Robert Breaker’s The Unbroken Chain of Salvation: A Timeline of the AI-Generated Quotes
Summary
On December 22, 2025, Robert Breaker released The Unbroken Chain of Salvation by Faith in The Blood, a book that says it documents twenty centuries of preachers teaching salvation by faith in the blood of Christ.
Many of the book’s quotations were generated by an AI chatbot rather than taken from the historical sources. By Breaker’s and Robert Potthoff’s own descriptions, an AI was asked to produce “verbatim quotes.” In my audit, only 3 of Chapter 8’s 78 quotes are genuine; 44 are AI-generated and 31 could not be verified. In Chapter 9, 87 of 91 quotes appear to be AI-generated and 4 could not be verified.
On February 16, 2026, Breaker said on a livestream that he had unpublished the book and wanted to fix it. The physical editions were pulled, but the English and Spanish digital editions stayed on sale. The Kindle edition I read on October 2, 2026 had not been revised.
What I can and can’t establish
Established from primary sources: the dates, videos and listings below; what Breaker and Potthoff said on camera; and the fact that the quotes discussed here do not appear in the sources they are credited to.
Someone else’s work: the Chapter 8 spreadsheet was built by Tony (YouTube: Jeremiah333-Jesus Saves). It is credited to him, and the appendix is his work, not mine. I corresponded with Tony early in 2026; we are no longer in contact, and nothing in this article depends on anything he told me privately. His actions do not represent me.
My speculation is marked when it appears, I.E why Robert Breaker hasn't removed it.
I have written critically of Breaker’s soteriology before (the series Robert Breaker’s Salvation Theology Is a Modern Doctrine). I am not a neutral party, however I have tried to let the primary sources carry the argument.
The book and its listing
The Amazon description calls the book “thoroughly documented” and says it draws on “modern A.I. search engine analysis.” It also promises to show “why A.I. itself confesses” that faith in the blood is necessary to be saved. So the book advertised its use of AI from day one. What the listing did not say is that AI was also used to produce quotations attributed to historical figures.
Timeline
December 2025
December 22. The book is released.
December 23. In “My New Book is Now Out!”, Breaker says he gives “many, many, many quotes” from well-known preachers and from Independent Baptist preachers. He encourages viewers to take the book to their pastors to see “whether or not they are preaching the true message of salvation.” Whatever one thinks of that goal, it made the book’s accuracy a practical matter: readers were being asked to measure their pastors against it.
December 26. In “Do All Baptists Preach Faith in the Blood?”, Breaker says that asking Jesus into your heart or praying for salvation comes from Unitarianism and Universalism. Two things are worth checking.
Church historian Thomas Kidd, in “‘Ask Jesus into Your Heart’: A History of the Sinner’s Prayer” (The Gospel Coalition), traces that language to Puritan and evangelical roots, not Unitarian or Universalist ones. I checked his research and it holds up.
Early Christian writers describe asking and praying to God for salvation. Two examples:
“Jonah proclaimed destruction to the Ninevites; but they, repenting of their sins, propitiated God by prayer, and obtained salvation, although they were aliens of God.” (Clement of Rome, 1 Clement 7, c. 96–97 A.D.)
“Necessarily he set forth ‘those who call upon him.’ For God does not give grace without discernment, extending it even to those who are unwilling to offer so much to the Benefactor as at least to ask and pray with him. And lest anyone say that many fail to call upon the Lord Jesus out of ignorance rather than unbelief and ingratitude, he shows through what follows that God took away even the excuse of their ignorance, sending evangelists and heralds who urge and invite them to ask for the gift. Therefore he added what follows.” (Diodore of Tarsus, on Romans 10:11–13, 4th century)
They make it hard to call asking God for salvation a modern invention.
December 27. “Will You Have Any Rewards in Heaven?” Breaker ties heavenly rewards to his view of salvation and repeatedly tells viewers to buy the book.
December 28. In “Faith in the Blood has been Preached for 2000 Years Now!!!”, Breaker holds up a proof copy, says he has ordered 10 copies, and reports that the book has sold 325 copies, adding that this matches Romans 3:25. This matters later: it shows he checks his sales numbers. Viewers, he says, are giving the book to relatives and to pastors.
That same day he posted “Is This the Worst Gospel Tract Ever?” which also links the book in its description.
December 30. In “Are you Deceived by Another Gospel?”, Breaker reads from notes in an 1800s family Bible that a viewer sent him. I can’t find those notes online, and there is no way to verify what the Bible says beyond Breaker’s word. (I discuss this in Part 4 of my series.)
January 2026
January 4. In “Should Have Added This To My New Book!!!”, Breaker sings two hymns about the blood as further historical support.
