The importance of personalised messages.

Good day beautiful people

I hope that this post meets you well? I’m currently enjoying some time off work which has given me the opportunity to recuperate, bask in God’s love, and to love on others. Please remember that enjoying rest is NOT a sin! It’s extremely easy for us to feel guilty about doing nothing and by nothing I mean simply giving ourselves a much needed break, we feel like we HAVE to be doing something all the time. Rest is a precious gift from God and if we do not give our bodies the time it needs to heal and reset, we only do ourselves harm. Moving on, today’s post will be focusing on the importance of being intentional and specific within a relationship, as this can lead to a deeper level of intimacy!

Psalm 127:2 ~ It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.

I’m sure that many of us have experienced times where we have sent out a broadcast message or dropped a message on a group chat via WhatsApp and received minimal to no response. And a lot of the time it’s because people believe that the message was not geared towards them even though the sender may have genuinely had those individuals in mind. Lack of direct communication/contact can lead to distancing and a break down in communication, and during Sunday sermon (14/11/2021) the Holy Spirit brought something major to my attention regarding Paul’s letters to the early churches.

When reading the book of Ephesians, Philippians, Galatians etc we see that Paul did not write a generic letter to ALL the churches! The letters were specifically drafted to encourage individuals in areas where they needed to be encouraged/directed. His words were extremely precise and pitched at the right tone to the right audience.

Galatians 1:1-24

Ephesians 1:1-23

Philippians 1:1-11

This shows me that we have to make effort when it comes to understanding those in our lives on a PERSONAL level. Let’s not limit communication to a group chat and only talk about superficial things. Let’s make the effort to find out how people are really doing. Especially for those in positions of leadership within the church or a family setting, the bible says that it’s important to know the state of your flock. We should aspire to think about others and not be selfish. Don’t be afraid to message first, it doesn’t make you the weaker person, in fact it shows that your heart is loving enough to take the necessary steps towards reconciliation and a deeper level of intimacy.

Proverbs 27:10 ~ “Never abandon a friend— either yours or your father’s. When disaster strikes, you won’t have to ask your brother for assistance. It’s better to go to a neighbor than to a brother who lives far away.”

Proverbs 27:23 ~ “Know the state of your flocks, and put your heart into caring for your herds,”
