Sanctified in Christ Jesus for the Holy City

God is holy and New Jerusalem is “the holy city” (Rev. 21:2, 10). God is sanctifying us, making us holy, to qualify us to be members of this wonderful city.

To be sanctified, to be made holy, is by God working on us and in us with His holy nature. Sanctification is “of the Spirit;” it is NOT to follow a book of regulations about our clothing and behavior. God sanctifies us in two steps: positionally/objectively we are separated unto Him and experientially/subjectively we are saturated with His holy nature.

New JerusalemFirst, by believing into Christ Jesus and receiving His forgiveness of sins we are all “sanctified in Christ Jesus” (1 Cor. 1:2). Second, the Spirit is spreading within us to save us from our old and negative being and transform us into the reality of the new creation.

In 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 “sanctifica-tion of the Spirit and belief of the truth” is “unto the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” This is for the Lord to be glorified in us at His return and ultimately points to New Jerusalem, the city of glory.

More about our sanctification and saturation for the holy city:
The Holy City is Saturated with the Holy God
The Holy City is Separated unto God and also Saturated with God
New Jerusalem is the Holy City

    Sometimes Healing Takes Time

I like instant. I like brewed coffee in a minute or less. I like microwaved leftovers in 45 seconds or less. I like instant text, instant on-line shopping, and instant movies at the click of a button. I’m not a fan of process but would rather have immediate results. One of my favorite words in the New Testament is “immediately.” “Immediately they received their sight” (Matthew 20:34). Read more...
