The Question Beneath Every Question: Do I Matter? - A Nighttime Prayer

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! – 1 John 3:1 (NIV)

Please Pray:

Dear Triune God,

As this day comes to a close, quiet the voices inside my head that tell me I am not enough. Those voices were loud today.

You know how easily my mind can replay failures, regrets, comparisons, and fears. You know the stories I tell myself when I forget who I am. Help me remember that not every voice deserves my attention. Help me recognize your voice above all the others.

Your voice does not shame me. Your voice does not demand that I prove myself. Your voice does not make me earn my place.

Your voice reminds me that I am loved, I am known, and I belong.

Help me rest in the truth that I matter because you say I matter.

When shame tells me I must earn love, remind me that I am already loved.

When fear tells me I will never be enough, remind me that I already belong.

When comparison tells me I need to become someone else, remind me that you intentionally created me.

Tonight, let me rest in the security of being your child.

I do not have to prove I matter. I do not have to earn belonging. I do not have to inflate my own worth.

I can simply receive your love.

I declare that I want to simply receive your love.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
