You’re not Bound by Rules in Christianity

Christianity is not a rule or law. Christianity is a loving relationship between you and your Father, God. You go to God, because He’s your father, because you love Him and because you’re working on establishing a beautiful relationship with Him. It’s not a do or die affair. God doesn’t even want a relationship with His children where we’ll be forced to worship Him, talk to Him or have a devotion with Him.
This is something you should do because you’ve experienced the beauty of God’s presence and you just want to talk to Him again, over and over again. Everywhere and everytime. Haven’t you ever wondered why some persons feel naked when they leave the room without any kind of conversation with God? No, it’s not because it’s a law or some kind of rule that they must talk to God everyday, it’s because they know and understand the beautiful experience that happens when they say, ‘Good morning, Father…’
It’s because they understand that this is a relationship and relationship grows with constant conversation, it doesn’t matter if you feel the conversation is making any sense or not, you’re just telling God everything. You’re not checking for grammatical errors in your speech or making sure you’re using the right words in the right sentences, no, you’re just talking to God. That’s one of the most awesome things about talking to God.
Have you ever wondered why people cultivate the habit of talking to God everywhere without even knowing they’re cultivating that habit? It’s because they’ve seen talking to God as something that is as important as breathing. They don’t feel pressurized by any kind of law of ‘you must pray everyday’. Don’t get me wrong it’s okay to talk to God everyday, but not when you’re doing that with the mindset of ‘I have to do this because society feels it’s necessary.’
No, you should do it because you enjoy talking to God. You should do it because you know that even though your sentences are incorrect, your speech slurred and your grammatical errors are glaring, God still hears and enjoys the fact that you’re talking to Him despite the busyness of this world and distractions in your face.
This is a new habit to cultivate : Leave rules, procedures and laws aside when you come before God. He’s your father, not a ruler. He wants your heart not your grammar, he wants a willing conversation with you and not a forced one.
He wants You. God wants You. Don’t go to Him with the mindset of ‘I heard you want us praying to you, here we are fulfilling all righteousness.’
When you talk to your friend, do you do that as a fulfilment of righteousness? Of course not. Emotions and feelings come into the whole conversation, and even when we feel nothing we still go to Him.
That’s it. Our Heavenly Father is willing to have a relationship with us, much more than we are even willing to talk to Him.
Don’t let the devil keep you bound to legalism, he’ll try to taunt you and make you feel useless for not praying, talking to God or reading the Bible and that is when you start praying to God just because it’s necessary to be in the good book and not for the pleasure of talking to your father. The devil is good at giving us images of God being angry when you miss out on some days or forget, whether you’re a growing Christian or matured Christian, don’t just quit trying. The relationship gets easy and stronger as you keep coming, to the point that you’ll find no reason to leave His presence again. You’ll come into the sense of beauty and contentment, having the King of all Kings listen to you talk. It’s an amazing feeling.
Reading the Word holds the keys to an intimate relationship with God and talking to God builds our faith. May God give us the grace to remain in His presence, no matter what.
Amen
