John Chrysostom's salvation theology compared to Don Nesbitt and Robert Breaker

Let us define all three soteriologies.

1. Don Nesbitt. The Lord put it on my heart to call him the Lord's bloodhound. (Coined by Vincent Strycula)

Don Nesbitt teaches salvation is a gift that had to be accepted by believing and asking God.

Salvation to him was a two-step formula.

"I hate to have to go over this again but real quick because there's some, quite frankly there's some boneheads out there pretending to be Bible teachers and they're deceiving a lot of people about something so simple in third grade English I can't believe we're even having to go over this again but in Romans chapter 10 let's look at what the Bible says let's look at the words let's not concern ourselves with anybody's interpretation or anybody's doctrine or teaching let's look at the words here okay can we do that Romans chapter 10 verse 8 what but what saith it the word what do you how do you get words if you're gonna form a word what do you use use your mouth right the word is nigh thee even in thy mouth boy this is a revelation this is deep wow even in thy mouth and in thy heart there's your belief it's both that is the word of faith which we preach that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth oh you know I should just take some white out maybe I should just take some white out and get rid of that right there right because it doesn't really matter no don't take white out to any of this you believe with your heart and that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth what's so hard about those words those are four words what does that mean in the Greek who cares confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart there's your belief that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved for with the heart there's the first thing that's the belief man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession you know what confession is confession let me give you a synonym I looked up a couple of these just to help you out here you know real hard word there confession a synonym of confession synonyms include talk another synonym of confession is admit another synonym is blab how about an antonym you want a few antonyms antonyms to confession hush quiet or shut up" - Don Nesbitt, The Last Word on Romans 10:9-14!

"This has to do with confession this is the confessing part it's the believing part and the confessing part but like he said this is how you get saved but the smart aleck will come in and maybe this is what made me want to do this because I felt the smart alecks are going to come in and they're going to comment on Nathan's video and I just want to kind of cover this ground to kind of cover the comments that could come in and we know what this is it says but what saith it the word is nigh thee even in thy mouth and in thy heart both that is the word of faith which we preach that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth so it's something you better do the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved now here's where the smart aleck will come in they'll say okay the Lord Jesus there am I saved it says confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus is that all I have to do oh okay yeah I confess that he was raised from the dead does that mean I'm saved you see a smart aleck and there's a better word for it that has to do with a donkey all I'll forbear they don't get it because they don't want to get it now you can read down through here where it says for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness with the mouth confession is made unto salvation for the scripture saith regardless of your Baptist denomination whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed for there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek but the same Lord is over all unto all that call upon him regardless of what you think for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" - Don Nesbitt, Bouncing off of Nathan's Message

"If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness now Nathan was applying this in a salvation context you can use a dual application here this is for the daily believer after you get saved you walk in this world your feet get dirty and you collect sin on your flesh and that hinders your fellowship with Jesus Christ so you have to confess your daily sin you have to confess that sin and then the blood of Jesus Christ washes your flesh clean your soul is already clean and so your soul is already sealed but your flesh gets cleansed by that blood to restore your fellowship how do you get that blood how does that blood come in and cleanse your flesh if we confess now think just think God gave you a brain for a reason why would God tell you that the blood of Jesus Christ will cleanse your flesh to restore your fellowship if you confess if the same doesn't apply to the blood coming in and washing your soul so that you could be saved and there'd be confession you see how the two match do you want the blood of Jesus Christ to wash your soul clean so that you can be saved from your sin there's going to be a confession involved there after you get saved do you want that blood to wash away the sin on your flesh to get rid of that sin a confession is made" - Don Nesbitt, Bouncing off of Nathan's Message

"[He's talking as someone else] I don't know any Bible, I really don't know a lot about salvation or anything, but I'm coming to you the best way I know how, I believe in the gospel, please save me, I want to be saved in Jesus' name. You know what, you're saved at that point. You responded, you heard the gospel, you picked up the phone and heard the gospel, and then you responded" - Don Nesbitt, video on Salvation.

