30 Days of Prayer: Pray for Wisdom (Day 3) - Be Whole, Mom

30 Days of Prayer Pray for Wisdom Day3

You know those days when you just feel lost and confused?  Like you just have no idea what God is doing and why?  These are the days when we most need wisdom, but first we must know how to find it.

Welcome to Day 3 of the 30 Days of Prayer series!  I am SO thrilled you are here.

Wisdom is one of those things that I have had an affinity for my entire life.  I was one of those kids who people said have an old soul (or something), which I eventually learned was something people connected to wisdom.  This is a gift of the Holy Spirit and one that can be readily share within and to the Body of Christ.

Our God is such a gracious God that He pours out His Spirit readily into His children who call on His Name!  What a glorious King we serve, who loves us and desires deeply for us to grow into maturity (see 10 Steps to an Astounding Walk with God here).

May we never stop seeking to know Him more.

The Gift of Wisdom is explained as “the intimate understanding of God’s Word and His commandments which results in holy and upright living” (1).  It is also explained further from 1 Corinthians 12: 8 to “speak to the life of an individual or to a specific situation with great understanding and a righteous perspective, with the goal of guiding others toward a life of holiness and worship” (1).

Wisdom is such an amazing gift for us as believers.  It is how we can rightfully discern what God wants us to do in a particular situation, because it readily speaks the Ways of the Lord into our souls.

The Holy Spirit is ready and willing to help us each to navigate this world and the life we have been given in a way that is holy and uplifting to our Abba.

He provides for His Bride.

The Heart of Our Abba

As Proverbs states:

“Out in the open wisdom calls aloud,

she raises her voice in the public square;

on top of the wall she cries out,

at the city gate she makes her speech:

‘How long will you who are simple love your simple ways?

How long will mockers delight in mockery

and fools hate knowledge?

Repent at my rebuke!

Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,

I will make known to you my teachings.’” ~ Prov. 1: 20-23

Wisdom is deeply connected to the heart and essence of a Christian faith walk.  When we grow in wisdom and continue to seek more and more of it, rather than close our ears to what it has to say, we experience a deeper and growing relationship with our Abba through His Son!

Sometimes wisdom is not something we truly want to hear.  When we are making a sinful choice, or doing something out of a wrong heart intention, those around us in the Body who listen to the voice of wisdom are apt to lovingly confront us about the problem.

Wisdom Loves to Help Us Live Righteous Lives

One of the most potent experiences I have ever had with wisdom is when I was in a particularly difficult season in my marriage (are you waiting for a harvest in your marriage like I was?  This post is for you).  I was bitter, angry, and downright annoyed all. the. time.

My husband could do nothing right in my eyes, and I was ready to spew venom at any moment (know the feeling?  This post‘s for you).

But, I was restrained, thank GOD, because I did not need to add more fuel to the fire.

On one day in particular a friend of mine and I basically planned to talk later so we could have a husband bashing session about our husbands.  We got off the phones to take care of home things, and then planned to speak later that evening.

When we reconnected later that night, my friend stopped me in the middle of my “hello” and said, “We can’t do this.  God spoke to me.”

She began to explain that after we had gotten off of the phone she was fuming.  As she sat there furious about our husbands and the current state of affairs, she heard a still small voice speak to her heart.

Do you want me to change your husbands?

YES!  Of course I do!

Then you have to get out of My Way.

The moment she spoke those words, immediate conviction filled my heart.  Within myself I repented of my sinful and judgmental heart attitude and begged the Lord to show me how in the world to get out of His Way.

And, He surely did lead me down that path; one little step at a time (see this post for scriptures to pray over your marriage).

This Word of Wisdom my friend had received permanently set my life on an entirely new course, and I have been thankful for that single event in my life for over a decade.

The Word Sets the Foundation for Understanding Him More

Wisdom is almost like the heartbeat of God, pulsing out into His people to the areas of the Body that need life restored and awakened.  His Word is the captured breath of that pulse, which we get the joyful opportunity to reflect on and turn to at any time we choose.

Here are 8 of the MANY scriptures on wisdom.  These are just a sampling of the bread available for the taking:

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” ~ Prov. 9: 10

But wisdom is proved right by all her children.” ~ Luke 7: 35

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” ~ Prov. 11: 2

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” ~ James 1: 5

And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.” ~ Luke 2:40

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” ~ Proverbs 31: 26

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!” ~ Romans 11: 33

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” ~ Eph. 1: 17

Pray for Wisdom

Abba Father, I come to You seeking an outpouring of Your wisdom into my life.  I want to clearly know the things that align with You.  Help me to know Your Ways more that they may be a guide to my life and  a protection to my soul.  May I never stray from Your Ways, but rather hold tightly to them for all eternity.  Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.  Amen.

Sweet sister, may your prayers be fulfilled to the glory of the Lord.

Call out for wisdom.  Pray for more.  Ask the Lord to abundantly pour out onto you, and then…OBEY what He leads you to do.

Shalom.
