Everything You Need To Know About Baptism - House of Mercy Christian Assembly UK

Baptism is the outward act that symbolizes the inward phenomenon of coming to and accepting Jesus Christ as real, as God incarnate, as the sacrificial means by which those who believe in him can be forever reconciled to God

As per the example of Jesus – by being immersed in water. The word “baptise” comes from the Greek word “baptise” which means “to immerse or dip underwater”.

Whether you’re in your twenties or seventies, it’s never too late to turn toward The Lord and find him. This is why churches offer adult baptism and encourage you to submit to the Lord and be a part of religious gatherings and events.

Christian baptism is the means by which a person makes a public profession of faith and discipleship. In the waters of baptism, a person says, wordlessly, “I confess faith in Christ; Jesus has cleansed my soul from sin, and I now have a new life of sanctification.”

If you’re looking for spiritual peace and considering getting baptised, you might be wondering how to begin and what to expect. If that’s the case, this blog will help guide you through the process of getting closer to your Lord.

The first thing you must do is join a church. You must not prioritize convenience when making this choice, like joining the church that’s down the street when making this choice.

The selection should be based on how connected you feel with the place. Select the one that’s the most suited to your religious beliefs. Attend events of different churches and choose the one that makes you feel at home.

To make sure baptism is the right thing for you to do, you’ll have to prepare yourself mentally for the process. For this reason, you’ll have to attend the religious gathering at the church, meet the pastors and bishops in person, and take part in the services offered by the church.

The more you spend time speaking to religious people in the church, the more it’ll help you follow your belief firmly and strengthen your faith.

Once you’re fully prepared, a baptism ceremony is scheduled by your church. Different denominations schedule a baptism at different times so check with them before you clear out your schedule.

This water was a figure of baptism, which is not the purification of the defilements of the body, but the commitment of good conscience to God, and which now saves you also through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The baptism process begins with the recitation of biblical scriptures. Some common scriptures that are read during the ceremony include:

  • Luke 3:21 22
  • Mark 1:9 11
  • John 1:29 33
  • Matthew 3:13 17
  • Peter 3: 23

The baptismal candidate is required to confess their love for God and the church and renounce evil by answering a few questions asked by the pastor. This can also be done by repeating the words that the priest tells you to say. The main idea is to believe Jesus Christ to be the son of God and turn down sinning.

These are the three things the church is commanded to do:  Make disciples — help people come to know Christ, baptize them by getting immersed in water, and assist them to grow.

Many people think, “I will be baptized after I have grown up.  After I know about the Christian life, then I will be baptized.”  Baptism should occur be right after you make the decision to follow Christ.

In fact, baptism is the very first command Jesus gives you after repentance. If you cannot obey this simple instruction, how can you obey more challenging ones?

Notice the order:  You make the disciples, then you baptize them, then you spend the rest of your life following and growing as a Christian.
