I said, ‘Well, did you ever heard the gospel?’ ‘What’s that?’

And so I give them the gospel of 1 Corinthians 15:1 through 4. They say, ‘I never heard that before.’

I said, ‘Well, then are you saved?’

And I show them these verses. And they say, ‘Well, I guess I wasn’t saved. My whole life, I thought I was a Christian because I did the little thing that I was told to do in the church, and I repeated the little prayer. But all my life, I thought I was saved because of something I did, the prayer I said, and I wasn’t trusting in the blood that Jesus shed.’

So do you see how in their mind they’re thinking that what they did saved them rather than trusting what Jesus did to save them?

Do you see how this is a damnable heresy and how it can lead people to hell if you do not rightly divide the word of truth and explain Romans 10:13 in context?”

[03:12 - 05:33] Dr. Peter S. Ruckman

Dr Ruckman, Romans Study 26 & 27

“’For Esaias said, Lord, who hath believed our report?’ In other words, to obey the gospel is to believe the gospel, and you believe from the heart. And we made comment on this earlier when we talked about believing in vain, and you might review those remarks we made, and we made them in connection with Romans chapter 6, verse 17.

All right, believe, confess. That’s the long and short of it. ‘For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness.’ You can talk all day about a man believing an elevator will take him up, but he needs to get into it. You speak of a man having nerve, or having guts, or having backbone, so you understand perfectly what God means when He says believe in your heart.

A man told a friend of mine, he was a skeptic, this man, he told a friend of mine, he said, ‘Your heart’s just an organ. It can’t believe.’ And my friend said, ‘Well, it may be an organ, but every time it hears the name of Jesus, it plays “Amazing grace! how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.”’ You understand what God means when He says heart. Don’t put on airs.

‘For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.’

It’s just that simple. You say, ‘Is that all there is to it?’ That’s all there is to it. You say, ‘Well, anybody can...’ No, they don’t. It says, ‘Believe in your heart,’ your affections, what you love. That is, you come to Christ as a sinner, and you lay hold of Him with your heart as your only hope, your only God, your only Savior, and you confess Him as Lord. L-O-R-D.

It isn’t a matter of just believing some abstract doctrine about salvation. It’s nothing just as simple as repenting, confessing, believing, being baptized like the water dogs say. It’s a matter of laying hold with the heart of a person who is living and risen, who died for you on the cross, and confessing Him as Lord, Jehovah, Jesus, Jehovah saves, God manifest in the flesh dying to save you from your sins.

And if you haven’t done that, you haven’t obeyed the gospel no matter what else you’ve done.”

Calling For Salvation: Romans 10:13 in its Biblical Context

“You know that verse 10: ‘For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;’ imputed righteousness by believing, by faith. ‘And with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.’

When you’re saved, you’ll confess that you’re saved. 2 Corinthians 4:13, Paul says, ‘We believe, therefore we speak.’ So because we believe the gospel, then we speak and we say, ‘Hey, I believe the gospel.’ That’s confession. The actual confession with the mouth isn’t what saves you; it’s whether or not you’ve believed in the gospel from the heart.

Verse 11: ‘For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.’ Wow! So it’s believing that seals the deal, that saves us.

Verse 12: ‘For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.’ How do they call upon the Lord? Why, 2 Timothy 2:22: ‘of a pure heart.’ They’re calling upon God from the heart. Yes, it might come out the mouth, too. ‘Out of abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh,’ the Bible says. There are some things that we say out of our mouth that comes from the heart. Then there are other things we say with our mouth that we don’t even believe, and I’ll show you a verse on that in a minute.”

[06:44 - 08:04] Dr. Peter S. Ruckman

Vintage Dr Ruckman VHS put out by Christian Bible Church

“Finally, if this book is right, and there’s no doubt in my mind at all, if there’s any doubt, in yours, if this book is right, you can know you’re saved. This book says, ‘These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know you have eternal life.’ You can know. Paul in this book says, ‘I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I’ve committed unto him against that day.’

