The 52 Witnesses: A Complete Fact-Check of Robert Breaker’s ‘Saved by Your Prayer?’ John R. Rice through D.L. Moody

Thank you to Brother Don Nesbitt, the Lord's bloodhound. His youtube handle is @w46try7

On January 15, 2026, Robert Breaker released the video "Saved by Your Prayer?" In it, he quotes 52 people all saying, quote-unquote, that the sinner's prayer is wrong.

Here he is, very arrogant about this.

This is a fact check of every single one of these quotes.

I will divide the article into 5 separate posts, and spend every article fact checking 10 of them.

I want to definitively clarify my salvation beliefs, and Robert Breaker's salvation beliefs, as Robert Breaker does not believe in a generic sola fide.

Let's establish mine. Dr. Ruckman, take the stage.

Dr. Ruckman, Romans Study 26 & 27, timestamp 28:18: "The word is nigh thee, near thee. It's right on your lips. It's right in your heart. It's present. You have access to it. You don't have to go anywhere. You don't have to study anything. You don't have to learn anything. There's nothing to attain. It is the word of faith which we preach, and here it comes, the simplest, clearest presentation of salvation found anywhere in either testament. Two conditions. If, if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus. Number two. And shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. No ifs, ands, buts about it. And notice the heart is not changed. The heart believes on Christ in its regular condition. There is no overpowering of the sinner by the irresistible grace of God, which transforms him against his will into a new creature so he can receive Christ, and all that Calvinistic baloney. It's saying that an unsaved man is in his natural condition, and he's told if you believe something in your heart and confess it with your mouth, God will give you the new birth, God will save you, and impute to you righteousness and justify you. Verse 10: for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, works are not a pointed issue, with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. You see how insane some men get when they're trying to prove a lie. This is the work of God, that you believe on him who is sent. That's God's work, not yours. You see that business. You don't classify that with getting baptized and holding out to the end and doing all this junk."

Dr. Ruckman, Romans Study 26 & 27, timestamp 31:21: "For Isaiah said, Lord, who hath believed our report? In front of words, to obey the gospel is to believe the gospel, and you believe from the heart. And we made comment on this earlier when we talked about believing in vain. And you might review those remarks we made, and we made them in connection with Romans 6, verse 17. All right, believe, confess. That's the long and short of it. With the heart, man believeth unto righteousness. You can talk all day about a man believing an elevator will take him up, but he needs to get into it. You speak of a man having nerve or having guts or having backbone, so you understand perfectly what God means when he says, believe in your heart. A man told a friend of mine, he was a skeptic, this man, he told a friend of mine, he said, your heart's just an organ, it can't believe. And my friend said, well, it may be an organ, but every time it hears the name of Jesus, it plays amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. You understand what God means when he says, heart, don't put on airs. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. It's just that simple. You say that's all there is to it? That's all there is to it. You say, well, anybody can believe. No, they don't. It says believe in your heart, your affections, what you love. That is, you come to Christ as a sinner and you lay hold of him with your heart as your only hope, your only God, your only Savior, and you confess him as Lord, L-O-R-D. It is no matter of just believing some abstract doctrine about salvation. It's nothing just as simple as repenting, confessing, believing, being baptized, like the water dogs say. It's a matter of laying hold with the heart of a person who is living and risen, who died for you on the cross, and confessing him as Lord, Jehovah, Jesus. Jehovah saves. God manifest in the flesh dying to save you from your sins. And if you haven't done that, you haven't obeyed the gospel no matter what else you've done."

The problem is with Robert Breaker's salvation beliefs. His soteriology is that it can nearly seem like a standard position. But it is not.

Robert Breaker teaches that what a person is saved by is mentally trusting in the blood of Jesus Christ, itself. You have to consciously point at the blood of Jesus Christ for salvation.

Breaker: "mouth he's looking at your heart and he's looking to see when does your heart trust the blood alone for salvation you can come to him begging him please don't send me to hell but it's not until from the heart you're trusting in the blood that you're saved"

Robert Breaker's soteriology is trusting in the blood of Jesus Christ.

"So when I say trust the blood, believe in the blood, I have always mentioned the whole gospel, explained it in the gospel and said trust the blood means you're trusting in the death, burial, resurrection according to the scriptures for our sins because it's his offering of his blood on the cross and then offering it on the mercy seat in heaven."

"It's not the death that saves you. It's how he died and what he did when he rose from the dead. And it's all focused on the blood. For it is the blood that maketh atonement for the soul."

To put it in layman's terms, according to Breaker, the gospel which is the death, burial and resurrection all point to the blood of Jesus Christ, so you must trust with your heart in the blood of Christ and then you are saved.

Fun fact: He actually replies to me in this video!

"And it's not just, as this guy said, a mental assent. Oh, I just believe it with my head. It's trusting in it with all of your heart. There's some people out there that believe it with their head, but they've never accepted it with their heart. That's somebody who's not saved."

I used the term mental assent against Breaker, and was the first to do so.

(I'm not bragging, I made the timeline. There but for the grace of God go I. If I ever did anything good, it was God working through me as his vessel.)

I later will reply to Breaker, if you keep reading.

Now, Robert Breaker nearly seems "orthodox," nearly. If you take a Lutheran and ask them, they'd say "oh you're saved by trusting in the gospel" but Breaker doesn't teach that. What he teaches is that you are saved by explicitly trusting with all your heart internally in the blood of Christ, which he views as the gospel as he believes the gospel is more or less entirely the blood.

(Orthodox in quotes as Diodorus of Tarsus, and John Chrysostom in the 4th century taught you had to pray as a condition for salvation, meaning having two conditions is perfectly historical.)

If you're confused by that, watch my 3 part series on 1 Corinthians 15.

Dr. Ruckman taught you trust in Christ, you just had to believe and confess to receive, or Lester Roloff who said "Prayer doesn't save you but if you've never prayed, you've never been saved," that is faith plus works according to Breaker.

Robert Breaker: "is to confess with their mouth that the Lord is Jesus or Jesus is the Lord wouldn't that be Israel so when I read Romans 10 I see Jews asking Paul hey what about Israel and he says well if a guy is is a Jew and he has confessed that Jesus is his Lord that Jesus is his Messiah right and if he believes that God had raised him from the dead well then he can be saved right so he believes in who and what then you'll be saying right i don't think he's telling you you have to do both and that you have to say with the mouth or you're not safe right right right if he's saying you have to believe from your heart in something and say it with your mouth at the same time then that would be a faith plus works according to breaker gospel right and that would nullify what jesus did because it's not just what he did it's what you say which would be a work"

This is another part where Robert Breaker nearly seems orthodox.

John Rice taught that to be saved, you just have to trust in the gospel NOT SPECIFICALLY the blood of Jesus Christ as the object of faith, you can also pray too and God wants you to pray but you can just believe and be saved.

Robert Breaker nearly sounds orthodox and says, you just have to have heart trust in the SPECIFIC blood of Jesus Christ to save you, and you can pray while doing that, as long as you don't trust the prayer.

"3. You have always preached a lousy 'Milton Gospel' established in your hometown, (Milton, Fla.)..." - Dr. Peter S. Ruckman in a letter to Robert Breaker from 2010, https://archive.is/1Ub0P#selection-1905.0-1914.0

Breaker: "You can be saved when you pray, but it's not the prayer that saves you."

Actually, he does teach that you can pray. November 16, 2018 Breaker.

Breaker: "I'm not against prayer I don't teach that if you prayed you're lost my daddy got saved while he was praying but he didn't pray oh god please save me he was praying and my dad said Lord I'm a sinner and I trust you and you alone in your finished work I trust your blood and as he was praying that he believed that from the heart and that's why he was saved because salvation is through the belief that shalt believe in thine heart it's from the heart that the belief comes and that belief must be in what you know what you've heard the gospel and understood oh it's what Jesus did"

In fact, he teaches that a lot.

Maybe older Robert Breaker was corrupted with the 1-2-3 repeat after me Hylesism but the young Robert Breaker taught it straight!

Preach October 9th, 2010 Breaker!

Robert Breaker: "you see the confession isn't what saves you it's the belief in the heart so if you're not saved and you want to be saved and you don't want to go to hell why don't you just bow your head and close your eyes and just go to the Lord and tell him that what you've heard from the scripture today is true because the Bible says it is now why don't you say I accept what you've done for me I'd rely upon that finished work I trust your blood to save my soul see the prayer isn't what saves you it's whether or not your faith is in the shed blood of Jesus Christ if your faith is not in that blood then you're not saved if your faith is in that blood then you're on your way to heaven"

Wow, isn't that something? Confession isn't what saves you, it's belief in the heart, but if you want to be saved, repeat this prayer after me.

