Reading Bible verses on being faithful helps us repel the temptations that ruin our marriage.

God takes faithfulness and fidelity seriously, integral to His divine character. God created us in His likeness. Genesis 1:27 reads: “So God created mankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

This likeness with God entails staying true to one another, our ideals, our country, our spouses, and Him. Sadly, when sin entered the picture, we all chose to rebel, turning away from Him.

Disloyalty: Breaking the sacred bond

“But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” – Matthew 5:28

God has designed a wonderful union intended for husband and wife—its essentiality is reflected in the marriage bond between Christ and the church.

Society’s changing norms and landscape seemingly make adultery and marital infidelity acceptable.

According to the General Social Survey of the Institute for Family Studies, “men are more likely to cheat than women, with 20% of men and 13% of women reporting having sex with someone other than their partner while still married.”

This appalling statistic is expected to go higher as time moves forward. As we approach the end of times, the love of the self continues to magnify as we put more value on our pleasures and possessions that defy the will of the Lord. God is mocked.

Loyalty is a precious quality in all forms of relationships of faithful spouses. Utmost fidelity is required in relating with God, our friends, and our spouses.

It’s easy to commit an act that breaks trust, but the consequences are much direr when labeled ‘infidelity.’ This term is often used for fraudulent, sinful activities such as lying, cheating, or making the wrong choice. Infidelity means quite merely- unfaithfulness.

Being loyal to somebody involves being honest, reliable, and supportive of them at every turn. We might not always honor God in this way, but He remains faithful to us no matter what we do.

Unfortunately, society usually tries to shrug off any notion of faithfulness; however, the Bible makes it abundantly clear. God wants us to remain faithful to Him and others, especially our spouses.

What counts as infidelity or having an affair?

Here are the acts that can count as infidelity:

Physical intimacy

Physical intimacy with someone other than one’s spouse, such as kissing, hugging, or sexual contact

Online relationships

Having an online relationship that involves flirting, sexting, or exchanging explicit photos or videos with someone other than one’s spouse.

Secret keeping

Time and attention

Spending significant time with someone other than one’s wife or husband, such as regularly meeting for lunch or dinner dates.

Staying loyal: The essential steps

Loyalty breeds faith, resilience, courage, and happiness.

When a couple stays loyal to each other, they comprehend the temporal nature of our fallen lives and see eternity with Christ. We realize the security of eternity on how we remain loyal and obedient to our Master. In the same manner, marital fidelity pleases God.

Here are the basic steps to follow on how to strengthen your marriage relationship:

  • Pray together.
  • Read Bible verses on being faithful.
  • Maintain open communication.
  • Enjoy life together.

God’s faithfulness and mercy: The Adulterous Woman

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” – John 8:11

One day, while Jesus was teaching in the temple, a group of Pharisees and teachers of the law brought a woman to Him who had been caught committing adultery. They asked Jesus what should be done with her, reminding Him that the Law of Moses commanded that such a woman be stoned to death.

Jesus, knowing their intention to trap Him, stooped down and began writing on the ground with his finger. When they kept asking the Lord, He stood up and said, “Let any one of you without sin be the first to throw a stone at her” (Matthew 8:7). He then stooped down again and continued writing on the ground.

The crowd began to leave one by one until only Jesus and the woman remained. Jesus asked her where her accusers were and whether anyone had condemned her. When she replied that no one had, Jesus said to her to leave her life of sin.

The story of the woman caught in adultery in the Bible is a gripping account of infidelity and the unmatched forgiveness of God.

Today, the world is inundated by a myriad of sins of adultery and unfaithfulness in marriage. If the sin of adultery and its biblical punishment were still prevalent, millions of people would die each year because of stoning.

The story of the Adulterous Woman highlights Jesus’ message of forgiveness and compassion, as well as his refusal to condemn or judge others. It also emphasizes the importance of examining our flaws before passing judgment on others. Moreover, it underscores our weak nature and the vast challenges confronting us as sinful and mortal men.

Disloyalty begins in the mind as the Devil roams around, ready to lure us into his kingdom of darkness,

The sins of adultery, abortion, same-sex marriage, and transgenderism have assaulted our moral landscape and the sanctity of our marriage and faith. The grotesque distortion of our holiness resembles the horrification of Sodom and Gomorrah.

But God is good and faithful. Despite our lingering sins and wretchedness, He is always ready to forgive us if we approach Him in humility and heartfelt repentance.

Loyalty must be nurtured, but disloyalty can be repaired. God has written Bible verses on being faithful to guide and remind us about the sanctity of marriage. The Devil flees when we put God in the center of our married lives.
