Five Minute Friday – Brave

On Fridays I link to Lisa Jo Baker and take only 5 minute to write a post. Great for making me to sit and write with total freedom. Here goes:

BRAVE

Jan Cox
Janis Cox – age 6

As a young girl my shyness kept me from trying new things. I didn’t put my hand up in class; I hated speaking in front of the class; terror struck in my heart when I had to go somewhere new or on my own.

My Dad, who was a Captain in WWII, always encouraged me; never put me down for my shyness; and told me to be strong and brave.

Gradually over the years I developed a better sense of daring. I started to teach school and felt capable and prepared to be a good teacher. I encouraged my students to relax with one another and have respect for one another. They blossomed.

I married and had children. They helped me to be braver – especially with spiders, bees and snakes. Of course, when they fell or got sick I had to be brave as well.

But true bravery did not happen until later in my life when I met Jesus fully and since that time nothing has stood in my way of trying something new. I do say in my bio that I won’t bungee jump and that is true but I do meet new people, try new activities and go new places by myself.

And I stand up for Jesus – no fear of telling people what I believe and what He has done in my life.

This has only happened since the fear has fled and been replaced by a new sense of God in me.

Nothing can separate me from God – No thing.
So how can I be afraid of anything? I can’t. (tweet this)

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of Godthat is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39, NIV).

I guess that is bravery. Brave because I have Jesus.

Time is up. What do you think of when you hear the word “BRAVE”?

Have a great weekend,

Blessings,

Janis

3. Go leave some comment props for the five minute artist who linked up before you {and if you love us, consider turning off word verification for the day to make it easier for folks to say howdy}

It’s a great way to catch your breath at the end of a long week.
