Christ in Us, Our Hope of Glory

New JerusalemHebrews 11:1 tells us, “faith is the substantiation of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” We do not try to convince ourselves to hope nor do we imagine something. our hope is solid because it comes from God with faith as the substantiation/ assurance/confidence* of this hope..

Colossians 1:27 declares that “Christ in you” is “the hope of glory.” This hope is not from ourselves; Christ Himself in us fills us with hope which points to the coming glory which points to New Jerusalem as the eternal glory.

Christ is our hope today. Throughout our Christian life, this Christ is spreading in our being and saturating us with Himself. At His return He will “will transfigure the body of our humiliation to be conformed to the body of His glory” (Phil. 3:21). Christ in us as our hope of glory will become Christ shining out through us as glory.

Colossians 1:27 also proclaims that “God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery.” The mystery is God’s eternal purpose, which has been hidden in Him from eternity and revealed in spirit in the New Testament age.

Christ is the glory of this mystery. Ephesians 3:8 speaks of “the unsearchable riches of Christ.” We need to see much more of the riches of Christ now to further encourage us and to strengthen our faith and hope. yet, no matter how much we see, New Jerusalem will show us more.