Boy, and Breaker says we do a shallow form of soulwinning.

I at least tell anyone I'm evangelizing, Jesus is God, who died, was buried and rose again, how they don't need to pray a specific formula, God just wants them to believe in the Lord's death, burial and resurrection which is the gospel, pick up the telephone and call upon him.

Well, hopefully June 9th, 2027 Breaker didn't preach a blood sinner's prayer.

Breaker: "blood atonement of Jesus Christ that salvation it's not our blood that we sacrifice that will get us to heaven it's not what we do we can't get to God without the shedding of blood there's no remission since we can't even comment on let's there's some blood for us and here shed his blood Jesus Christ now I want to call on God we'll have to come through the blood so how do I call upon God I trust that blood when I trust the blood Romans 3:25 says Jesus becomes my substitute my propitiation he becomes my sacrifice he now is the forgiveness of my sins because I my faith received what Jesus did for me through faith in his blood to declare his righteousness notice what I'm doing I'm declaring Jesus righteous I'm saying the only way I can come to you is through what you did I trust your blood because that's the only thing that I can accept that will forgive me so I come to you that's understanding salvation calling through a blood atonement you have to trust the blood to declare his righteousness"

Okay, Romans 3 vs Romans 10 for Salvation. April 7th, 2018.

Breaker please debunk the need to do a sinner's prayer.

Breaker: "where's the blood and ask Jesus into your heart where's the blood and asking God to save you what if you ask God to save you but your faith is not in the blood of Christ are you saved no a thousand times no now there are people that have heard the gospel and they come to God and say God you know I do trust the blood Lord I'm praying right now and I say God I trust your blood and now I'm safe because it's trusting from the heart but if someone comes to God says God I don't want to go to hell I don't know what to do I just throw myself on you and just ask you please save me are they safe where's the faith in the blood"

Maybe Breaker actually just means a sinner's prayer not containing the blood?

2023

Breaker: "verse 5 much more than being now justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him verse 11 and not only so but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ by whom we have now received the atonement salvation is receiving the atonement of Christ by faith yes amen it's not oh God now please save me now because I want to be safe sincerity is not what saves us you could be very sincere when you pray that but if you haven't trusted in the blood are you receiving salvation are you just begging for it and uh I call that the Beggars gospel I could sit here and say Ray please give me ten thousand dollars does he give it to me because I asked him for it"

Huh.

So, Breaker explicitly teaches the sinner's prayer because if you're saved by already believing in the blood, why ask God to save you, why ask God to save you? Instead of, oh I don't know, thanking him?

You can't even say it's the internal expression of your heart, if you're saved by already believing, then why ask him to save you after the fact?

Is Breaker very contradictory?

The answer is yes!

Some people on this list will believe that while prayer isn't needed, it can be a vehicle to be saved by faith. That is faith plus works according to Breaker, according to Robert Breaker. There is no other way to say it.

Not everyone on here believes prayer is a condition for salvation, such as Diodorus of Tarsus, John Chrysostom, Martin Luther and John Wesley, Dr. Peter S. Ruckman and Lester Roloff. (Boy, and they say Bible Believers aren't diverse).

1. John R. Rice

Breaker: "Many believe that a sinner cannot be saved without a period of prayer. Without conscientiously calling upon God with their mouth. However, the Bible does not say that a sinner must pray in order to be saved. In fact, immediately following the verse in Romans 10:13 is an explanation which shows that calling on God is an evidence of faith in the heart and that is really faith which settles the matter."

Breaker: "No matter how long he prays, if he does not trust in Christ, he can never be saved. If he trusts in Christ without conscientious prayer, then he is saved already. There is just one plan of salvation and just one step a sinner must take to secure it. That step is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ."

Breaker: "The prayer does not save. Faith in Christ saves. Saying words does not save the sinner."

The first and second quotes are out of context, and the third doesn't exist.

The first and second are also modified.

"Many people believe" changed to "Many believe"

"without consciously calling on God" changed to "Without conscientiously calling upon God with their mouth"

"consciously" changed to "conscientiously"

"calling on God" changed to "calling upon God with their mouth"

"and that it is really faith" changed to "and that is really faith"

John R. Rice says in What Must I Do to Be Saved?: The Plan of Salvation Made Plain to Sinners from the Word of God

In section, Can One Be Saved Without Prayer?

"In the Bible there are many cases of sinners who prayed like the thief on the cross or the publican in the Temple. In fact, Romans 10:13 says:

'For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'

Many people believe that a sinner cannot be saved without a period of prayer, without consciously calling on God. However, the Bible does not say that a sinner must pray in order to be saved. In fact, immediately following the verse in Romans 10:13 is an explanation which shows that calling on God is an evidence of faith in the heart and that it is really faith which settles the matter. Read it again.

'For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?'—Romans 10:13,14.

The Lord encourages the sinner to pray, and the Lord hears and answers the sinner's prayer if that sinner trusts in Jesus Christ for salvation when he prays. He heard the prayer of the thief on the cross, of the publican in the Temple, of blind Bartimaeus. But the Scripture says, 'How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?'

Certainly every one who is to be saved must believe. Prayer is evidence of faith. No matter how long one prays, if he does not trust in Christ, he can never be saved. If he trusts in Christ without conscious prayer, then he is saved already. There is just one plan of salvation and just one step a sinner must take to secure it. That step is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ!

Some way we preachers have left the impression on this poor world of sinners that God is hardhearted and that it takes many tears and loud cries and long periods of sorrow before He will hear and save the sinner. We have left the impression that God does not care whether sinners are saved or not, and that sinners must some way touch the heart of God and get Him ready to forgive. What a slander on a good and holy God who 'so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.'

Man's sins are already paid for, God's wrath is already turned away from any sinner who wants to be saved. Both the Father and the Son are a million times more anxious to save every sinner than the sinner can be to get saved! Thank God, I do not have to beg God to forgive my sins. He will do it the minute I am willing to trust it with Him."

So, Robert Breaker's quote is not only fake but the only part that is real is IMMEDIATELY the opposite of what he says. Ain't that something?

https://www.wholesomewords.org/resources/saved.html

John R. Rice is still faith plus works according to Robert Breaker. The prayer cannot be a vehicle according to Robert Breaker to be saved through faith. So if anyone believes and prays, they're damned to hell as that is faith plus works according to Breaker, right Breaker? He said it! Unless he supports what Dr. Ruckman taught, the two conditions.

TEXT SCREEN:

I believe in the most literal view of Romans 10:9.

Robert Breaker believes in a spiritual view of Romans 10:9.

(He spiritualizes the mouth and says you're saved by having "heart trust" in the blood)

See Proverbs 28:26 for the Holy Spirit's commentary on Robert Breaker's doctrine.

John R. Rice is the centrist view.

2. Jack Hyles

"By the way, you folks who don't come on Wednesday night don't know this, but about twenty-two years ago, in a little East Texas Church, I came up with a little plan of presenting the plan of salvation called 'The Roman Road' whereby you take verses contained in Romans and show people how to be saved using Romans 3:10, and Romans 3:23, and Romans 5:12, and Romans 5:8, and on and on. I termed it, 'The Roman Road,' and from the 'Roman Road' I wrote the little book, 'Let's Go Soul Winning.' Over one hundred and thirty-five thousand copies of that book have been printed. It has been translated into several foreign languages: Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, French, and others, and has literally gone around the world." - Jack Hyles, "There Remaineth Yet Very Much Land to Be Possessed" https://www.jackhyles.com/muchland.htm

It should be said logos.com's Tobin Perry wrote "Jack Hyles, the (in)famous twentieth-century independent Baptist pastor, claimed to have invented the system in a 1970 sermon. This can't be verified. At any rate, because the verses were short, easy to memorize, and expressed such a compact description of salvation, the Romans Road to Salvation spread quickly as a tool for Christians to share their faith." - https://www.logos.com/grow/nook-romans-road-salvation/

Breaker: "The prayer does not save. The prayer is the expression of faith, but faith is what saves. It is not the words of the prayer that save a man."

This is an apocryphal quote. The only source is Robert Breaker.

Why is Breaker even trying to do a non real quote of Jack Hyles?

