New Jerusalem has a Wonderful Wall

(Photo: Pexels)

New Jerusalem has “a great and high wall” (Rev. 21:12) and an angel “measured its wall, a hundred and forty-four cubits” high (21:17).

Revelation 21:12 tells us that the wall is great and high for separation unto God and for the protection of God’s interest. The height of the wall is one hundred forty-four cubits. A cubit is approximately eighteen inches, so on that basis the wall would be two hundred sixteen feet high. Also, Revelation tells us that the wall is twelve thousand stadia long. Since one stadion is approximately six hundred feet, the wall is approximately one thousand three hundred and sixty-four miles long….No wall on earth can compare with the wall of the New Jerusalem.*

New JerusalemPlease remember that this wall is a spiritual sign. Revelation 21:18 tells us “the building work of its wall was jasper.” The wall is built with the believers transformed by the Spirit. What the Spirit works into us becomes our separation, our sanctification, from the world and the protection of God’s interest in us.

The Lord Jesus prayed for this in John 17, “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.” Our experiences of the Spirit’s sanctification now and the wall of New Jerusalem are both answers to this prayer.
