Power and Might

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Jesus is recorded as speaking to the disciples before his ascension into heaven. He reinforced the promise of the Holy Spirit and spoke of a new baptism not with water but with the fire of the Holy Spirit. This was manifested later with the Acts church when they waited for the promise. “And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them” (Acts 2:3).

God is a consuming fire and there are different manifestations of God in the trinity as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus was referred to as the word which was in the beginning with God and was God (John 1:1). The word of God is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).

God is also manifested in the person of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. This same power of God who raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives inside of you (Romans 8:11). Jesus has given us power to tread upon serpents and scorpions (demons), and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing can hurt us (Luke 10:19).

We have to maintain a consciousness of who we are and the power that lives in us. Our words are powerful and our prayers are strong enough to shake foundations. Our voices as people of God can change the world and we have the power and authority to move mountains. We can command the weather patterns and even the sea to be calm. Do you know how powerful you are? You have unlimited power from on high. “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world”
‭‭(1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬).

I am a trained Social Worker who currently provides professional leadership on a programme to support Social Work students and Newly Qualified Social Workers entering the Social Work Profession.

Born and raised in Jamaica in a Christian family where my father is an ordained Pastor and Deacon who has served for over 50 years in the ministry. My father is also a trained musician and our family can be described as a musical family. I grew up in a small farming community in St. Peter’s, St. Andrew and my parents also have a small farm.

I credit my gift of writing to my father who I watched and listened to over the years as he wrote sermons, poems and other recitals in his capacity in ministry. English has always been an easy subject for me and over the years I have developed an increased interest in writing.

I am a Trainer, I sing and have a passion for worship, the spoken word and the free flow of the prophetic anointing. I am married to my best friend Andrew Christopher Young who is an advanced Musician and whose music you can find on YouTube and Facebook. I am a trained Coach and Mentor and I love experimenting with food so I love cooking. I enjoy trying cultural dishes from across the world and I view food as an entry into cultures and languages.