I will give every single instance of Robert Breaker badmouthing Hyles on his soteriology, here.

There may have been some I missed, which only makes it worse for Breaker due to him attacking Hyles more. The website I use isn't perfect.

"Oh a person doesn't have to hear or understand the gospel to get saved though a person doesn't need it here and so they do is they preach this new doctrine a lot of it comes from the Hyles person who started we called the Romans Road there's one two three pray after me you know repeat a prayer and they put all the emphasis on the calling from the mouth rather than the calling upon the Lord from the heart" - Robert Breaker, Calling For Salvation: Romans 10:13 in its Biblical Context, 46:50 April 21, 2017

"where are they getting this from they're perverting the gospel they're going to Romans 10 rather than Romans chapter 3 now there's another thing called the sinner's prayer where does the sinner's prayer come from well many years ago there was a man named Jack Hyles and this is how it works I've met many people from high alert and Jack house was a protege or was taught by a man named Jonah rice in John our rice and his deathbed he says I have made a monster with Jack Hyles that was the last words how Jonah Rice's mouth Jonah rice was a favorite famous preacher and genre rice was talking to Jack Hyle's this man Jack house was a man who had a really big church in Illinois and Gentiles I've been studying it I'm trying to figure this out and it looks to me okay I'm not going to say dogmatically the Jack Hyle started the Romans wrote but it appears to be that he was one of the main people that pushed the teaching of the Romans Road so the Romans Road is this alright maybe use hurt you've heard of the Romans Road and this is something that people use nowadays and they try to win souls with what they call the Romans Road I have been out with people that are using the Roman Road I've been to churches that were hyo's churches I have talked to these people and there are some of the shallowest soul winners I've ever seen'" - Robert Breaker, Romans 3 vs Romans 10 for Salvation, 22:11 April 7, 2018,

"my understanding was started by a guy named Hyles Jack Hyles and it's basically he went to Romans and he said let's take a couple verses out and let's use those verses for how you get safe and the last first is always Romans 10:13 and usually now it's only four versus so you tell a person these four verses and then you say now pray after me or repeat after me or are asked Jesus to save you based upon Romans 10:13 and the twisting of the word calling" - Robert Breaker, THE NEW WORLD ORDER Old Livestream Max Bauer Channel, 2:00:04, January 9, 2019

It should be clarified Diodorus of Tarsus and John Chrysostom both took calling to mean prayer, and they were 4th century Antiochene Christians.

"Necessarily he set forth 'those who call upon (ἐπικαλουμένους) him.' For God does not give grace indiscriminately, and to those who do not wish it, he does not supply it so much that they do not at least ask and pray to the benefactor. But lest anyone say that many do not call upon (παρακαλοῦσιν) the Lord Jesus not because of unbelief and ingratitude but because of ignorance, he shows through what follows that God also took away the excuse of their ignorance, sending evangelists and heralds exhorting and calling them to the request for the gift. Therefore he added what follows." - Diodorus of Tarsus/Diodore of Tarsus, Romans 10:11-13

"We have despised God, we have hated that good Name, we have trodden Christ under foot, we have lost all reverence, none names the Name of God with honor. Yet if you love any one, even at his name you start to your feet; but God you thus continually invoke, and make nothing of it. Call upon Him for the benefit of your enemy; call upon Him for THE SALVATION of your own soul; then he will be present, then you will delight Him; whereas now you provoke Him to anger. Call upon Him as Stephen did; 'Lord,' he said, 'lay not this sin to their charge.' [Acts 7:59] Call upon Him as did the wife of Elkanah, with tears and sobs, and prayers. [1 Samuel 1:10] I prevent you not, rather I earnestly exhort you to it. Call upon him as Moses called upon Him, yea, cried, interceding for those who had driven him into banishment." - John Chrysostom, Homily 10 on the Acts of the Apostles

"I got a wonderful phone call phone call here before I started about Oh 40 minutes before we started and it was an Independent Baptist preacher and he said that his wife had gotten saved a few days ago he said his wife was very big into the Hyles movement and she just did what they said all that time was all part of that church but she had done a little prayer and she was trusting in her prayer she wasn't saved by that and through my teaching on YouTube the husband who was a pastor he he preached to her he tried to show her what the Bible says but she didn't want to hear it but finally she accepted I said you know yeah yeah I doubt if I'm saved or not because I'm trusting in my prayer I'm not trusting in the blood and so he was excited that his wife got saved and that's almost same testimony as my wife you get in this religious system and the system teaches man's opinion rather than by and that's the problem with the day a lot of people are going around teaching their tradition or what they think the Bible says and it's their opinion but you have to go by what the scripture" - Robert Breaker, Salvation through Faith ALONE (only) in the whole Bible, July 22, 2019, 1:30:34

FYI: No one teaches that the prayer saves you, however to quote Lester Roloff "the prayer doesn't save you, but if you've never prayed, you've never been saved." You have to ask and pray for God's grace, which think Romans 10:14, to even ask for it, you have to believe in the gospel, that the grace exists, and then God gives it. The praying and asking doesn't save, God saves, but God wants you to ask and pray.

Also, Breaker's theology is an invented doctrine in the 1970s by his father.

The Bible says call upon the name of the Lord for salvation.

Everyone before Breaker that Dr. Peter S. Ruckman claims as Antiochene fathers took that to mean physical prayer.

Breaker's dad says it doesn't mean that, and he follows.

What's the traditions of men? Following what the Bible clearly says, or a false doctrine invented in 1970s Milton, Florida?

"well I looked long and hard on the internet about that and came up with this the romans road appears to have been coined by jack Hyles at least he has taken credit for coming up with this particular soul-winning method from a sermon that was preached in hammond indiana on june 28 1970 so the romans road method goes back to the 70s and maybe even 10 20 years before that based upon this quote by mr Hyles if you don't know who jack kyles is jack Hyles was a famous baptist preacher in indiana who boasted and claimed that he had the biggest baptist church in the world he hooked up with a man named anderson and started what's called the Hyles anderson college and i've met mr anderson and um he was a businessman and from what i saw uh they took a business method you know of a of a door-to-door salesman excuse me i'll talk to you today and show you this vacuum cleaner type type of mentality and and put that together with christianity and that's what i see the romans road has become is a one two three pray after me kind of a sales pitch to people and that's kind of bothered me yes there are some good verses that they give but like i said sometimes i feel like you can go way more in detail and you should than just whittling down the presentation of the gospel to just a couple of verses okay let me read what you uh what this man says jack Hyles said in his uh preaching message there remaineth yet much land to be possessed that's the title of the message jack howell said in june 28 1970 by the way you folks who don't come on wednesday night don't know this but about 20 years ago in a little east texas church i came up with a little plan of presenting the plan of salvation called the romans road so if that is true he invented the romans road the man named jack Hyles and it says and show people how to be saved using romans 3 10 romans 3 23 romans 5 12 romans 5 8 and on and on so he only mentions four verses but he had a couple more it sounds like i turned it mr Hyles continues the romans road and from the romans road i wrote the little book let's go soul winning so this roman's road plan of our method of presenting the gospel the man who takes credit for that is a man named jack Hyles now i don't have time to get into Hyles and the independent baptist movement and who they are i wish i did um" - Robert Breaker, the Romans Road, October 3rd, 2020, 3:24

"well jack Hyles claims to have been an independent baptist now after jay frank norris there were a lot of southern baptists that left the southern baptist movement and became independent baptists because they all said i see the southern baptists going into apostasy on many levels so one of them was a man named john r rice you might know some of the others hyman appleman was a famous uh preacher and and glenn schunk and peter ruckman and and people like that so the independent baptist movement began probably in the 30s and 40s around that time and many people began coming out of the southern baptists and said no we're independent baptists and that's what i am i'm an ordained independent baptist believe it or not and what i like to say is we're completely independent of man see my faith is not in a man i don't have a pope that i go to to ask permission to do things i'm independent of man but i'm completely dependent on god okay so i'm an independent baptist i'm independent of having a some national synod or or a thing like that that tells me what to do but i follow god i'm dependent on him him well this john r rice um knew this jack Hyles fella and i find it interesting i've talked to a lot of older folks in the ministry many of them are dying off that that knew the independent baptist of their day back in the 60s and 50s and 70s and all that and anytime i meet one i have lots of questions i want to ask more i want to know more about these guys because this is where the romans road came from and uh one told me that this man named john r rice a famous independent baptist preacher um someone told me that his last words before he died was i've made a monster in jack Hyles now what was he referring to what was he mean why would he say that jack Hyles was a monster what i don't know but i know around that time you start seeing the forming of this romans road method of salvation and that's when you start to see this one two three pray after me thing and what they call the hyper soul winning movement where people run around and they just use a couple of verses and that's all so i'm not gonna attack isles i'm not gonna attack his method i'm gonna present to you what it is" Robert Breaker, the Romans Road, October 3rd, 2020, 11:34

Also, I like him saying, I'm not attacking him but he's a literal monster, and he's damning souls to hell. Pick a lane, Breaker.

