Your Soul Needs Advent This Christmas Season - A Nighttime Prayer

She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid Him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them. – Luke 2:7 (NLT)

    Please Pray:

Dear Triune God, I love the Christmas season. I hate the Christmas season. My soul needs the rest and the waiting of Advent. As I light the candle of hope, I embrace the darkness because God is still at work and that gives me hope. As I light the candle of peace, I embrace the waiting because I trust God for the larger story. As I light the candle of joy, I embrace the fear and the feasting because joy is more than the circumstances. As I light the candle of love, I pause to remember the depth of love that you have for me—through it all, through every season. In this moment of slowness, I breathe and see the beauty of Advent. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
