21 For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.

-Mark 7:21-22, NLT

I suspect the seeds for cheating were already planted within the Cheater’s heart when we first married them. They may or may not have been active at the time. However, I suspect whatever wickedness would manifest later was already present in some form.

In other words, they were likely a ticking time bomb, so to speak.

The inevitable stresses in a marriage relationship simply served to reveal the problems already present in their hearts. They decided to “solve” issues by escaping to a “fun” new relationship or two.

This pattern of behavior is something they would have done whether or not married to us or someone else. It is–sadly–who they are.

Their hearts harbored this wickedness. Actions would inevitably follow without rooting it out.