"so you look at that and scratch your head and go i don't think the guy got saved all you did was just show him a couple verses and then get him to make a vain religious prayer and now you claim he's saved i just i look at this method and i said this is a man-made method now do you understand why uh john r rice says i've made a monster out of Hyles because Hyles um whittled the gospel down to just a couple verses and so it makes me wonder why why would you only do these verses now" - Robert Breaker, the Romans Road, October 3rd, 2020, 25:56

"that over there looks like a bloodless gospel where's the blood in the romans road let me let me uh say this too jack Hyles claims to have started the romans road jack Hyles hardly ever preached on the blood of jesus in his ministry i've met many people that went to highest school a matter of fact in uh central america there was a uh a graduate of his and i preached for him and i preached on the blood he's like wow that's good i never heard that before i'm like you never what now and uh he gave me a book by jack Hyles that he wrote but it was published after Hyles died now figure that out how do you write a book after you're dead i don't know maybe he was writing it and he died before it was able to be published so they published after his death and the book was called something like the bride the the blood no the book the blood and the bride and i read his book i read jack kyle's book on the book the blood and the bride it almost sounded like he was confessing to have not preached hard enough on those three subjects and that he wished if he could do it over in his ministry he would have preached harder on the book the king james bible and why king james only he would have preached harder on the blood of jesus because he left it out in many ways and then he would have preached harder about the bride the church and things like that so i i look at that almost as a confession in his last days of whoops i left something out a lot in my ministry" - Robert Breaker, the Romans Road, October 3rd, 2020, 37:48

It should be noted Robert Breaker, based upon fabricated quotes, should not be trusted whether or not a person did or didn't feel sorry about not emphasizing the blood of Christ.

"and at that church (Dr. Peter S. Ruckman's) guess what happened the hyleism got into that church yeah you don't know who jack Hyles is jack Hyles is a mess yes he was a baptist preacher who was trained by john r rice and john rice said before he died i made a mess i made a monster out of pious and Hyles is the guy that started what they call the romans road now you know what there's some great verses in the book of romans but not one of them or the ones i gave you today he just goes one two three repeat after me that's the Hyles road one two three repeat this prayer" - Robert Breaker, Giving My Testimony of Salvation, September 13, 2021, 21:08

"don't i don't like to mention names but the guy's dead now so what harm will it do there was this preacher named jack Hyles and jack Hyles said repentance is the enemy of the gospel that was his famous saying as an independent baptist so you had them always fighting each other and one was one extreme no repent repent and the other no we don't preach repentance and so that led to their you know um easy prayerism one two three repeat after me type of of thing" - Robert Breaker, LIVESTREAM WITH LISA BOYCE (Watchwoman 65), May 6, 2022, 14:14

That is taking Jack Hyles out of context.

"Chapter Four

Misunderstood Repentance -

An Enemy of Soul Winning

This is the recap.

"Now let us review, as follows:

1. God says to the unsaved, 'Repent of your unbelief.'

It's very interesting that in I John the word 'repentance' is never mentioned, and yet the purpose of I John was to give people the assurance of salvation. I John 5:13, 'These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.' Of course, repentance is certainly implied throughout the entire book, because the book tells us that what saves is believing on Christ (or relying on Him) to save, which, of course, implies that that person must repent of what makes him lost, which is unbelief.

2. God says to the saved people, 'Repent of sin.' This is done by the Holy Spirit as He comes in to live to remind us to take the clothes off the bedpost, the shirt off the chair, put the shoes into the closet, etc.

3. If a person must repent of his sins to be saved, of what sins must he repent? Can he repent of all of them? Isn't that sinless perfection or holiness? Isn't that salvation by works? Of what sin must one repent? He must repent of the sin that makes him lost, and that's the sin of unbelief.

4. If turning from sins would get you saved, then turning back to sins would get you lost. In Acts 16:30 the very simple question is asked, 'What must I do to be saved?' This is the one time in the Bible where this question is asked. Now the answer to this question must be what saves a person. Acts 16:31, 'And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.' There's the answer-belief. There is nothing about repentance here, except, yes, there is something about repentance, because you can't believe without repenting from unbelief.

5. If a person has to clean up his own life before he gets saved, we are back to Arminianism or salvation by works.

6. We cannot do what the Holy Spirit can do. The Holy Spirit first convicts us of our sin of unbelief to bring us to Christ. Once He brings us to Christ, He comes in us to live. Romans 8:9, 'But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.' I Corinthians 6:19, 20, 'What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.'

Then when the Holy Spirit is in us, He begins to convict us of things in our lives that should be changed. Then the Christian life becomes a constant repenting until we wake in the likeness of Christ."

So, Breaker is taking another person out of context.

At least, it's a real quote this time!

"I just saw on TV as we're watching the news uh Reverend Franklin Graham came on there and he said if you want to get saved and then he mentioned Resurrection burial resurrection and in death burial Resurrection he even mentioned the blood of Jesus and then he says now repeat this prayer after me what if a person prays that prayer but there's no faith from from the heart right all they've done is with their mouth said something yeah and um you know as well as I do that's that's the Hyles crowd a lot of them are the one two three repeat after me and I've met good Hyles and I met not so good Hyles"

"your Calvinists yes that's one extreme so salvation now other people go the other extreme and say well you break her this is what they tell me you're just one of those you just believe that a person believes with their mind and they go to heaven so you just think if I just change my mind then I go to heaven because I chose to believe and so you're saved by just believing in your mind and you know what that's that's close to what I believe but they're twisting it they went to an extreme right and the Bible says you believe with your what heart your heart now your heart isn't the little pump that goes boom boom boom boom when the Bible talks about your heart that's your soul that's your very being that's that's who you are the world calls it your psyche or something like that yeah so we have people that go to two Extremes in our ifb crowd independent fundamental Baptists yeah one extreme is they go so hard with repentance that they go around say well you didn't quit sinning you weren't saved they have made a Works gospel and that's a problem but then you have people go to the opposite extreme and say no no repentance whatsoever now repeat after me so one two three repeat after me is their way of Salvation I just saw on TV as we're watching the news uh Reverend Franklin Graham came on there and he said if you want to get saved and then he mentioned Resurrection burial resurrection and in death burial Resurrection he even mentioned the blood of Jesus and then he says now repeat this prayer after me what if a person prays that prayer but there's no faith from from the heart right all they've done is with their mouth said something yeah and um you know as well as I do that's that's the Hyles crowd a lot of them are the one two three repeat after me and I've met good Hyles and I met not so good Hyles it's interesting just like well you would agree with this I met" - Robert Breaker, Livestream With Roy Bell, October 11, 2022, 33:47

I like two things in this. First, Breaker says that people criticize him for his soteriology just being believe and not (I'm assuming the critique) not believe and confess, and he then counters that with...

Well, I mean it is nearly, but I say you believe from your heart...

Okay? That's still believing.

Jeremiah 17:9

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

Proverbs 28:26

"He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered."

You're using the most deceitful organ, and the Bible says that's foolish to trust in your heart.

Jeremiah 17:9 is premised upon a person believing with their heart.

The second thing, I like is him watching the Graham TV altar call and being like, okay, sure he may mention the death, burial and resurrection, but what if someone doesn't believe.

Buddy! Why would a person say the prayer if they don't believe it? If you are watching a TV program in your free time, with no social pressure or anything, that is logically the greatest example of someone on their own will praying a sinner's prayer due to belief.

And it's not even a good edge case. What if someone doesn't believe?

"God, I don't think you exist and I do not believe in Christ's deity, his death or burial, or him arising on the third day, but please save me, but I don't think you exist."

Should Graham give a heads up, hey if you don't believe when you say this, you aren't saved, for all of the atheists who believe in God enough to think God would give them salvation if they pray to him, but not enough in God to be saved according to Robert Breaker?