All right, it depends on the book. If the book is right, you can be saved, you can be saved right now, right this minute. The only question is, will you accept what this book says or will you not?

This book says, ‘Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ Will you call on His name?

This book says, ‘Believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead.’ Will you believe it?

This book says if you confess Him with your mouth, He’ll confess you. Will you confess Him or won’t you?

It all depends upon whether or not you believe this book to mean what it says and to say what it means.

I hope as we close this program in this hour that you’ll bow your head there by the set or wherever you are and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him for salvation. Trust Him as your Savior. Believe on Him as your Savior. He’ll save you today if you let Him.”

What The Bible Says About Calling Upon the Lord

“Salvation is not us coming to God and saying, ‘Hey! Hey up there! I’m calling on you! Save me already!’

That’s not salvation. That’s a vocal, with the lips, calling. But I showed you the context of Romans chapter 10. You call on the Lord, it’s the faith from the heart that speaks and calls.

Salvation is based upon blood and whether you accept the blood atonement.

So you come to Jesus, you realize, ‘I’m lost, and I can’t save myself.’ And you come to the cross, and you look at Calvary, and you see that bleeding Savior dying in your place for your sins, and you say, ‘I’ll take that! I trust Him! I trust what He did! I accept that for me!’

Your heart cries out to God, and God in heaven goes, ‘That’s a saved man, because he’s trusted.’”

[08:58 - 10:07] Dr. Peter S. Ruckman

Peter S. Ruckman - The Heresy of Calvinism

“Repentance to the elect? But it didn’t say to the elect. It said to the Gentiles. You know what that means? That means any Gentile can repent.

Why? Because God granted repentance to the Gentiles.

It’s funny how that thing slips in there to see if you can’t see it. One fellow says, ‘Well, He gave repentance to the elect among the Gentiles.’ It didn’t say that. It said Gentiles. Any Gentile in this town can be saved.

Here’s a good one for you: ‘But what saith it? The word is nigh thee,’ in your mouth. Unsaved, dead in trespasses and sin, got it in his mouth. ‘and in your heart.’ The unsaved man has the word of salvation in his heart and his mouth. All he got to do is confess: ‘if thou shalt confess with thy mouth ... and believe in thine heart, thou shalt be saved.’ That’s written to the Romans, 10, the Gentiles.

There ain’t a Gentile in heaven and earth that can’t be saved, just like that. He’s been given repentance, he’s been given faith to be saved, and it’s right in his mouth and right in his heart. All he’s got to do is use it.”

[10:07 - 11:44] Pastor Robert Breaker of the cloud church

What The Bible Says About Calling Upon the Lord

“In Christ for salvation, not in himself. Yes, it can come out the mouth, and it should. But it’s not the mouth part that saves; it’s whether you see it and believe it and understand it and trust from the heart.

That’s salvation, folks.

There’s a lot more verses in the Bible. Let’s go to Romans chapter 5 and verse 11. You see, salvation, according to the Bible, is through faith. And your faith must be in the blood.

And there are a lot of people in the world today that claim to be Christians, and you say, ‘Hey, what’s your testimony? Tell me how you got saved.’ They won’t tell you anything about the blood.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come across somebody who says they’re a Christian, I go, ‘Oh, tell me your testimony.’ ‘Well, I just asked God to save me one day.’ And I go, ‘And? And then what? That’s it?’

I said, ‘Well, when did you trust the gospel?’ ‘The gospel? What’s that?’ ‘Well, when did you trust the blood?’ ‘What about the blood? What are you talking about?’

Are they saved just because they did something with the mouth? Or could it be they have a profession of faith claiming they’re a Christian, but they have no possession because they have not trusted in the blood atonement of Christ yet?

Do you know the Bible says that believing is receiving? The way you receive salvation is through believing.

Romans chapter 5, verse 11 says: ‘And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.’

