Don’t Be Afraid Anymore

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

There are some reading this now who are very much afraid. The hardest trials are those that can’t be talked about with anyone else.

Often, unpleasant thoughts seek to occupy as soon as we awake. Resistance flies away and then comes anxiety and dread flooding our soul with despair. Hours and days pass without relief. Exhausted, my soul cries out, how long Lord? But peace feels far away and unattainable.

Take heart fellow pilgrim. You’re not alone. There are others suffering the same and know exactly how you feel. (1 Peter 5:9) More importantly, Jesus gives you His peace, so do not be afraid anymore.

Peace and fear can’t be in the same room at the same time. Do not grow weary in the battle but be encouraged filling your mind with His word:

So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you… (Isaiah 41:10)

You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. (Isaiah 26:3)

He did not give us a spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by My name. You are Mine. (Isaiah 43:1)

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil. He shall preserve your soul. (Psalm 121:7)

We are called to suffer and share in being comforted by our Lord. Praise to our God who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

Someone will cross your path one day. You will understand exactly how they feel and be their help from God.

Lord, enable us by Your Spirit to fill our minds and hearts with your truths. Thank you for giving us peace and delivering us from the darkness into your marvelous light! “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:19
