WISDOM WEDNESDAYS: Simmons University DV Training Course - The DV Walking Wounded:

NOTE: I wanted to start giving my readers resources for domestic violence courses, as many have asked. I know once I got out of my abusive relationship, I wanted to read everything I could get my hands on, as well as learn as much as I could, so I could figure out why I endured it so long and why it was so destructive. Then, I decided to put this information to use by helping others understand it too and get out of their abusive relationships.

I came across this Simmons University Continuing Education Course (CEU) out of their College of Social Work. Simmons University is located in Boston, MA and is an accredited university.

This course can be completed online. First there is a Introduction Unit, featuring an Introduction Quiz. Here is the rest of the outline for the course:

    • Unit 1: Definitions and Prevalence of Domestic Violence (Quiz at End of Unit)
    • Unit 2: Working With Survivors (Quiz at End of Unit)
    • Unit 3: Children and Domestic Violence (Quiz at End of Unit)
    • Unit 4: Working with People Who Use Violence and Coercive Behaviors Against Partners (Quiz at End of Unit)
    • Unit 5: Overview of the Legal System in Domestic Violence Cases (Quiz at End of Unit)
    • Unit 6: Overview of the Legal System in Domestic Violence Cases (Quiz at End of Unit)
    • CEU Quiz: Must score 80 percent correct or better to be awarded CEU

Following successful completion of the quiz, you will have the option to make an on-line payment of the CEU fee.

The fee is $150.00. A Simmons School of Social work CEU certificate of completion will be sent to you by mail. This is optional, but there will be no virtual certificate available. You can utilize this course for information or “auditing” purposes only.

This CEU certificate will represent 10 CEUs, if you opt for this certificate.
