Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

-Psalm 23:4, KJV

You cannot go back.

Time does not work that way.

You cannot un-know what you now know.

Knowledge does not work that way.

You cannot un-see what you saw.

It just doesn’t work that way.

I remember driving a major highway back in the early days of my divorce from my cheater. My heart wanted it all to be a bad dream. Driving that highway set off reminders of “better” times.

The reality is that this is not an unusual to feel:

The only way to heal from the losses is to go through the grieving process. Acknowledge the real injustices. See the losses. Face the reality that things will be changing as they already have.

However, the Psalmist reminds us that as we walk through the valley of death that we are never alone. God walks with us. And He is a Good Shepherd who cares for our hurts and needs.