Wow, what impeccable logic.

"Jesus is speaking of the Jews and he says they got a heart problem and their ears are dull of hearing and their eyes they have closed lest that anytime less at any time they should see with their eyes hear with their ears they come by hearing hearing by the word of God and should understand what their heart and should be converted and I should heal them converted to Salvation so before you can be saved you've got to hear something and you've got to understand and then believe yeah amen of your modern churches leave that out and I'm not going to attack Hyles because I know you went to Hyles but I'm sure you would tell me you saw that firsthand." - Robert Breaker, Livestream With Roy Bell, October 11, 2022, 53:13

Breaker is using a thing Jesus said to Jews in the Old Testament to apply to the Church age, DESPITE THE APOSTLE PAUL telling us the sequence of salvation.

Romans 10:14

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"

Diodore of Tarsus, can you explain this verse please?

"Necessarily he set forth 'those who call upon (ἐπικαλουμένους) him.' For God does not give grace indiscriminately, and to those who do not wish it, he does not supply it so much that they do not at least ask and pray to the benefactor. But lest anyone say that many do not call upon (παρακαλοῦσιν) the Lord Jesus not because of unbelief and ingratitude but because of ignorance, he shows through what follows that God also took away the excuse of their ignorance, sending evangelists and heralds exhorting and calling them to the request for the gift. Therefore he added what follows." - Diodorus of Tarsus/Diodore of Tarsus, Romans 10:11-14

John Chrysostom?

"But Isaiah the prophet, who spake many years ago, that we were to be sent, and to preach, and to say what we do say. If the being saved, then, came of calling upon Him, and calling upon Him from believing, and believing from hearing, and hearing from preaching, and preaching from being sent, and if they were sent, and did preach, and the prophet went round with them to point them out, and proclaim them, and say that these were they whom they showed of so many ages ago, whose feet even they praised because of the matter of their preaching; then it is quite clear that the not believing was their own fault only. And that because God's part had been fulfilled completely." - John Chrysostom, Romans 10:14

John Chrysostom explicitly says salvation is by calling which he says is prayer.

So, why are you going to an Old Testament passage that is not for Christians to overwrite the clear passage of Romans 10?

Isn't that very hypocritical as you say Romans 10 is for Jews, and everyone is taking it out of context?

Matthew 13 is referenced in Romans 11:25

"For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in."

"and I think a lot of well-meaning soul winners want people to get saved more than the person wants to get saved and so they'll go to a person and they'll tell them now just repeat after me one two three repeat after me and is that Bible where did that one two three repeat after me stuff come from well there was a man named Bill bright who wrote four spiritual laws a little tract and around that time Billy Graham picked that up and around that time came out the big preacher Jack Hyles and Jack Hyles they say came up with the Romans road and it's basically four verses now it's like three and the last one is Romans 10 13. and there's nothing wrong with Romans 10 13 but don't ever take it out of context and that's what they do and so they say now whosoever should call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved and they say call means ask so just say oh God save me and if you say that with your mouth then you're saved" - Robert Breaker, Livestream With Brandon Bernardi July 2023, 50:23

"um this was a famous Baptist preacher named John R rice and he wasn't King James only and he had some places where he was messed up by the way there's a famous Independent Baptist so I'm an ordained Independent Baptist and there was a famous one up in Chicago called Jack Hyles you've probably heard of him maybe you haven't he claims he had the biggest church in America but uh this guy John R Rice trained jack Hyles and it said that when John Rice died he said his last words were I've made a monster out of Hil because Hil is one of those that that started the one two three repeat after me method of Soul winning" - Robert Breaker, Livestream About Trusting the Blood Uptime Community Church, 59:10

"that's that's sad and it's even sadder among the independent Baptists which we probably all are and I was an independent Baptist and you mentioned Hyles and things like that well it really started way back with Billy Graham and the four spiritual laws and they just repeat this after me" - Robert Breaker, Interview with Dan Sydnor, January 23, 2024, 24:16

"I don't know how to say it any more simpler than that many people today are following a big independent fundamental Baptist movement that started up around Chicago and there was a man that came in he told everybody hey you want to get saved just repeat this prayer after me and he started the one two three repeat after me method of Soul winning I could tell you the man's name you may know who he is you may not I I don't want you to be angry but let me tell you his name was Jack Hyles and so Jack Hyles became a Ultra hyper Soul winner and he Whitted the gospel down to three or four verses and then he went to Romans 10:13 and he says now repeat after me and that has led to the one 123 repeat after me method of of Soulwinning" - Robert Breaker, What it Means to Believe in the Blood, 37:40

"there was a man named John r Rice and John R rice was a very very famous Independent Baptist preacher and he trained this Jack fella and it is said I don't know this is hearsay but it is said that when John R rice died his before he died close to his final words was I've made a monster with Hyles because Hyles turned it into a business of just one two three repeat after me and because of that there are many people today who think that you're saved by repeating a prayer no you're saved by repenting change of mind from unrighteousness to righteousness from from unbelief to belief from trusting in yourself to trusting in the finished work of Christ" - Robert Breaker, What it Means to Believe in the Blood, 38:56

Aside from his sloppy explanation of his equivalent of the ABCs, it should be noted that Jack Hyles literally taught this, except he believed in the John R. Rice position of prayer as a vehicle for salvation.

"You won't find one place in the Bible that says you've got to pray to be saved. You can kneel at this old-fashioned mourner's bench tonight and you can pray all night long, but you don't get saved because you pray. Now, you may have prayed when you received Christ, but you got saved by receiving Christ. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. That's why they didn't get saved. But to as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to those that believe on his name. You receive his gift, and then he comes in. But he does not come in because you ask him to come in, he comes in because you receive him as your Savior." - Dr. Jack Hyles on Sinners' Prayer for Salvation, 0:25

Robert Breaker then after my section quotes John R. Rice out of context, like he did the first time, but remember Rice's view is literally Hyles's view and Hyles to Breaker is the devil in his restorationist theology.

"Restorationism, also known as Christian primitivism, is a religious perspective holding that the early beliefs and practices of the followers of Jesus were either lost or adulterated after the deaths of his apostles, and therefore require restoration." - Wikipedia

The early beliefs and practices of the followers of Jesus (his soteriology on the blood) were adulterated by Jack Hyles, and now needs restoration.

Breaker teaches everyone once had the truth (his soteriology on the blood) and then Hyles came along and corrupted it.

"here's a famous guy, Jack Hyles. Do you know he used to preach it at one time? >> Toward the end, he preached something very different. But here's Jack Hyles in 1989. No one gets saved by turning over a new leaf. No one gets saved by going to church. No one gets saved by confessing sins. The only way to get saved is by trusting the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Romans 3:25, through faith in his blood. That's where salvation is found. >> Wow. He says further, a person must place their faith not in themselves, not in the church, not in turning over a new leaf, but in the blood of Jesus. It must be faith in the blood. How could he say that? And now they practice something completely different. I'm skipping them over. Why? Why am I skipping over? Because I just don't have time. But here, there are people out" - Robert Breaker, The Battle Over Faith in the Blood of Jesus, September 8, 2025, 1:01:42

I cannot find this quote.

Notice, he's doing the reverse of the young and old Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, which was debunked and shown to be false. So, it's not looking good for old Jack Hyles preaching the Milton Gospel.

The next usage is the video this is about where Breaker says THE APOCRYPHAL QUOTE.

Breaker has spent YEARS criticizing and hating Jack Hyles, but Jack Hyles suddenly stops being the literal devil who corrupted the pure church in his restorationist theology?

I believe there were always a line of Bible Believers, Diodorus of Tarsus, John Chrysostom, AND THAT they were never lost, and needed a Robert Breaker to restore the truth.

