Another Chance

We hide it all we want, yet we know that no matter how good we paint our feelings all black so no one gets to figure out the real colour, we want more.

We want to be held. We want to be loved. We want to be looked out for by someone, anyone. We want love, yet we feel skeptical when it comes in better ways than we’ve ever imagined or thought it would. We walk around believing that because this love is too good, it can’t be real, or this person could just be messing with your head and life.

Some of us agree it’s for us when we beg for the love, when the love comes packaged with dishonesty and disrespect, and when it’s like every other mistake you’ve gotten involved with in the past. We feel uncomfortable when it doesn’t turn sour over the time, because well, others turned sour.

You want to open up, yet you want to stay closed.
You want to reach out, yet not show you’re actually reaching out.
You want to love, yet you make a mental note to keep a huge chunk of your heart in the safe box somewhere so when the other part gets shattered, you’ll have something to hold on to, something to make you feel strong and sensible.

Dear you, you wouldn’t experience love fully if you keep holding back the capacity you’ve got to truly show someone what it means to be in love.
Yes, we all want something real, and the fact that we want something genuine so bad isn’t a criterion for something genuine to come. Some people have got very bad experiences more times than they can even remember, so they just feel it’s okay to keep some part locked in. I’m sorry, but it’s not right to judge the rest of the world based on your experiences with some persons.

The fact that we know what we want, but not in charge of how to deposit such love in the souls of people, gives us reason enough to have honest fears and doubts about everyone we meet.
The fact that we doubt it wouldn’t give it a chance to live or grow.

I want you to put some things in place, and that comes with you constantly reminding yourself that you’re an awesome person and you deserve everything good.
You deserve love. (C’mon, you’re Royalty. You’re part of God’s Kingdom.)
You deserve peace of mind.
You deserve loving and honest friends.

Keep reminding yourself of everything you deserve and they’ll come to you, maybe not in ways you’ve programmed your mind and heart to perceive such things, but they’ll come.

You’ve been hurt, find healing.
You’ve been disappointed? Doesn’t mean you’ll shut everyone out.
Everything happens for a reason. Just go through the lecture, understand what you’ve been taught and move on towards the next big thing life presents.

It shouldn’t take your smile.
It doesn’t have any right to steal your joy.
It shouldn’t creep slowly into your life and make you judge the love and trust of people in your life.
It shouldn’t take your happiness away.
It shouldn’t take your ability to do what you love doing.
It shouldn’t make you resent living in this earth which God has made available for you.

This Earth belongs to God, and he has put you in charge of it, don’t let it orchestrate your life and tell you when you should smile or cry or jump or dance or be happy.

If you’ve not gotten an ‘I love you’ today, here’s one from me. You’re important to God, this earth and yourself, so please keep that smile.
I love you.

N.b : I’m starting a series on my blog titled ‘Dear Royalty,’ I’m excited about this one, well, because it blessed me and it’s still blessing me. I’d love you to be a part of it.
