The Lamb’s Wife Made Herself Ready
The Lord Jesus is coming in glory (Matt. 24:30); this will be a great step toward New Jerusalem “coming down out of heaven from God” (Rev. 21:2).
For His coming the bride, His wife, must be ready. “Let us rejoice and exult, and let us give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” (Rev. 19:7).
The Lord’s coming and the bride’s preparation is portrayed in the parable in Matthew 25:1-13. The making ready in this parable has three steps. First, our lamp must be lit; our human spirit must be regenerated by the Holy Spirit (John 3:5-6).
Second, we must go forth to meet the Bridegroom. This is to leave the world; we still live here but we do not love the world (1 John 2:15-17) and we are not conformed to this age of the world but are transformed by the inner renewing of our mind (Rom. 12:2). This is accomplished by the Spirit in our spirit spreading into our soul for renewing (Titus 3:5).
Third, we need to buy oil to fill our vessel. The price we pay is to deny our self, to lose our soul-life (Matt. 16:24-25).
Loving the Lord Jesus is the key for each step of this preparation unto “the marriage of the Lamb” and eternity in New Jerusalem.