"What did you Ruckman used to preach is the question number eight here. Ruckman used to preach real hard on you have to put your faith in the atoning work of Christ, the blood of Jesus. But he started to go back and forth as he got older. Now you just ask God to save you. No, you trust the blood. No, you ask God to save you. No, you trust. And a lot of that came from the Hyles crowd and from the Independent Baptist and the Southern Baptist and the Southern Baptist gospel of just ask Jesus into your heart and things like that. things that I have written documented evidence where Ruckman used to preach against asking Jesus in your heart or asking God to save you. Now he's saying the same terms that the TBN crowd says. And I think part of that was getting on to TV. He felt like he had to say it like the TV preacher said it. No, you don't. Just say it the way the Bible says. Trust the blood atonement of Christ. It's the atoning work of Christ that saves you. That's what's been preached since the beginning. Let's just say that. So that's what he used to preach. Why did he change? Well, I remember he used to be very against Dr. Jack Hyles, but then he had a couple guys come into his church from Hyles. One of them was a really tall guy that could sing really good. Another one was a guy that wrote many books. And as that opened the door to the one, two, three, repeat after me crowd, then they begin to pour into the church. And that's when I saw a lot of things begin to change. So," - Robert Breaker, What About Peter Ruckman? Walkin and Talkin with Robert Breaker #peterruckman #ruckmanite #ruckman, 41:47 February 11, 2026

FYI: This is false. Dr. Peter S. Ruckman from the 1950s to 1995, when Robert Breaker went to PBI, taught the sinner's prayer.

"we're talking about the Romans road today. What is the Romans road? Well, there was a famous preacher named Jack Hyles and he had a church up in uh Illinois or Indiana um Gary area actually I went there and he started what they call the Romans road and he said hey when you try to win somebody to the Lord here just go to the book of Romans and go down these verses it's like a road of verses that you go through to try to win somebody to the Lord and that has become very famous many churches follow the Romans road way of soulwinning many tracks say hey go to the Romans road it's the Romans road it's the Romans Road and it's something that's been taught for many years. What exactly is the Romans Road? Well, I went to the computer and I said, 'Hey, what is the Romans Road?' And it typed this up. And so I looked it up and I said, 'Well, this is it. This is what I've been hearing. This is what I've been seeing.' And the Romans Road is usually about four verses and that's it." - Robert Breaker, The Better "Roman's Road" #salvation #romansroad #howtobesaved #gospel #faith #planofsalvation #god February 12, 2026

"met pastors that went to these different Bible schools. Uh Jack, oh here we go. Hyles Anderson is another big Bible institute or Bible school. And it's just it's weird to me. Why would you name it after a person? It kind of sounds better to name it after a place." - Robert Breaker, King James Bible Institute Walkin' and A-Talkin, March 10, 2026, 18:38

"And so that's why um a lot of these colleges are more of a business now because of a big businessman like Hyles Anderson. You know who Anderson was? He was a businessman. Helped Hyles start. Hyles Anderson" - Robert Breaker, King James Bible Institute Walkin' and A-Talkin, March 10, 2026, 58:10

">> Okay? So, I went to Ruckman school. My dad went to Ruckman school. We heard Ruckman preaching it, right? Faith in the blood. And then we hear him start to change because Hylesism and all this other stuff started to come into that church. And we hear him say it right sometimes and different other times. After I left, I hear him saying it wrong even more and more. So you have two Ruckmans. You have young Ruckman who preached correctly the way we still preach. And you have older Ruckman who began to change what he used to preach." - Robert Breaker, Livestream with Robert Potthoff 3/24/2026, 1:48:34

This is false. Dr. Peter S. Ruckman preached the sinner's prayer from the 1950s to his death!

Robert Breaker came on the scene in 1995! Tell me how he noticed Dr. Peter S. Ruckman changing when Breaker wasn't there when HE STARTED PREACHING THE SINNER'S PRAYER IN THE 1950S!

"And then because of Jack Hyles, because of Joel Osteen, because of Billy Graham beginning to change and saying, 'Well, just come to God now the best way you know how and repeat this prayer after me.' People begin to think the prayer saved you. And they begin to think it's what you say with your mouth saves you. They became part of the mandatory vocalization cult." - Robert Breaker, Livestream with Robert Potthoff 3/24/2026 2:13:53

I can't believe Jack Hyles time traveled with Joel Osteen and Billy Graham to convince Diodorus of Tarsus and John Chrysostom that praying was a condition for salvation.

"Because the Romans road they use nowadays is very short. And they ask, 'Do you know which pastor personally wrote the Romans Road?' Yeah, that was Jack Hyles, a Baptist pastor. He put the Romans Road together around 1948 in an East Texas church, stringing together those specific verses from Romans to make a simple step-by-step gospel presentation for soul-winning. He even wrote a little book called Let's Go Soulwinning. It caught on big in evangelical circles. And then the person writes, 'Interesting.' Grok continues, 'Yeah, it's wild how one pastor's simple tool became the go-to gospel script for decades. Hyles's version made the whole thing feel like a clear, logical path straight from the Bible. Easy to remember, perfect for knocking on doors. And if you know the people that follow him, they're door knockers. Now me, but the one thing is it does not have faith in the blood that the Bible talks about. Now when I say me, this is this person asking Grok this. So he says it doesn't say faith in the blood. And the Bible says through faith in his blood, the atoning work of Christ. That's what the Hylesians left out. Why did they not preach about trusting in the atonement? Grok, you're right. The classic Romans road skips Romans 3:25 entirely. It jumps from all have sinned straight to Christ died for our sins, but never hits the phrase propitiation through faith in his blood. That's where the Bible explicitly ties faith to the blood. A lot of folks noticed that gap and put out a better Romans road that adds the blood verse back in. Now, it's now Grok says a lot of folks, not really a lot of folks. I don't find them. Maybe they're out there, but I haven't found them. Now watch what what Glock does. Grok does. Hyles himself preached strongly on the blood elsewhere, but his simple soul-winning tool left it out. Okay. My viewer says to Grok," - Robert Breaker, AI or ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE Walkin and A-Talking with Robert Breaker #ai #artificialintelligence, June 2, 2026, 17:24

Robert Breaker is describing a chat between a viewer and Grok, may I put to memory.

"In the field of artificial intelligence, sycophancy is a tendency of large language models (LLMs) and other AI assistants to tailor their responses to what they predict the user wants to hear rather than to what is accurate or warranted." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sycophancy_(artificial_intelligence)

Romans 3:25 says faith in the blood, as the blood is connected to the death. Colossians 1:20 "And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven."

It says faith in his blood, for the same reason Romans 10:9 says you're saved by believing in the resurrection and confessing.

Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

1 Corinthians 15:3-4: "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; AND that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

The gospel is the Lord Jesus's death, burial and resurrection.

If Jesus died, he had to be buried and resurrected.

If Jesus resurrected, he had to die and be buried.

Either part contains the whole.

So, faith in his blood means faith in the gospel, and believing God raised him from the dead means faith in the gospel also, as he had to die and resurrect.

I am not saying that Ellicott agreed with me, but that this view was not invented by Tyler.

"Hath raised him from the dead.—Comp. Romans 4:25. Though the death of Christ apprehended by faith is more especially the cause of the Christian's salvation, still the Apostle regards the Resurrection as the cardinal point; for without the Resurrection the proof of the Messiahship of Jesus would have been incomplete, and His death would not have had its saving efficacy." - Charles Ellicott

I came up with this through prayer and study, but it's nice to know other people have invented this, which cannot be said towards the traditions of men invented Robert Breaker's Milton gospel.

And finally, the last Hyles reference, the one I can find at least.

"This is a guy named Jack Hyles. Many people know, oh, Jack Hyles, why he's a famous preacher that's an independent Baptist. Yeah. Yeah. Look what he says. I'm going to be the high priest. And he's talking about Jesus Christ. All I want to talk about tonight is the blood. The high priest took that blood in the basin once a year in the day of atonement and walked inside and sprinkled that blood seven times on the mercy seat. Jesus was the lamb who died, but he also was the high priest. This is why Jesus must have been raised from the dead. Do you see? As our sacrifice, he died. But good night, there's our high priest on the altar. He's dead. Well, how could he get the blood into the Holy of Holies if he just died? If it's just his death. Only the high priest can go inside the Holy of Holies. We've got to get him up. So after three nights and three days, he arose from the dead. He who was our lamb. He died on the cross. He arose. Why? Because he had to be our high priest, too. Now you listen to me. I'm reading his words. Jesus as the sacrifice is not the total savior. It's not just his death that saves you. Unless Jesus is at the right hand of the father pleading our case tonight as our high priest, we're still not saved. There are three parts of the gospel. First is the what? The death. Then the burial. Was the resurrection necessary? Yes. Because the high priest Jesus had to be raised from the dead so he could become our high priest and take the blood into the holy of holies." - Robert Breaker, Faith in the Blood is Faith in the Atoning Work of Jesus! #faithintheblood #atonement #bloodofjesus, 42:32 June 11, 2026

Robert Breaker does say that his views on Jack Hyles differ with this quote, as he only says the death, burial and resurrection, and Breaker has a 7 point thing going on.

