Sunday Stillness - Galatians 5:22-23 - Growing Through God's Word
Sunday Stillness – Galatians 5:22-23
Do you have the fruit of the Spirit in your home? I have had first hand experience with it this past month. Watching the interaction of my daughter, my son-in-law, and my grandson as they welcome a new addition to their family – what an experience.
I have seen the fruit of the Spirit. We know the passage from Galatians in the KJV and NIV but read it here in The Message:
But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely (Galatians 5:22-23, The Message).
There is no selfishness in this home, no sense of control. There are gentle words of encouragement for one another. There is a peace and understanding of each other.
Our grandson (2 years old) has been allowed to hold, touch, cuddle, pat and kiss his newborn sister since he saw her when she was 9 hours old. Even though he is quite strong and can be rough without thinking he is very gentle with “his new baby”. That is self-control. He loves to help and that is showing kindness.
He cannot wait to see her and hold her – pure joy in his face.
When she cries he gets upset although he is learning that her cries are her way of communicating. That is faithfulness and love.
And of course, patience. Not rushing a toddler to “do it now”. Having time to explain the reasons. Listening to what is going on in his mind. That takes a lot of patience.
And each day – we say, all is good. Even with sickness, with testing twos, with tired bodies, we know the goodness that surrounds us.
Yes here in this home we have the fruit of the Spirit. Praising God.
We remember that each moment is a gift from God.
Is there anything that is blocking the fruit of the Spirit in your family?
Stop, check, and pray for wisdom and for the Holy spirit to teach you the fruit of the Spirit.
When you feel unfilled – fill up with the Holy Spirit.
Jesus guides, builds and shows us His way. Blessings on a great week.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to be with us. Thanks for showing us the fruit of the Spirit that is so necessary in our daily lives. Help us to remember to ask You for help. Thank you that we can stick to what we believe and trust in You always. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Today is Sunday Stillness.
Read the Sunday Stillness rules if you are new here.
I would appreciate if you would link only about God’s Word. If you have a linky party that’s okay if it is about the same thing. Please no sales or prizes. I want this to be friendly but I must ask you to abide by the rules. Others want to read God’s Word – and that is what I would like the links to be about. I must take down the links that don’t follow the rules. Thanks so much.
