Worship or Worry?

Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness -- Psalm 29:2 (NKJV)
Everyone has an opportunity to worry. Our lives can quickly become stressful. There are obligations to fulfill and trials to overcome. Still, our Father did not create us to live consumed by anxiety. Instead, we are called to cast our care and worship the Lord. This approach may seem simplistic, but it is Biblical. When we submit to scripture, God’s Word works.
Worship is powerful, shifting our perspective from daily stressors to God’s infinite power. With each outpouring of song, praise, or offering comes the opportunity to clear our minds and enter God’s presence. Worship minimizes our capacity for negative thoughts as we fill our hearts and minds with praise. The outward demonstrations that honor our Father not only please Him but are also rewarded with His blessings.
Worship places our attention onto our Healer, Way Maker, Counselor, and Protector. As we show reverence for the Lord, it reminds us to trust God with our concerns and depend on Him for the answers we need.
In contrast, worry magnifies doubt and insecurities. It dictates that we solve our problems instead of relying on direction from the Lord. Worry demands control whereas worship surrenders concern. Worry ruminates inwardly and emerges as fear. Worship extends outward creating an atmosphere that fuels faith and manifests miracles.
We can choose to ruminate on our problems or acknowledge God’s authority. This shift in behavior allowed me to reduce my frustrations while raising a special needs child, birthing a business, and gaining the confidence necessary to learn new skills later in life.
Our Father is omnipotent, but He also allows us free will. We decide daily if we will manifest life or death with the words we speak. We also elect to either worship or worry.
Choose wisely.

Questions for Reflection:
1. Are you tempted to worry about a situation you are facing?
2. What steps can you take to replace worry with worship?
