You accomplished everything, yet why are you feeling lost?

Psalm 25:4-5:

"Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."

Proverbs 3:5-6:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."

You find yourself at a crossroads, having recently completed college or started a new job. Despite these achievements, a deep sense of despair has settled within you. Feelings of failure cast a shadow over your path, and you are grappling with the complexities of life with a heavy heart. The road ahead appears uncertain, and the weight of anxiety and depression turns each step into a challenging ascent.

In your search for solace, you turn to the Lord, seeking guidance and strength. However, the internal struggle persists. It is as if your entire life has led to this critical moment, yet the realization falls short of fulfillment. The sense of purpose eludes you, leaving you in confusion.

As you grapple with these emotions, remember that it is okay to feel lost, and it is okay to seek help.

But try to take each day as it comes.

Now, this might seem like a straightforward idea, but you know it is tough in reality. The challenges you face make it harder than the simplicity of the saying suggests. It is not just a matter of saying, "I will take today as it comes." Life throws curveballs your way, and sometimes it feels like catching your breath is a luxury.

You might find yourself stuck in a cycle of responsibilities, each day blending into the next without a clear distinction. The pressure to meet expectations, both your own and others', makes it difficult to maintain that optimistic outlook. The constant feeling of being overwhelmed clouds the idea of taking things one step at a time.

However, it is essential to realize that life is not a checklist.

It is not about ticking off one achievement and swiftly moving on to the next. The journey is not always linear, and sometimes, it is about enduring the challenges rather than conquering them. Acknowledging this reality can bring a sense of relief, allowing you to accept that taking each day as it comes is a continuous effort, not a one-time accomplishment.

Moreover, it does not mean that if you have once failed to find comfort in the Lord that He is not with you.

If you have struggled to find comfort in the Lord once, it does not mean He is not with you. God's presence is constant, even in moments of doubt or difficulty. It is okay to feel distant or overwhelmed, but remember, the Lord remains by your side, offering strength and solace.

In times of doubt, turn to prayer. Communicate your struggles and fears openly with God. The act of seeking Him, even in moments of uncertainty, is a powerful acknowledgment of your reliance on His guidance. Reflect on the Bible, where it is said,

"The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth" (Psalm 145:18, ESV).

Hopefully, one day, you will find yourself on a clear path, where the way forward becomes more apparent. Even if the feeling of being lost persists, take a moment to look back and appreciate your achievements. Sometimes, in reflecting on your journey, you can gain clarity about what to do next.

It may not happen overnight, but with time and introspection, you might uncover a deeper understanding of your purpose and direction. So, take a breath and give yourself credit for the steps you have taken.

I'm a Christian who sees the church as my second home. Not only were my parents the ones who raised me, but our church elders and members also played a significant role. However, despite attending church every Sunday, I still have some questions regarding my faith. As a writer, the articles I create serve as answers to the questions I've had and continue to have, and I hope they can serve a purpose for others who are searching for the same answers.
