What About Habits?
Merriam-Webster describes Habit this way: an acquired mode of behavior that has become nearly or completely involuntary. a behavior pattern acquired by frequent repetition or physiologic exposure that shows itself in regularity or increased facility of performance.
Macmillan Dictionary says this: something that you do often or regularly, often without thinking about it.
With these we can ascertain that a habit is behavioral, often repeated, is repetitive and can be done without conscious thought.
The Bible doesn’t talk about habits specifically. However, it does give us instructions about spiritual disciplines and attitudes. We all have habits be them good or bad.
As Christians we are to be renewing our minds Romans 12:2. We are to be exchanging bad habits for good habits. So that we may please the Lord. As our minds change so will our habits. We should be developing Christ-likeness. Depending on our habits, good habits will make us, and bad habits will break us.