"Proverbs chapter 1 verse 24 God's saying because I have called I called you man I called I rang and I rang and I rang the phone and you refused you didn't pick it up well there was once that you picked it up then you just held it up to your head I'm not talking I'm not going to say anything I'm not responding I'm just going to hold it up to my head I'm going to be silent yeah you know and you're thinking to yourself yeah I believe what he says yeah yeah I trust what he's saying yeah you know what he's saying makes sense you're saying that in your heart to yourself yeah yeah I believe it but you never respond guess what you never got it because I have called and ye refused I have stretched out my hand and no man regarded see that's man well I don't want to use this phone look at that old thing dirty I mean who uses this it's got cords on it are you kidding where's the iPhone okay I'll call I'll respond" - Don Nesbitt, Video on Salvation

2. John Chrysostom

"(If you ever have to toss a coin between Chrysostom and Origen, save yourself the trouble; Chrysostom was a soulwinning, Bible-preaching missionary. Origen was a Platonic Arian who devoted his life to destroying the Textus Receptus.)" - Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians Commentary (The Bible Believer's Commentary Series), Chapter 4

John Chrysostom taught salvation was a gift that had to be accepted by believing and asking God.

Salvation to him was a two-step formula.

This is the same as his teacher, Diodore of Tarsus.

"Necessarily he set forth 'those who call upon him.' For God does not give grace without discernment, extending it even to those who are unwilling to offer so much to the Benefactor as at least to ask and pray with him. And lest anyone say that many fail to call upon the Lord Jesus out of ignorance rather than unbelief and ingratitude, he shows through what follows that God took away even the excuse of their ignorance, sending evangelists and heralds who urge and invite them to ask for the gift. Therefore he added what follows."

This is where John Chrysostom establishes this view on salvation.

"Now I have said these things so that you may not think you were disadvantaged by what happened at the beginning. The devil cast Adam out; Christ brought the thief in. And consider the difference: the devil cast out a man who had committed no sin, but had merely a single stain of disobedience; yet Christ brought into Paradise a thief bearing ten thousand burdens of sin.

Is this, then, the only wonder, that He brought a thief into Paradise, and nothing else? There is yet a greater thing to tell. For He not only brought in a thief, but brought him in before the entire world, and even before the Apostles, so that none of those who come afterward might despair of entry, nor lose hope in their own salvation, when they see one filled with countless evils walking freely in the royal courts.

Yet let us see: did the thief display labors, righteous deeds, and good fruits? One cannot even say this! Rather, on the strength of a bare word, by faith alone, he leaped into Paradise before the Apostles, so that you might learn that it was not his own merit that had such power, but that the Master's love for mankind accomplished the whole work.

For what did the thief say? What did he do? Did he fast? Did he weep? Did he tear his garments? Did he show repentance over a long period of time? Not at all! But on the cross itself, after the sentence was passed, he attained salvation. Behold the swiftness: from the cross to heaven; from condemnation to salvation! What, then, were those words? How great was their power, that they procured so many blessings for him? "Remember me," he said, "in Your kingdom." - John Chrysostom, Patrologia Graeca, Tomus LIV (54), PDF pages 237-238

"But Isaiah the prophet, who spake many years ago, that we were to be sent, and to preach, and to say what we do say. If the being saved, then, came of calling upon Him, and calling upon Him from believing, and believing from hearing, and hearing from preaching, and preaching from being sent, and if they were sent, and did preach, and the prophet went round with them to point them out, and proclaim them, and say that these were they whom they showed of so many ages ago, whose feet even they praised because of the matter of their preaching; then it is quite clear that the not believing was their own fault only. And that because God's part had been fulfilled completely." - John Chrysostom, Romans 10:14, Homily 18 on Romans.

“You see how he produces witnesses, whether to the faith, or to the confession of it. For the words, ‘Every one that believeth,’ point out the faith. But the words, ‘Whosoever shall call upon,’ set forth confession. Then again to proclaim the universality of the grace, and to lay their boasting low, what he had before demonstrated at length, he here briefly recalls to their memory, showing again that there is no difference between the Jew and the uncircumcised. ‘For there is,’ he says, ‘no difference between the Jew and the Greek.’” -John Chrysostom, Romans 10:11, Homily 18 on Romans.

"For there is no need to say, he means, that one must go up to heaven, or cross a great sea, and then receive the commandments, but things so great and grand hath God made of easy access to us. And what meaneth the phrase, 'The Word is nigh thee?' That is, It is easy. For in thy mind and in thy tongue is thy salvation. There is no long journey to go, no seas to sail over, no mountains to pass, to get saved. But if you be not minded to cross so much as the threshold, you may even while you SIT AT HOME BE SAVED. For 'in thy mouth and in thy heart' is the source of salvation." - John Chrysostom, Romans 10:9, Homily 18 on Romans.

