The Chaos Is Over

“Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins” (Isaiah 40:2).

Isaiah spoke prophetically to Isreal during their captivity in Babylon and declared their warfare ended and their inequities pardoned. The people were still in exile, yet he spoke of what the Lord was about to do, as a comfort them. “Comfort, comfort my people, says your God” (Isaiah 40:1). A voice cried in preparation for the Lord to level the uneven ground, to lift up the valleys and to bring down every mountain and hill. God was ready to reveal his glory to the world through his chosen people. Isaiah wanted a cry to go out about the greatness of God, his might as he was coming to bring a reward and recompense. God’s presence would restore peace where there was chaos and bring order where there was confusion.

Times of captivity were preceded by war and plunder, which led to people and resources being scattered. God’s restoration involved the gathering back of his people and the regaining order. Nehemiah’s rebuilding of the walls in Jerusalem created the boundaries which provided protection for the city. It also restored order and controlled the movement and flow of people and resources (Nehemiah 4). Zerubbabel also rebuilt the temple to restore worship in Isreal and the altars were also rebuilt to offer sacrifices unto God (Ezra 3). Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord on Mount Carmel which had been thrown down (1 Kings 18:30). We can assume that the altar was torn down by the prophets of Baal, in opposition to pure worship.

Paul spoke to the Corinthians about the importance of orderly worship unto God. “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints” (1 Corinthians 14:33). We can conclude that wherever there is disorder, chaos and confusion, that God is not the the creator or architect of those systems. The devils comes to steal, kill and destroy things that belong to the children of God. The devil uses chaos and confusion to rob people of their peace and blessings. Jesus came to give us life in abundance and like Jesus we speak to chaos and command, “Peace! Be still” (Mark 4:39).

We are no longer tolerating chaos in our spheres of influence. We command this spirit to cease from creating any further havoc and we speak the peace of Jesus Christ. Peace in our homes, peace in our communities, peace in the marketplace, peace over our children and marriages. “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

Born and raised in Jamaica in a Christian family where my father is an ordained Pastor and Deacon who has served for over 50 years in the ministry. My father is also a trained musician and our family can be described as a musical family. I grew up in a small farming community in St. Peter’s, St. Andrew and my parents also have a small farm.

I credit my gift of writing to my father who I watched and listened to over the years as he wrote sermons, poems and other recitals in his capacity in ministry. English has always been an easy subject for me and over the years I have developed an increased interest in writing.

I am a Trainer, I sing and have a passion for worship, the spoken word and the free flow of the prophetic anointing. I am married to my best friend Andrew Christopher Young who is an advanced Musician and whose music you can find on YouTube and Facebook. I am a trained Coach and Mentor and I love experimenting with food so I love cooking. I enjoy trying cultural dishes from across the world and I view food as an entry into cultures and languages.