The Bible says that you must receive the atonement.”

[11:44 - 13:23] Dr. Peter S. Ruckman

Peter S. Ruckman - OBSTACLES

“I had a fellow phone me up from Panama City for about two years, and finally he quit. He phoned about once every three or four months. I finally got rough with him and got mad at him, and I guess I cut off our fellowship. But it was a heavy, guttural voice, a gangster-type voice.

First time he phoned up, he said, ‘Father, I got to talk to you.’ So you know where he was hanging out. I didn’t tell him any different. I mean, I’m a father, I got 10 kids and 14 grandchildren.

And he said, ‘Father,’ he said, ‘I got a problem.’ I said, ‘What is it?’ He said, ‘Well,’ he said, ‘I’m going to hell.’ I said, ‘Well, good. I’m glad you phoned me. You phoned the right man.’ I told him how to get saved, and we had prayer over the phone. He accepted Christ.

And then about two months later, he phoned me up again. Sounded like he’d been drinking a little each time. He phoned me and said, ‘Father, I got something bothering me.’ ‘What is it?’ Said, ‘I’m going to hell.’ I said, ‘Aren’t you the guy who phoned me up?’ He wouldn’t give me his name. Said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘I did, but I don’t feel like I’m saved.’ I said, ‘You prayed over this telephone and asked Christ to save you. What’s the problem?’ He said, ‘I just don’t feel like I did the right thing.’ I said, ‘All right, let’s get it settled this time.’

So we had prayer over the telephone, he received Christ again. And then he hung up. Then about two months later, he phones up again.

And he said, ‘Father,’ I said, ‘Man,’ I said, ‘you quit calling God a liar! God said, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Now, if you called upon Him, you’re saved, or you’re a liar and He’s lying, one!’

He said, ‘But preacher, I’ve killed a lot of people.’ I said, ‘Well, son, sometimes you have to.’ Well, yeah, man, yeah, in the war, yeah, you’ve got to kill, get killed, take your pick.”

What The Bible Says About Calling Upon the Lord

“Through faith, you’re saved. When your faith is in the blood, that’s how you receive the atonement. You trust the blood atonement, that’s when you are saved. And that’s the calling that God is looking for. Have you called by faith in the blood?

If all you do is call with your mouth, you’re still not saved yet.

So yes, I believe in Romans 10:13: ‘Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ Amen! Amen!

But I believe it should be defined. I believe it should be explained. I believe it should be given in context. Because in context, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord by faith shall be saved. And it’s clear verse 6: ‘The righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise.’ It’s the word of faith, verse 8. You believe in your heart, verse 9 and verse 10.”

“It’s not every day somebody just prays for you out in public. You know that, don’t you?

All right, Toy stopped a guy at a bus stop one time and said, ‘Are you saved?’ And they said, ‘Get away here, you blackity black black black.’ And Toy just dropped on his knees right beside the guy. And said, ‘Oh God, please take this poor godless wicked hellbound devil of this old man! Save his soul from the devil’s hell!’ When he got through, that guy was shaking like a leaf in a storm, man!

So when you get them up there, if the guy doesn’t pray, you pray. And then if he still doesn’t pray, you say, ‘Now if you’d like the Lord to save you, just in your own words’, see, say that, ‘in your own words ask Him to save you.’ Now you want to say that. You want to say ‘in your own words,’ because some people think if they’re not praying like a preacher, they’re not praying, you know. So say, ‘in your own words, ask Christ to save you.’

Then he may begin, he may not begin. He may even hesitate there. If he hesitates there, you say, ‘All right, if you mean business, I’ll lead you in prayer and you follow.’

Listen, if they’re not going to get saved, they’ll back out. I’ve had my hand two inches from a guy to receive Christ and have him for 30 minutes, that hand that far away, and never make the move. I’ve had them take my hand, begin to pray, and then stop in the middle of the prayer and say, ‘Well, I guess I’m not quite ready yet,’ and back out.”