We know that isn't rhetorical hyperbole, due to the thief on the cross and this homily containing the same belief of how easy salvation is achieved.

What he means then is somewhat of this sort. There is no need of fetching a circuit, and of trouble, and the vexation of the works of the Law, for the salvation is by a very short way. For such is faith, it holds salvation in a few short words. For if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. Romans 10:9 Now you see what this, the Lord shall make a short word upon earth, is. And what is indeed wonderful is, that this short word carries with it not salvation only, but also righteousness." - John Chrysostom, Homily 16 on Romans

"We have despised God, we have hated that good Name, we have trodden Christ under foot, we have lost all reverence, none names the Name of God with honor. Yet if you love any one, even at his name you start to your feet; but God you thus continually invoke, and make nothing of it. Call upon Him for the benefit of your enemy; call upon Him for THE SALVATION of your own soul; then he will be present, then you will delight Him; whereas now you provoke Him to anger. Call upon Him as Stephen did; "Lord," he said, "lay not this sin to their charge." [Acts 7:59] Call upon Him as did the wife of Elkanah, with tears and sobs, and prayers. [1 Samuel 1:10] I prevent you not, rather I earnestly exhort you to it. Call upon him as Moses called upon Him, yea, cried, interceding for those who had driven him into banishment." - John Chrysostom, Homily 10 on the Acts of the Apostles

3. Robert Breaker

Robert Breaker's salvation is that you are saved by believing the gospel, which he re-defines to be bloody and then you trust the blood of Jesus Christ specifically as your object of faith with all of your heart, and then you're saved.

"So when I say trust the blood, believe in the blood, I have always mentioned the whole gospel, explained it in the gospel and said trust the blood means you're trusting in the death, burial, resurrection according to the scriptures for our sins because it's his offering of his blood on the cross and then offering it on the mercy seat in heaven." - Robert Breaker, KNOWING ABOUT THE BLOOD! #knowingabouttheblood #faithintheblood #bloodofjesus #bloodstainedgospel

"It's not the death that saves you. It's how he died and what he did when he rose from the dead. And it's all focused on the blood. For it is the blood that maketh atonement for the soul." - Robert Breaker, KNOWING ABOUT THE BLOOD! #knowingabouttheblood #faithintheblood #bloodofjesus

"And it's not just, as this guy said (he's talking about me!), a mental assent. Oh, I just believe it with my head. It's trusting in it with all of your heart. There's some people out there that believe it with their head, but they've never accepted it with their heart. That's somebody who's not saved." - Faith in the Blood is Faith in the Atoning Work of Jesus! #faithintheblood #atonement #bloodofjesus!, starting at 53:40

November 6, 2025 [Stream Clip] (Robert Breaker & Co.)

Robert Breaker:

...is to confess with their mouth that the Lord is Jesus, or Jesus is the Lord.

Wouldn't that be Israel? So when I read Romans 10, I see Jews asking Paul, "Hey,

what about Israel?" And he says, "Well, if a guy is a Jew and he has confessed

that Jesus is his Lord, that Jesus is his Messiah..."

Joseph Gonzalez: Right.

Robert Breaker: "...and if he believes that God hath raised him from the dead,

well then he can be saved."

Joseph Gonzalez: Right.

Robert Breaker: So if he believes in who and what, then he'll be saved.

Joseph Gonzalez: Right.

Robert Breaker: I don't think he's telling you you have to do both, and that you

have to say with the mouth or you're not saved.

Joseph Gonzalez: Right, right, right.

Robert Breaker: If he's saying you have to believe from your heart in something

and say it with your mouth at the same time, then that would be a

faith-plus-works gospel. And that would nullify what Jesus did, because it's not

just what He did, it's what you say, which would be a work." - Robert Breaker, EP 03 A Random Piece of Steak Podcast CONFESSION (November 6, 2025) https://www.youtube.com/live/2OPYaKyWWKA?t=3907

The above has been deleted :(

Don Nesbitt, the Lord's bloodhound and John Chrysostom agree on how to be saved, and disagree with Robert Breaker on how to be saved and salvation theology.

And Dr. Ruckman agreed with the Lord's bloodhound and Chrysostom too :)
