My Favorite Max Lucado Quotes

Nourishment for the Soul

I don’t often use long quotes, but Max Lucado’s sayings resist editing.  The “You weren’t an accident.” quote is incredibly powerful and so is the one which begins “Our prayers may be awkward.”  Conductor Andrea Vitello leads his orchestra during a performance.

A man who wants to lead the orchestra must turn his back on the crowd. (Max Lucado)           The conductor is Andrea Vitello, of Italy.

A guy, surrounded by a dark, manmade canyon, standing in a strong column of sunlight.

You weren’t an accident. You weren’t mass produced. You aren’t an assembly-line product. You were deliberately planned, specifically gifted, and lovingly positioned on the earth by the Master Craftsman. (Max Lucado)

A young crocodile waiting to ambush prey in the water.

Can you imagine a life with no fear? What if faith, not fear, was your default reaction to threats? (Max Lucado) Of all Max’s quotes, this one has challenged me the most. I have to think about it,  but this idea will be expanded in a future post.

A threatening cloaked and hooded figure stands gazing at the computers functioning in his evil hideout.

Lower your expectations of earth. This isn’t Heaven so don’t expect it to be. (Max Lucado)

A stream rushing through a forest.

Perfect people? No. Perfect messes? You bet. Yet God used them. A surprising and welcome discovery of the Bible is this: God uses failures. (Max Lucado)

A many-petaled purple flower on a black background.

Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference. (Max Lucado)

What the Angels Said — Carol McLeod Ministries

Angels are an intrinsic and dynamic part of the Christmas story. Christmas simply would not have occurred without these God-sent messengers from heaven. We don’t know if the angels were clothed in flowing, white robes, if they had a halo that sparkled, or even if they flew with wings into the Christ

    The Mall or the Manger?

Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.