[15:37 - 18:07] Pastor Robert Breaker of the cloud church

What The Bible Says About Calling Upon the Lord

“If a guy comes to God and says, ‘God, I don’t want to go to hell, I want to get saved,’ that’s a good thing. I’m not against that. That shows that he wants salvation.

But what is lacking for him to get salvation? Preaching. The Bible says that one must be sent. There must be a preacher.

And many of your people today that claim to be ordained ministers and preachers are about as valuable as a rotten egg. Because they are guilty of not preaching the true gospel, the blood-stained gospel of salvation.

And they’re deceiving people by just going to one verse out of context and making them think that it’s what you say with your mouth will save you.

The Pharisees came to God with their lips, but their heart was far from them. Are you saved? It’s a heart matter. Do you believe in the blood of Christ? That’s the correct way of salvation.

So no, no, no, no, no, no, I am not against calling upon the name of the Lord. My enemies now, they will come out and say, ‘Look at this video Breaker made! He’s against Romans 10:13!’ You liar!

You liar! Why don’t you get right with God? And why don’t you preach the gospel correctly? Because you’re on this side. I’m on that side.

Yes, this is great. But you can still be lost if this is all you did. That’s what saves you over there.

And I believe that calling upon the name of the Lord is a matter of the heart, and it’s your faith that calls on God. And I showed you the verses.

Folks, these people that are liars and deceivers, they need to be corrected. You need to give them gospel, you need to give them verses, you need to show them the truth, tell them that you love them and you care about them and you want to see them get saved.

I don’t want to see anybody ignorant, and I do not want to see anyone deceived. Jesus saves, and it’s through His blood that we can find forgiveness of sins.

So one more time: ‘Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ Amen.

How do you call upon the name of the Lord? The right way: in truth, out of the heart, through faith in the blood. Then you have possession of salvation because you have received the atonement and you have been justified, all based upon faith that calls upon God.

All right, God bless you. We’ll see you next time, Lord willing. If you got saved, too, please leave it in the comments. I’d love to hear it. God bless you. Bye-bye.”

“But use wisdom.

Sometimes they’re ripe. Sometimes they’re, sometimes they’re so ready, it frightens you.

I remember one time I was going down the streets in a town in Carolina someplace. I preached in 120 towns within 100 miles of Greenville, South Carolina in six years. On the street.

And I was going down the street one night about 10 o’clock, and I saw a cripple coming up the street. Fellow about 60 years old. I don’t know what he was, a newspaper man or what, but he came up along the street, and I came out to him and I said, ‘Pardon me, sir, are you a Christian?’

And he stopped on his crutches and said, ‘No.’

And I said, ‘Would you like to be saved?’ He said, ‘Yes.’

I said, ‘Well, Christ died for sinners, and He’ll save you if you’ll ask Him. The Bible says, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Why don’t we have a word of prayer?’

Now I was going to take him off the street under one of those arcades by one of those stores to have a word of prayer, and that bird dropped on his knees right in front of me!

And he began to pray, you could have heard that bird for a country mile! Like to have scared me to death!

‘Oh God! I don’t want to go to hell! Oh God, please!’ Oh my stars, man!

Now you don’t know what that guy’s been through before you got to him, but he’s ready. Every once in a while you find them like that. Not often enough.

I preached on the street one time in a little old town called Simpsonville, Carolina. And I got through preaching there, I said, ‘If any of you people here like to receive Christ as your Savior, step forward and take a tract out of my hand.’ See, that’s a kind of a way of giving the invitation.

And nobody came forward, and I started to pack up. About that time, a big old fellow about 6 feet 4, as skinny as a rail, with a cowboy hat on, stepped out there and took a tract.

I said, ‘You going to receive the Lord Jesus?’ He said, ‘Yes, sir, preacher, I think I will.’

I said, ‘Okay, good. Let’s go around behind the store here and have a word of prayer.’

