The Living City with the Living Temple

Revelation 21:22b says, “Its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.” This reveals that the temple is not material or physical. On the contrary, the temple is a personal temple, even the Triune God Himself….The temple is a person, and this person is the Triune God, the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. Our God today is the Redeemer as well as the Triune God.*

New JerusalemNew Jerusalem is a living city and its temple is the living Triune God. The Old Testament is filled with physical shadows (Heb. 8:5), examples of the New Testament reality.

In the New Testament Jesus Christ came, died to redeem and to release the divine life (John 19:34), and resurrected to impart this life into all His believers (1 Peter 1:3). Now He is in us and we are in Him. This is “of God” (1 Cor. 1:30).

“In Christ” we are “a new creation” (2 Cor. 5:17) and He is our real place of service and worship. This spiritual reality is expanding to the fullness of New Jerusalem presented in Revelation 21-22.

        Sometimes Healing Takes Time

I like instant. I like brewed coffee in a minute or less. I like microwaved leftovers in 45 seconds or less. I like instant text, instant on-line shopping, and instant movies at the click of a button. I’m not a fan of process but would rather have immediate results. One of my favorite words in the New Testament is “immediately.” “Immediately they received their sight” (Matthew 20:34). Read more...
