IGNORING MOCKERS AND SCORNERS
To scorn is to show strong contempt toward something or someone. Similarly, to mock is to make fun of something or someone, to ridicule or mimic something or someone contemptuously.
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts” (2 Peter 3:3). Be prepared. People will mock at your faith. Are you living in the fear of God and in expectation of the rapture? Men will mock at you. If they mocked at believers some 2000 years ago, they will mock at you today.
They will say, “People have been saying Jesus is coming for thousands of years but up till now He has not come.” They will tell you it’s the white man’s gimmick to subdue the rest of the world. You have to brush such mockers and scourners aside and firmly root your faith in Christ.
They are out on a satanic assignment to derail your faith. If you let them sow seeds of doubts into you, you will not take daily holy living serious any more, which may make you ill-prepared for this most unannounced event.
“And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb” (1 Samuel 1:6). Are you trusting God for a particular change or blessing like Hannah did?
Expect the mockers. Hannah was despised because of her barrenness. Peninnah her mate won’t let her rest. She would say, “There is nothing to show for all the food you have been eating in this house.”
She would taunt her morning, afternoon and night and say, “I know of men and women. You are neither of them. But if you claim to be a woman, prove it by producing a child.” Are you being mocked today? Are your adversaries calling you names because of a particular problem? From today the Lord will silence all your mockers in Jesus name.
Hannah ignored the scorners and mockers but focused on God, her help. If you listen to them, they will increase your sorrow, doubts and fears. Shut your ears to everyone sent to remind you of that barrenness, joblessness, and poverty. Focus on the Lord and call upon Him. He will turn your situation around.
