The devil knows scripture: Scripture taken out of context
Good day beautiful people,
I hope that this post meets you and your loved ones well? Today’s post is going to be brief and to the point. And it is my prayer that you are able to take something away from what you read.
As per usual I’d like to highlight the importance of knowing God for yourself (please don’t get tired of me saying this). A way in which we can discover God is through His word. The Bible encourages us to study ourselves approved and to test every spirit, this is for our own benefit and will help shield us from being led astray by false prophets and their false doctrines.
2 Timothy 2:15~ “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.”
1 John 4:1 ~ “Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.”
When reading through the temptation of Jesus in the book of Luke chapter 4 (Luke 4: 1-13) it is clear to see that even Satan himself knows scripture, but the thing with satan is that he took scripture out of context. As Christian’s we should be very careful with where we choose to fellowship. This is because a leader who is incapable of accurately dividing the word of God can destroy lives. Yes, even more-so than a preacher that doesn’t add a scripture to their sermon (to be honest both scenarios are bad for a believers spiritual health). Incorrect theology is extremely dangerous, please let us all continue to seek God and ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom to give us understanding when reading the Bible.
A lot of the time people twist scripture to manipulate others, so beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing. Satan came at Jesus with the word of God out of context, so let us be very mindful and make every effort to delve deeper into the Bible.
2 Peter 2:1-3 ~ “But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves. Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered. In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.”