A brief interjection, we have two verses in Romans that tells us we have to believe something to be saved. Romans 3:25 and Romans 10:9. One's about the death, the other is about the resurrection. For Jesus to die, he had to be buried and resurrected, or he isn't God, and for him to resurrect,

1 Corinthians 15:14 "And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain."

he had to have died, and be buried.

We can know there are three points in the gospel, as the first Pauline Epistle only gives us three points of the Gospel.

That is actually from Why the Blood Saves by Jack Hyles

https://www.jackhyleslibrary.com/jack-hyles-sermon-blood-saves-2/

"I'm going to be the high priest-not Jesus now-I'm going be the Old Testament high priest. I haven't got time to go into how he changed his garments, etc. I haven't got time for that. All I want to talk about tonight is the blood. The high priest took that blood in the basin once a year on the day of atonement and walked inside and sprinkled that blood seven times on the mercy seat. Jesus was the Lamb Who died, but He also was the High Priest. This is why Jesus must have been raised from the dead. See? As our sacrifice He died, but good night, there's our High Priest on the altar. He's dead! Well, how can we get the blood into the holy of holies? Only the high priest can go inside the holy of holies. We've got to get Him up. So after three days and three nights, He arose from the dead! He – Who was our Lamb, Who died on cross – rose! Why? Because He had to be our High Priest too.

Now, you listen to me. Jesus as the sacrifice is not the total Saviour. Unless Jesus is at the right hand of the Father pleading our case tonight as our high priest, we're still not saved. There are three parts to the Gospel. First is the what? Death. Then the…? Burial. Why was the resurrection necessary? Because the high priest, Jesus, had to be raised from the dead so He could become our high priest and take the blood into the holy of holies."

"If the death was all it was, Christ is not our passover because the blood was not applied. If the death of Jesus was all it took to save us, He's not our atonement because the blood is not at the mercy seat in Heaven. If the death was all it took to save us, we didn't need to drink the juice last Sunday morning; we could have taken just the bread. However, it takes more than the bread; it takes the juice because it takes more than the broken body. It takes the shed blood, but not only the shed blood, but the applied blood of Christ. By the way, when I win a soul to Christ, I always mention the resurrection. I always do. I always tell the person, 'Jesus Christ paid your penalty for sin, and after 72 hours, He rose again for your justification.' Why did He rise? He rose because He had to take His blood to the presence of our God. He as our High Priest is constantly reminding God the Father."

The entire reason I did Dr. Ruckman preaching the sinner's prayers compilation from the 1950s to the 2000s was based on the lie that Dr. Ruckman changed and followed the 1-2-3 repeat after me Hylesism.

Do I have to specify why it is ABSURD for ROBERT BREAKER to quote Jack Hyles?

To quote Robert Breaker, and this is fully debunked.

"Donny boy, what's this all about, huh? I'm still waiting for you to call me. My phone number is on my website. Would love to talk to you on the phone about all this. I went to Ruckman's school and graduated there in 1998. I learned a lot. My Dad went there as well (in the late 70's and early 80's, but didn't graduate. He already had a degree, so he just audited classes). How about you? When did you graduate from PBI?

The truth is that young Ruckman was way better than older Ruckman. A lot of our friends went there in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, and they'll tell you the exact same thing. But something changed. I see the problem was that he allowed 'Hylesism' to get into that place and the '1,2,3 repeat after me' false gospel, which he USED TO PREACH AGAINST in the old days. What sad. Then there was the change on 'the tribulation.' Ruckman always taught a 7 year tribulation, but then they changed to only teaching a 3 1/2 year trib. That caused the church split. How sad. Many who left were greatly saddened to see the change in teaching of doctrine. Which are you? Young Ruckman and 7 years or Old Ruckman and only 3 1/2 year tribulation???" - Robertbreaker3, youtube.com/watch?v=mhWhPlLzw0k&lc=Ugw-mx35ftojuEjLrN54AaABAg

3. Curtis Hutson

Breaker: "No one is saved by praying a prayer. People are saved by trusting Jesus Christ. The prayer does not save you."

This is another apocryphal quote. The only source is Robert Breaker.

Now, we have Curtis's actual opinion on the Sinner's Prayer and it's much like Rice's.

Watch this video. Curtis Hutson On the Sinner's Prayer

TEXT: FYI THIS IS ONLY A SNIPPET.

"hands with me and when he puts his hand over in yours then lead him in a simple prayer expressing his faith in Christ now prayer does not save you prayer does not save you prayer does not save you you're saved by Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ one can trust Christ in his automobile or at home or at his office but the prayer is a verbal expression of your Faith you're simply saying Lord I know that you died for me and I do trust you as my savior now another thing I did is that is at the close of this particular" - Curtis Hutson On the Sinner's Prayer, 1:06 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3oqy7TeGQE

If you think that sounds like Breaker, please go back to the introduction.

4. J. Frank Norris

Breaker: "You are not saved by saying words. You're saved by trusting Christ."

Another apocryphal quote. The only source is Breaker.

"Look and live! Behold and live! Believe, saved! That's exactly what happened as the first trophy of the bloody cross, when Jesus' Spirit went back through the gates of Paradise – Jesus didn't take a crowned head from the thrones of the world; He didn't take a multi-millionaire; He didn't take any prince; He took a nameless, penniless thief. What did he do? One cursed and reviled, the other one turned his face in that dying hour and said, 'Lord! Lord!' and Jesus looked at him and said to him: 'This day shalt thou be with me in Paradise,' and Jesus took before the wondering angels, and archangels, and cherubims and seraphims, and all the hosts of heaven, the first blood-bought, sin-forgiven soul of the redeeming power of the cross. When He heard the cry, 'Lord remember me,'

'As on the cross the Saviour hung,

And pour'd salvation on a wretch

He pour'd salvation on a wretch

That languished by His side.

His crime, with inward grief and shame,

The penitent confess'd;

Then turn'd his dying eyes to Christ,

And thus his prayer address'd;

Jesus, thou Son and heir of heaven!

Thou spotless Lamb of God!

I see thee bath'd in sweat and tears,

And weltering in thy blood.

Yet quickly, from these scenes of woe,

In triumph thou shalt rise,

Burst through the gloomy shades of death,

And shine above the skies.

Amid the glories of that world,

Dear Saviour think on me,

And in the victories of thy death,

Let me a sharer be.'

His prayer the dying Jesus hears,

And instantly replies

Today thy parting soul shall be

With me in Paradise.'" - J. Frank Norris, The New Birth, 1933

Robert Breaker has been on record criticizing the thief on the cross.

"So what does this guy say? He says these words 'Remember me.' Is that how we're saved today? Do we just go to God and go 'God remember me, remember me'? Is that salvation?"

"He was sitting there looking at the blood of Jesus and he doesn't say 'Lord I trust your blood for the forgiveness of my sins.' He doesn't do that. Instead he says 'Hey I want you to let me into your kingdom.'"

"What a lousy type of salvation if someone tries to take you to the thief on the Old Testament."

"I don't see how that makes a good type of salvation today… where's the message of trusting in the blood? Where's the message of I give you forgiveness through my blood? It's still Old Testament."

All of those from his aptly named video, The Thief on the Cross Makes a Lousy Example of our Salvation Today!

It is unorthodox in Christianity to make fun of the thief on the cross.

Not even the most depraved cult thinks to mock the thief on the cross.

5. Tom Malone / Dr. Thomas Lloyd (Tom) Malone

"We are not saved by a prayer. We are saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ."

Apocrypha.

The only source is from Breaker.

No one believes we are saved by a prayer. To quote Lester Roloff, "Prayer doesn't save you, but if you've never prayed, you've never been saved."

"Isn't that the same thing?"

No, think about faith. Faith doesn't save you, God saves you but you're saved through faith. What saves you is the death, burial and resurrection (1 Cor 15:3-4) but the question is how you receive that.

To quote Brother Don Nesbitt, you have to pick up the phone.

He has an entire sermon on this, "People Who Ask To Be Saved" Dr. Tom Malone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRljnUImS2Q

I will let you draw your own conclusion.

The entire sermon is premised upon people asking for salvation, and he does endorse it though.

6. Lee Roberson

Breaker: "A prayer never saved anybody. Christ saves. It is not the prayer. It is the savior."

Huh weird, only source is Breaker. More apocrypha.

