God’s Power in Christ

Power of God

Read Ephesians 1:15-23

Three things stand out in these passages:

  • The Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him (Ephesians 1:17)
  • Eyes of the heart enlightened (Ephesians 1:18)
  • Know the immeasurable greatness of His power (Ephesians 1:19)

The Lord gives us something unattainable by the “once born”. We’re given the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know Him. We’re granted enlightenment with the eyes of our heart. The secret things of God are better seen from the heart.

Power

The power of God is invisible to save, sustain, and sanctify. It was seen by human eyes in the life of Christ and His resurrection. He is now seated at the right hand of God.

By the power of God, Christ has ruled and authority over us. So, whether we accept it or not, He is sovereign. Christ is far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion. His name is named above all naves now and forever without end. All things, absolutely all things, have been placed under His authority.

Headship

Such power works today in the Church, and God gave Christ headship over all things in the Church — His body, the fullness of Him who fills all things.

Christ’s use of power and authority is always in the best interest of His people. He powerfully blesses us through deliverance from death to life. We are no longer aliens in a foreign land, but exiles on the way to the promised land.

He is changeless. His love endures forever. May you treasure the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know Him in the power of His great love.

Read Psalm 107 below and watch what great power and love God showed in the past for those who called on Him. This power is still here today and will be in the future. The God who delivers is powerful to deliver completely. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good.

Psalm 107

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say this — those He redeemed from the hand of the foe, those He gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.

Power to Lead and Sustain

Some wandered in desert wasteland, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.

He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

Power to Set Free

Some sat in darkness and the deepest gloom, prisoners suffering in iron chains. They had rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High. He subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and deepest gloom and broke away their chains.

Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men, for He breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron.

Power to Heal

Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He sent forth His word and healed them from the grave.

Give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men. Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of His works with songs of joy.

Power to Save

Others went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters. They saw the works of the LORD, His wonderful deeds in the deep. For He spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril, their courage melted away. They reeled and staggered like drunken men; they were at their wits’ end. They cried out to the LORD in their trouble and brought them out of their distress.

He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and He guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men. Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the people and praise Him in the council of the elders.

Power To Curse or Bless

He turned rivers into a desert, flowing springs into thirsty ground and fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who lived there.

He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs; there He brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle. They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; He blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and He did not let their herds diminish.

Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled by oppression, calamity and sorrow; He who pours contempt on nobles made them wander in a trackless waste. But He lifted the needy of their affliction and increased their families like a flock.

The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths.

Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation

Whoever is wise, let him heed these things and consider the great love of the LORD.

Conclusion

We are a blessed people because Christ is Lord and Savior. We have spiritual blessings in Christ and the power of His love. Furthermore, we are blessed to know Him and live with Him in the power of His love. Let us give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, and His mercy endures forever — without end.

Amen!

    The Mall or the Manger?

Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.