And he took off that hat and dropped on his knees right there in the gutter, and said, ‘No, sir, preacher. I lived all my life in the gutter, and I’m going to get saved in the gutter.’

Amen.

That bird said, ‘I got a Christian wife that’s praying for me, been praying for me 50 years. I’m going home and tell her she got a Christian husband.’

Amen.

Bam!”

Confession For Salvation?

“Well, telling somebody that they have to say something with the mouth to be saved, you know what you’re doing? You’re telling them you have to do something to be saved.

Well, anything that you have to do is a work.

So to tell someone that they have to do something with the mouth to be saved is telling them to do a work. And the Bible says we’re not saved by works. So it sounds like confession doesn’t save us.

But that’s what they teach: confession is for salvation and it saves you. But that’s not what the Bible teaches.”

“’And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.’

You have to receive this atonement right here. That’s called the atonement, what Jesus did.

Can you receive that with your mouth? No, you receive it by the word of faith, which is from the heart.

You can pray. It’s not the prayer that saves you. But after you’ve heard all this, if you’re lost, why not right now you come to God? And from your heart, say something like: ‘I repent of all I believed in. I accept You by faith from the heart. I trust only in Your death, burial, resurrection, Your shed blood, Your finished work. I accept it.’

If it’s from the heart, that’s when you’re saved. You don’t even have to say it with your mouth. You could just think it in your head.”

[21:35 - 23:20] Dr. Peter S. Ruckman

Dr Ruckman answers Breaker in 2013

“’...not of the world, even as I am not of the world.’ What you going to do with that? You’re not going to talk about it.

I haven’t one, I’ve hardly one man say yet, what what happened to a fellow if he didn’t accept the the arrangements that God had made for paying for his sins.

I’ve heard him talk about this atonement, you know, paying all your sins, all your sins are all taken care of, everything’s okay, God took care of it a thousand years ago. Hey, bud, why don’t you tell him how that love shows out if they don’t accept it?

You never mention that, do you? You’ve got to accept what He did. They’re trying to make you think that He did what He did whether you accept it or not. Why, you could stand up and say, ‘Well, I believe that,’ and then go right on living like you’re living and wind up in hell.

You’re not going to get to heaven just because you believe in your head one or two things God said in that book. To get to heaven, you’ve got to accept the one who made the atonement.

Now we have a bunch of nuts today that think that if you pray and ask God to save you and come to Him and pray to Him and ask Him to save you, that’s works, so that doesn’t count, that doesn’t save you.

When that book says, ‘Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ Those people what’s called ‘head people.’ They believe that if you assent to a thing intellectually in your head and believe it as it’s stated, that that takes care of things. It doesn’t if you reject the one that did it.”

“So what are you doing going around telling people just with your mouth come to God and ask Him to save you and call on Him when that’s more over here? Why aren’t you preaching Paul over here: trust what Jesus did?

You sound like an absolute fool who doesn’t know your Bible if that’s the only verse you’re taking people to to try to win them to the Lord.

Are you literally telling them, ‘Hey, do this because I don’t want you to go to the rapture?’

Hey, I’m just, I mean, when a guy’s left behind at the rapture, he’s going to get mad. Guess who he’s going to get mad at first? His preacher. ‘Why am I here? He told me I got saved by repeating a prayer.’”

What The Bible Says About Calling Upon the Lord

“But they’ll say, ‘No, you don’t have to believe in the blood.’ Then why does the Bible say it’s through faith in His blood? Why is ‘through faith in His blood’ in the Bible if it’s not through faith in His blood?

You’re a liar! You’re a deceiver! You’re deceiving people with what I call a bloodless gospel.

Did you know that’s not my term that I made up? I went to Pensacola Bible Institute, and the old pastor there was Peter Ruckman. And that was a term that he made up. My dad always remembered that. My dad went to school there as well. And he said Peter Ruckman used to always preach against that bloodless gospel, that gospel that leaves out the blood of Jesus, that tells people just come to God the best way you know how and come to God with your mouth. That’s what he used to preach.”