7. Leonard Ravenhill

Breaker: "The sinner's prayer has sent more people to hell than all the bars in America."

This is an apocryphal quote, however this marks the first quote that is apocrypha but has been quoted by other people.

There is a nearly mirror of it, which is Paul Washer

"The sinner's prayer has sent more people to hell than anything on the face of the earth!"

Paul Washer describes himself as a New Calvinist. Seriously, he's a Calvinist, that is why he's saying that.

Ravenhill wasn't exactly the biggest fan of the sinner's prayer on account of being a Lordship salvationist, he did critique it in other sermons however why are we quoting Ravenhill, who is a Lordship salvationist, on a quote that isn't even a real quote from Ravenhill, a Lordship salvationist?

"Until Jesus is glorified, till he knows he has full control of your life, your spirit, your soul, your body, your mind, your will, he won't come and take up his abode." - Are We Longing for Repentance

That is the definition of Lordship salvation.

From The Light of the World

"I'm terribly disturbed about this business of folk getting saved. They walk up to the front and they say a prayer and in five minutes they've gone. No birth ever takes place like that.

I can't believe a person with 10 years of guilt never mind 20 or 30 and a conscience that's tearing them up just goes up to the front and says something and sheds a few. Somebody said recently a lot of people came forward in church Sunday a lot of them were broken they cried. How do you know they were broken? Doesn't mean because they weep they're broken they may have hearts as hard as stone.

They were emotionally disturbed. There's no birth that's easy and if people are going to be born again in the spirit of God at the time of wrestling sometimes they're broken with their unworthiness. Remember the man that wrote this fabulous thing I think it's one of the greatest that Charles Wesley wrote and he wrote over three thousand and can it be that I should gain? He's a scholar he's a man of impeccable morality he's one of the richest most powerful men in the nation in the church and yet one day he says one day my chains fell off."

If he's right, Dr. Ruckman wasn't saved. Watch my Dr. Ruckman vs Robert Breaker: Was Dr. Ruckman saved, you will find that Dr. Ruckman has that testimony.

"I'm not asking you tonight did you one night kneel down and make confession and after that your life was no change your lifestyle was no different your appetite you're no different your prayer life was no different come on... you're dead because you have no living relationship with God." (Are We Longing for Repentance)

Dr. Ruckman kept cursing for a year plus meaning according to Leonard Ravenhill, that was not an actual true salvation as he did not change, and he is burning in hell.

Wow, what a great person to quote, Breaker.

Why is Robert Breaker quoting a Lordship salvationist? That isn't even a real quote.

Breaker also denounces lordship salvation later in the article.

8. H.A. Ironside

"It is not repeating a prayer that saves the soul. Men are not saved by saying prayers but by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ."

Can't be found. H.A. Ironside did not say this.

"People are not saved by repeating forms of prayer or formal prayers like the sinner's prayer."

He didn't say this either.

So, both of these quotes are fake.

The fake quotes aren't even needed though, as H.A. Ironside did hold that prayer wasn't a condition, contrary to what Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, Lester Roloff, Diodorus of Tarsus and John Chrysostom preached.

Of course, he didn't hold to BREAKER'S THEOLOGY THAT the blood of Jesus Christ is our object of faith.

"Now the righteousness which is of faith depends upon testimony that God has given. Again the apostle quotes from Moses, who, in Deuteronomy 12:13-14, presses upon the people the fact that God has given testimony which man is responsible to believe. The testimony there, of course, was the revelation from Sinai. But the apostle takes up Moses' words, and in a wonderful way under the guidance of the Spirit, applies them to Christ. 'Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)' Christ has already come down. He has died. God has raised Him from the dead. And upon this depends the entire gospel testimony.

Therefore he goes on to say, 'The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.' The gospel has been proclaimed; they have heard it; they are familiar with its terms. The question is: Do they believe it and confess the Christ it proclaims as their Lord? For in verses Romans 10:9-10 he epitomises the whole matter in words that have been used of God through the centuries to bring assurance to thousands of precious souls, 'That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus' (or literally, Jesus as Lord), 'and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.' The heart is simply another term for the real man. The apostle is not trying to draw a fine distinction, as some preachers do, between believing with the head and believing with the heart. He does not occupy us with the nature of belief; he does occupy us with the object of faith. We believe the message that God has given concerning Christ. If we believe at all, we believe with the heart. Otherwise we do not really trust. 'With the heart' man believeth. The confession here is not, of course, necessarily the same thing as where our Lord says, 'Whosoever shall confess Me before men, him will I confess before My Father which is in heaven.' This is rather the soul's confession to God Himself that he takes Jesus as Lord.

He then cites another Old Testament scripture from the book of the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 28:16), which declares that 'Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.' In this way he proves that the universality of the present gospel faith is in no wise in conflict with the revealed word of God as given to the Jew of old. 'Whosoever' includes the whole world. Already he has established the fact in Chapter 3 that there is no difference between Jew and Gentile, so far as sin is concerned. Now he gives the other side of the 'no difference' doctrine. 'The same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.' To call upon the name of the Lord is, of course, to invoke His name in faith. His name speaks of what He is. He who calls upon the name of the Lord puts his trust in Him, as it is written, 'The name of the Lord is a strong tower, and the righteous runneth into it and is safe.'" - Henry Allan Ironside, https://www.studylight.org/commentaries/eng/isn/romans-10.html#:~:text=Preferences-,Ironside%27s%20Notes%20on%20Selected%20Books,-Romans%2010

To summarize, Henry Allen Ironside believes the calling is an automatic response to believing. Basically, you believe and your heart internally calls. However, his views on what to believe for salvation is the entire gospel, not specifically the blood of Jesus Christ, even if Robert Breaker would say that is the gospel.

If Robert Breaker ever recites that Romans commentary, you may know it was from me looking it up as he is not a particularly good researcher.

9. D.L. Moody

"I never tell a man he is saved because he has prayed. I tell him he is saved because he has trusted Christ."

Another fake quote by Robert Breaker.

Let's look at Moody's Anecdotes And Illustrations

Related in his Revival Work by the Great Evangelist

"-- Believing and confessing go together; and you cannot be saved without you take them both. 'With the mouth confession is made unto salvation.' If you ever see the kingdom of heaven you have to take this way." - D.L. Moody

10. R.A. Torrey

"Men are not saved by praying but by believing."

This is another fake quote.

There is a similar sounding allegedly real quote but Robert Breaker's quote is fake.

"We are not saved by denying self, or taking up our cross, or doing anything else, we are saved by simply believing in Jesus." - R.A. Torrey, Did I Miss God's Will for My Life

I can only find one source for the "real" quote.

https://www.thespiritlife.net/83-warfare/warfare-reflection/1355-did-i-miss-gods-will-for-my-life-by-ra-torrey

Robert Breaker's quote however is fake.

Let's look at his stance on Romans 10.

"7. Faith on the Lord Jesus Christ will show itself again in following Him wherever He leads.—If I put confidence in Jesus Christ as the Light of the World, I will follow Him that I may 'not walk in darkness, but have the Light of Life.' 'He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself so to walk even as he walked.' Are you following in His steps, in your business, in your social life, in your personal life, in your individual life everywhere?

8. Belief on the Lord Jesus Christ will show itself in confessing Him before the world, and in witnessing for Him to men.—We read in Romans x. 9, 10: 'If thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.'

I received a letter to-day from a man who said it was a very hard thing to expect people to stand up to confess Christ in the way I ask them to, and he went on to tell me an easier way to get at it. But I am not looking for an easier way. I abominate these easy ways. I believe in getting people converted. I could pass around cards and get them to sign their names, saying that they hoped to go to heaven; but a month after I had gone the effect would be nothing, or worse than nothing. I do not take any stock in any faith that does not lead to an open confession of Christ before the world, and I do not take any stock in the Christianity of your professed Christians unless it leads you to go out into the world and witness for the One who saved you. 'Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.'"

He views Romans 10 to be a profession, not a confession.

Not to be outdone, he still doesn't agree with Robert Breaker on salvation.

"So, to sum it all up, to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ is to put confidence in Him as your Sin-bearer, as your Deliverer from the power of sin, as your divinely taught and absolutely infallible Teacher, as your Master, who has the right to the entire control of your life, as your Light and Guide whom you will follow wherever He leads, and as your divine Lord. The moment you thus put your confidence, your absolute confidence in Jesus Christ, that moment you are saved. 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.'"
