“FEEL GOOD” TUNES TUESDAY: David Ashley Trent’s Song, “No Shelter” - The DV Walking Wounded:

ARTIST/SONG: David Ashley Trent, No Shelter (2020)

I Googled “What song does a survivor of domestic abuse need to hear?” I was hoping that Jesus, by way of the popular search engine, would provide an answer…and I was NOT disappointed! He ALWAYS provides…and boy, what a selection He gave me!

I was led to the link of the song/video on YouTube by David Ashley Trent. Trent’s song, “No Shelter,” is just personally filmed [commentary] video, where he sings the powerful song, after his explanation of where he had performed it: at a benefit concert for a domestic violence women’s shelter, called A Place at the Lake, in Benton County, Missouri. “No Shelter” was a song that he had written, but never previously released, so he decided to try out the song and now dedicates it to everyone at the DV shelter. He praised the volunteers and the staff, as they had a wonderful night of singing and fellowship and praising the Lord!

Sadly, I cannot find the website of the DV shelter, but the song sticks in a person’s soul. Jesus has always been my shelter, and I knew He protected me the entire time I was in active abuse. This song spoke to me on a personal aa well as a deep, spiritual level. I wanted to share this with my readers! <3 Enjoy and play it on repeat!

    LYRICS:

    “No Shelter”

How many nights, did she dream about just running away?

And how many times has she hid under the covers as she prayed?

Cuz the bedroom walls are thin and she is slamming doors and screaming down the hall

Oh God, I pray you would hold her hand until the darkness turns to dawn

Cuz there is no shelter, like the shelter of Your Love,

There is no shelter, like the covering of Your Blood,

Into the fortress of Your open ams we run,

There is no shelter like Your Love!

How many times has walked a way down some ole dead end road

Chasing after empty dreams that emptied out his pockets and his soul,

But Jesus You’re still calling him home,

Because there is no shelter like the shelter of Your Love,

There is no shelter like the covering of Your Blood,

Into the fortress of Your open ams we run,

There is no shelter like Your Love!

So Jesus, hide us, in the Shadow of Yahweh,

Jesus, hide us, in the Shadow of Yahweh,

There’s no place in Heaven or on Earth I’d rather be,

Jesus hide us in the shelter of Your Way,

Because there is not shelter like the shelter of Your Love,

There is no shelter like the covering of Your Blood,

Into the fortress of Your open ams we run,

There is no shelter like Your Love!

    No shelter like Your Love…
