Finding Higher Ground Through Christ
In warfare, higher ground has always been the place of advantage. Clarity of vision from a higher perspective means being able to see what your enemy is planning, allows you to plan a counterattack, and aim your weapons with a clear line of sight. When we are seated with Christ in heavenly places, we have a strategic advantage over our spiritual enemies.
This elevated position not only gives battle advantages but also the security of being embraced by the Savior and close enough to know the mind of Christ and the heart of the Father. There is no safer place.
Our spiritual advisory team (consisting of the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, the Spirit of Counsel and Might, the Spirit of Knowledge, and the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord—see Rev 5:6 and Isaiah 11:2), which is sent to minister to us, gives us a tactical edge before the battle even begins.
The weapons of our warfare are mighty! (2 Corinthians 10:4) God equips us with more power and superior technology than our enemy can imagine or afford.
When we pray from this heavenly position, we are not begging or trying to convince God to intervene. Instead, we agree with what we know He already wants to do. In fact, He has already won - not just this battle - but the entire war! Faith flows confidently because the victory is already ours. All we have to do is take that seat of authority and open our mouths in agreement with His word and whatever He desires.
We have a place of spiritual dominion above all principalities and powers. Our warfare is rooted in our identity as children of God. It would seem the only way we could lose is not to show up.
Questions for Reflection:
- What lies have the enemy told me that keeps me from taking my seat in heavenly places?
- How does seeing myself in a seat of authority change the way I pray?