January 15, “Saved by Your Prayer?” Breaker presents 52 quotes from historical figures said to deny the sinner’s prayer. As far as I can tell, only one of the 52 is real, and it has been modified; the other 51 trace back only to Breaker. They share a pattern: deny the sinner’s prayer, affirm the blood. That pattern is my reason for suspecting more AI-generated quotes. This is a provisional finding, and the full results will come in a separate series.
January 15, “Why I Wrote This Book!” This is the most substantive of the promotional videos. Breaker says he traveled to libraries and Bible schools across America looking for quotes from old preachers. He also says his mother read the book and told him, “I don’t think you wrote that book. I think God wrote that book.” He replied that the Holy Spirit helped, but he wrote it.
He then reads quotes from Chapter 8. Three are worth comparing with the real sources.
Gregory the Great, c. 600: “Not the ceremonies of man, but faith in His sacrifice.” Gregory was a pope, which is an odd witness for a Baptist argument, and this quotation does not check out.
John Wesley: “By faith in His blood. Through faith in His blood, here lies the way to justification: not by merit nor penance, but by a believing trust in the blood of Jesus Christ.” Wesley, in The Means of Grace, actually taught: “all who desire the grace of God are to wait for it in the way of prayer… Ask, and it shall be given you.”
John Chrysostom, c. 400: “The blood has done everything… Let us then come boldly, not trusting ourselves, but trusting the blood.” In his Homily 10 on Acts, Chrysostom says: “Call upon Him for the benefit of your enemy; call upon Him for the salvation of your own soul; then He will be present.”
In the same video Breaker says, “I never found any quote of them saying, ‘Just ask Jesus into your heart,’ or ‘Ask God to save you.’” The Wesley, Chrysostom, Clement and Diodore passages above all describe asking God for salvation.
A note on timing: While he said he had quotes from historical figures, only 3 of the entire 78 quotes were real, and those were on the Eucharist. And of those quotes, he said that the AI was implicitly mistaken about the "blood in the cup" and the blood on the cross. So those aren't applicable.
January 18. Tony publishes “Robert Breaker book: The Unbroken Chain of Salvation by Faith in the Blood: WARNING!”, which goes through part of Chapter 8.
January 24. In “Never Stop Preaching Faith in the Blood!!!”, which links the book in its description, Breaker responds to critics: “I’m not making these up… These books are out there. You can find them.” He says he has 35 pages of Dr. Ruckman quotes about the blood on his RRB3 site. I couldn’t find 35 pages. What I did find is a page quoting Ruckman’s The Simplicity of Salvation (1987): “If you don’t know that, it’s because you are lost.” The same book ends with an invitation to pray:
“Wherever you are, bow your head and pray a simple prayer something like this: ‘Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and unless you save me, I am lost forever. I now come to you, the best way I know how, and ask you to save me.’”
This is the pattern of selective quotation I describe in my earlier series: sources are cited for the blood while the rest of their teaching is left out.
January 27. Tony publishes “Robert Breaker’s new Book, Chapter 8,” a video that goes through a spreadsheet of every Chapter 8 quote and finds all but three of the 78 to be fake. The spreadsheet is reproduced in the appendix, with his permission and credit. At my request he corrected the John Wesley entry.
Note on Wesley: Tony’s notes on Wesley conflate Wesley’s view of confession in Romans 10 with petitionary salvation. Wesley did teach that people should ask God for grace as a means of grace, but he did not harmonize that with his comments on Romans 10.
February 2026
February 16: the livestream. Breaker and Robert Potthoff, a Breaker supporter, hold a livestream titled “Learning About A.I. (How to Use It).” The main points:
The accounts of who used the AI conflict. Breaker says he was overextended, that he “went to brother Potthoff” to fill in missing material, and that Potthoff “went to AI.” Potthoff says he prompted the AI to produce verbatim quotes and then twice asked it to verify them. By June 2 Breaker is saying, “I went to AI and asked for some truths.” The livestream and the June video can’t both be the whole story.
“The spirit of the quote.” Potthoff says the AI sometimes “gave me the spirit of the quote instead of the actual quote,” because some sources were in Latin or Greek and were translated. A quotation in quotation marks is a claim that those are the words in the source. A language model can’t supply the spirit of a text it hasn’t read.
Potthoff says the only method he would recommend is using agent mode, one person at a time, with the AI showing where it found each quote. Neither man says that was done for Chapter 8, which suggests it was ordinary prompting (which is not connected to RAG).
What Breaker admitted. He said he trusted the AI, that “some of them are paraphrases without a doubt and some may even be made up,” and that he wasn’t comfortable with that doubt. He told listeners they could ask Amazon for refunds, said he had unpublished the book, and said he would rewrite it.
He also tried to explain some of the quotes by saying AI had pulled Roman Catholic statements about the blood in the sacrament, “the wrong blood,” and leaned on Augustine, whose wider soteriology is not a Baptist one. That is only applicable to the three out of context quotes, the remaining 75 are just fake.
