When is the End of Time?

No one knows when the end of time will arrive. One thing we do know though is it’s getting closer. As the clock continues to tick, the signs of the times are moving upon us.

Our courts oppose the righteous, and justice is nowhere to be found. Truth stumbles in the streets, and honesty has been outlawed. Yes, truth is gone, and anyone who renounces evil is attacked.  Isaiah 59:14-15

Isn’t it amazing that what Isaiah experienced, parallels the ways of life today? Justice has taken on new meanings while honesty falls prey to calculated loopholes.

Our court system still uses the Bible to swear by. Yet it moves further and further away from biblical principles. Resulting in the ungodly views leading our society.

Opposition toward righteousness has catapulted more than ever, thus many have turned their backs on God. And sin runs ramped which cuts people off from God.

It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. Isaiah 59:2

The balance of justice often sways against those who hold to the truth that Jesus died for their sins. And laws don’t mean a thing if communities don’t want them to.

Today’s Attitudes

The attitude of today holds that everyone can be right no matter how wrong they are. Also, all lifestyles are acceptable even if the Lord calls them detestable.

In chapter 5, Isaiah addressed the very things going on all around us. God said that sorrow awaits the ones who do these things.

What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. Isaiah 5:20

Isaiah goes on to say that no one cares about honesty, thus making truth just a stumbling block.

No one cares about being fair and honest. The people’s lawsuits are based on lies. They conceive evil deeds and then give birth to sin. Isaiah 59:4

It seemed as though Isaiah looked through the portals of time and wrote about us. Even though the world is going south morally, look at what Peter wrote in his second epistle.

I want you to remember what the holy prophets said long ago and what our Lord and Savior commanded through your apostles. 2 Peter 3:2

Peter’s words stand as a reminder that God forewarned us through the prophets. Peter continued in the next verse with these words.

Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. 2 Peter 3:3

So what’s happening in the world today shouldn’t surprise us at all. Have you taken notice of the arguments non-Christians use?

People Scoffing at the End of Time

They seem to never talk about the things God does. But they quickly voice their opinions of God’s shortcomings and failures.

They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” 2 Peter 3:4

The prince of this world has the unsaved convinced that they have the final word. Even to the point that they think they are in control. But again, look what Peter said.

But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. 2 Peter 3:10

It is not my intention with this article to minister a message of doom and gloom. But we are talking about the end of time.

Therefore, we must remember that the decision made at the end of our time on this earth is permanent.

Sometimes, however, it’s good to have a reminder of where we are, where we are going, and who we belong to.

Finishing on a High Note

So we’ll close with the first verse and the last two verses of chapter 59. They act like bookends holding all the sin exposing content between them.

First of all, we can call upon God at any time. In fact, He is the only one we can successfully call on.

Listen! The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call. Isaiah 59:1

We can enter into His presence boldly and yet humbly. We must come to Him with a repentant heart, willing to receive forgiveness and offer it.

Also, come to the Lord in obedience and with expectation. Then at the end of the chapter, verse 20 reveals the Redeemer.

The Redeemer will come to Jerusalem to buy back those in Israel who have turned from their sins,” says the Lord. Isaiah 59:20

The Redeemer has already come. He is available to all who call upon His name. Turn from your sins and call upon the name of Jesus.

God’s Covenant Lasts Beyond the End of Time

To finalize this, God put a seal on His covenant. A covenant that will last forever, well beyond the end of time.

And this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit will not leave them, and neither will these words I have given you.  Isaiah 59:21

Lord, life is getting tougher in these last days. But because of your promises, we can endure to the end of time. And what a day that will be.
