Transformation from Glory to Glory

Christ in us is our hope of glory (Col. 1:27). The full manifestation of this glory is a process. It begins with our believing in the Lord Jesus, allowing Him to come into us to be our new life. The process continues throughout our Christian life until He “will transfigure the body of our humiliation to be conformed to the body of His glory” (Phil. 3:21).

New JerusalemReceiving the Lord as our Savior and thereby being born again is quick. Similarly, His visible coming and our transfiguration is brief. Between these is our entire Christian life with the Lord spreading throughout our soul. This is to be conformed to the image of God’s Son (Rom. 8:29), to have Christ formed in us (Gal. 4:19).

This gradual change is “the renewing of the Holy Spirit” in us (Tit. 3:5). This requires our cooperation including turning our heart to the Lord (2 Cor. 3:16) and beholding Him with an unveiled face (3:18). When we behold Him in such a way, we also reflect Him.

Through beholding and reflecting, we “are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory” (3:18). This is “from the Lord Spirit” operating in us. Although this glory is not visible physically, it is spreading in us and will come forth at the transfiguration of our bodies. This glory will be fully manifested through all of us together in New Jerusalem.