What was and wasn’t taken down. The physical English and Spanish editions were pulled. The digital English and Spanish editions were not. I can’t say why. It may be oversight, HOWEVER Breaker has said he follows his sales figures. As of October 2, 2026, the Kindle edition was still on sale.
March–June 2026
March 1. In “True Baptists Preach Faith in the Blood!!!”, Breaker reads commentaries I cover in Parts 2 and 3 of my series against his livestream "Faith in the Blood is not a modern doctrine". One is from Hyde Park Publishers, whose church explicitly supports the sinner’s prayer and tells readers to pray one to be saved. At the end he holds up a physical copy of The Unbroken Chain and says anyone not preaching the blood atonement is “preaching another gospel.”
June 2. In “AI or ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE Walkin and A-Talking,” Breaker describes the Chapter 8 episode in the first person. “So we went to AI and we asked for quotes on faith in the blood,” he says, then: “I went to AI and asked for some truths and it says here are verbatim historically documented quotes.” He adds that “AI gave me some paraphrases and didn’t give me the actual quotes.” He also says he uses AI to make thumbnails, and he complains in the same video that AI is bad for research. This, of course is contradicting the idea that Potthoff was the one who generated the AI quotes.
July 2026
July 14. Breaker uploads “DON’T LET THE DEVIL WIN! Walkin and A-Talking.” The thumbnail appears to be AI-generated: Breaker looks on while a devil figure is trampled by a foot belonging to Jesus. To my eye the devil resembles a television personality who shares my name, Tyler McLaughlin of Wicked Tuna. I can’t know the prompt, and I can’t say it was aimed at me. An image generator given a name will often reproduce a well-known namesake, which may be all that happened. I include it because it fits a pattern: Breaker said on June 2 that he uses AI for thumbnails, and he kept doing so.
What the Amazon reviews show
Here are the reviews since the livestream, in order. Reviewer names are omitted. All are on the English edition unless noted, and “paperback” and “Kindle” are the format Amazon displays.
Feb. 16, 5★ (paperback). Praises salvation by grace rather than works. It doesn’t address the book’s quotations.
Feb. 18, 2★ (listed as paperback; the reviewer’s text refers to a Kindle copy). A longtime Breaker viewer objects to the book’s quoting of Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen, calling them wolves. Two people found it helpful. No later review was marked helpful.
Feb. 19, 5★ (paperback). “An absolute necessity” for those who want the true history of salvation by faith in the blood.
Mar. 7, 5★ (Spanish edition, format not shown). A gift for Spanish-speaking friends: “Without the Blood there is no remission.”
Mar. 8, 5★ (paperback). “A must read,” lots of scripture, a great gift for someone unsaved.
Apr. 20, 5★ (paperback). “If you want to know about Christ, get the book.”
May 9, 5★ (paperback). “Excellent!”
Jul. 18, 5★ (Kindle). Praises the “historical evidence throughout the church age” and asks, “When do we get it in paperback?”
Aug. 16, 5★ (paperback). Praises Breaker and says the book “thoroughly documents the history of the Gospel.”
Sep. 9, 5★ (paperback). “Jesus, one time blood sacrifice for all. Read it.”
Sep. 25, 5★ (format not shown). “Love this book!!… I follow him on YouTube.”
Two observations. First, none of these reviews mentions the quote controversy, and the ratings stayed high afterward. The livestream did not seem to reach many buyers. Second, several “paperback” reviews appear after the physical edition was pulled. They may reflect earlier purchases or third-party sellers (Breaker said third parties could still sell it), and the July 18 reviewer’s request for a paperback fits the physical edition being unavailable.
Where things stand
On October 2, 2026 I subscribed to Kindle Unlimited to read the current edition. It has not been updated. Chapters 8 and 9 are unchanged, and I found no correction or notice.
I take him at his word, that the original instance was just a sincere mistake. The problem is what came after: the accounts of who used the AI don’t match, “spirit of the quote” is not an acceptable defense for quotations in quotation marks, and digital copies, which are still on sale, carry fabricated attributions to Wesley, Chrysostom and others. A real correction would mean pulling every edition, publishing the list of failed quotes, and telling people who gave the book to others that its quotations can’t be relied on.
Appendix: Tony’s Chapter 8 spreadsheet
This spreadsheet is Tony’s work, not mine. Any notes marking a quote real, fake or unknown are his, except the Wesley correction noted above. The original is hosted here: https://blogs.crossmap.com/stories/robert-breakers-unbroken-chain-chapter-8-every-quote-fact-checked-Tmn8-4FjqzshMDQxkdJ3m
I am currently in the process of fact checking every quote he marked as unknown (31). I will edit the article to include that, when I have finished it.
