How To Not Be Like Jeshurun or Israel? - Raising Zion

Who is Jeshurun? Synonym for Israel. God’s people.

What is the problem with believers today? Many are becoming like Jeshurun (Israel), despite all the material, physical, and financial blessings God has given them.

How was Jeshurun, or Israel?

“But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. (Deuteronomy‬ ‭32:15‬)

Israel took God lightly and forsook God. Many are doing the same today by not praying or meditating on God’s word daily. By avoiding fellowship because of their guilt of sin and poor spiritual walk.

How did their state become so? With the abundance of riches came a leanness in their soul. Riches = Comforts of life. Who is rich? Anyone who has more than what 1 Timothy 6:8 says.

But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.

Those who are rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition (1 Timothy‬ ‭6:9‬).

When we strive to live at par with worldly physical and material standards we grow lean spiritually in our heavenly standards and understanding. The standard of heaven is simple, yet excellent. The earthly blessings need to be decided by God, not our desires. We tend to hoard and heap to ourselves things of this world. Often taking away our time with God.

We need to stay focused on doing the will of God, as He adds all things necessary for earth while filling us up spiritually according to our calling.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

Prepare yourself to meet Jesus. Maranatha, praise God and Amen.
