Why do we need to renew ourselves everyday? - Raising Zion

renew ourselves

Renewing yourself means, to start again. Not living on yesterday’s experience, but expecting a new and fresh experience.

Naturally, as humans, we crave for something new everyday. Our curiosity, when nurtured often leads us to sometimes refreshing experiences or ones we need to avoid in the future.

Eve followed her curiosity into disobedience, that led to sin. Which introduced her to a world of fear, shame, and despair. Believers put their faith in Christ and renew themselves daily. It leads us into peace, joy and life everlasting.

3 reasons why we need to renew ourselves daily

Jesus said, there is enough evil each day. Distracting Words and Visuals, Physical and material loss; all kinds of evil attack us. (Matthew 6:34) (Psalms 13:2) (Judges 16:16)

How long must I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart day after day? How long will my enemy exalt himself and triumph over me?

Psalms 13:2

Lust of the flesh – the flesh fights the spirit daily. It took only moments for David to commit sin.

For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the [desire of the] Spirit opposes the [h]sinful nature; for these [two, the sinful nature and the Spirit] are in direct opposition to each other [continually in conflict], so that you [as believers] do not [always] do whatever [good things] you want to do.

Galatians 5:17

That we are not deceived, hardening our hearts. We need to exhort one another.

But continually encourage one another every day, as long as it is called “Today” [and there is an opportunity], so that none of you will be hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [its cleverness, delusive glamour, and sophistication].

Hebrews 3:13

This is the day the lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it – let this vision of the psalmist manifest in our lives daily. Till we meet Jesus in the air.

Maranatha, Praise God and Amen.
