Words to Believe

Men have discussed the meaning of life and death and whether there is a God since the beginning of time. From the moment you were born, you had voices telling you what they thought was best for you. Good intentions are not always in your best interest. Even those that love you the most can steer you in the wrong direction.

With eternity in mind, Jesus said to His friends, “Do not let your hearts be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in Me.” He told them that heaven is a real place and He was going there to prepare a place just for them so that they could be with Him forever. He finished saying “I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

I imagine these words must have been difficult to believe the cruel night they watched Him dying on the cross. Was it just another voice with good intentions? When they saw Him alive three days later, they knew they could trust His words and they went on doing great works for God the rest of their lives.

How about you? What voices are you listening to? Jesus said He would send The Spirit to teach and remind us of everything that He said. Do you hear His voice? “Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”

“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
1 Timothy 4:16