Salvation Invitation by Dr Ruckman

“Now you’ve just seen a chalk talk illustrating one of the great truths in the word of God, or several truths. Some of these chalk chalk talks deal with just one subject; some deal with several subjects.

In the message you’ve just heard, you found material for two kinds of people: people who are unsaved and have never trusted Christ as Savior, and material for people who are saved and should be living for God, should be believing the book and living for the Lord.

I have one purpose in bringing you this series of messages, is to get you saved and get you safely home to heaven, or else get you living like a Christian if you’re already a Christian. We have no other purpose in mind.

I’m not here to build anything. I’m not looking at you to promote anything. I’m not facing you in this camera right now to put across anything to you that has anything to do with your pocketbook, or your church membership, or your attendance, or your support. I’m after bigger game: I’m after your soul. I’m after your soul. The money, and the support, and the attendance can wait. There are no gimmicks attached with what you’ve just heard.

I’m anxious for one of two things:

If you’re a child of God, you’ve truly been saved and born again by the Holy Spirit, I’m anxious that you get close in fellowship with your Lord Jesus Christ and stay in fellowship and bear fruit for God and do something for Him before you die and meet Him. That’s the first thing.

The second thing is this: If you’re like most Americans, a poor, superstitious, religious pagan, and most Americans are poor, superstitious, religious pagans; don’t think the heathen are in Africa and Asia and China, the heathen go to Kmart and Shoppers Fair and Montgomery Ward. If you’re a poor, pagan, superstitious, religious, heathen American, lost, I’m anxious that you come to know eternal life through God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.’

You say, ‘Well, how do I do it?’ It’s so simple you’ll miss it.

People want things complicated because they want to get themselves involved where they can get their self-righteousness in there as part of the salvation process.

God made it much simpler in here. He said a dozen times: believe, believe, believe. It is true He said repent, it is true on one occasion He said be baptized, on one occasion He said confess. But the term baptism is never connected with eternal life. The term baptism is never connected with forgiveness of sins. The term baptism is never connected with redemption. The term baptism is never connected with justification. You only hear that kind of nonsense from preachers.

Redemption, justification, eternal life are connected with God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. And in this book, a revelation from God, He says, ‘him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.’ He said if any man wants to come to Me, he can come and take of the water of life freely. That means you. That means you, that means right now. It doesn’t mean next Sunday in church. It doesn’t mean at some sacramental fount or some fount of baptism or some place where you’re christened. It means whosoever will, let him come and take the water of life freely. God offers you something free. You can have it now.

Do you want it? If you don’t, turn off the set. If you want it, listen to me. If you don’t want it, throw it out. If you do want it, here’s how you get it:

Bow your head right there by the set. Don’t feel embarrassed, or tell the other people in the room, tell them to wait till you get through. If you’re by yourself, bow your head. Pray this prayer with me and see if it works. Nothing like being experimental, is there? Nothing like being honest, right? Don’t condemn it, don’t knock it if you never tried it.

Close your eyes and try this prayer with me. Say, ‘Lord Jesus...’ Try it, go on, try it.

‘Lord Jesus...’ You say, ‘I feel funny saying it.’ It’s better than a rubber room.

‘Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner. I don’t want to go to hell when I die.’ Pray it.

Say, ‘I’m going to trust You right now as my Savior, and the best way I know how, I’m going to trust You as my own, receive You as my own Savior.’ Try it. Right now.

Say, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner, and save my soul, and Lord, let me know I’m saved.’ Go on, try Him out. Some of you tried out everything else, God knows. Why don’t you try something that works?

‘Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner. Please save my soul, let me know I’m saved. I’m going to trust You from now on, and nothing but You, and nobody but You to save my soul and give me eternal life. And thank You, Lord, for dying for my sins.’

Try it. Pray it. It works. It works. ‘Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’

It works.”
