Good day beautiful people

I hope that you’re all doing well today? I pray that the peace of God which surpasses all human understanding rests upon your minds. If you’re new to CLAGOH welcome and I hope that you enjoy reading through our new series called ‘How to live the best life’. Today’s post will be focusing on the importance of ORGANISATION and is the third part to the series.

Luke 14:28 ~ “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?”

Proverbs 21:5 ~ “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.”

^^^I just want to clarify that we mustn’t forget that not everyone will be rich in terms of having multiple assessts and having a lot of money in the bank. But in Christ we are rich, because we have access to peace, unlimited joy, and unconditional love. We also have the promise that God will provide us with what we need. When researching into the meaning of the word prosperity, the words comfort and security were noted to be similar in meaning. This tells me that when you plan well you are more likely to feel secure and comforted, because you would’ve taken the necessary steps needed to stay productive, and avoid the consequences of laziness.

Recently I’ve been hearing the phrase ‘work smart’ a lot, and I think working smart is not so much of a bad idea. Pondering over the phrase led me to reflect over my own life choices in order to see how I can implement changes that will REDUCE my stress levels, and increase my happiness and productivity (improve my overall well-being). And today I will be sharing my discovered gems/tips with you!

Some useful tips

Stop trying to do everything at the same time: Don’t take on too much all at once, otherwise you’ll end up stressed or annoyed and something will have to give way. Take one step at a time and take each day at a time, as this will enable you to do one task very well, instead of doing four tasks very poorly.

Ecclesiastes 5:3 ~ Too much activity gives you restless dreams; too many words make you a fool.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 ~ Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.

Get a diary (TRUST me it helps): Diaries or phone planners/reminders can help you remember birthdays and important appointments! Basically writing things down or making notes can help you plan better, resulting in a more organised life. This will help you with planning WHEN exactly to take annual leave (time off work 😌).

Be strategic when booking time off work: It helps when you have a diary so you get to know when all the bank holidays are, and can take leave around those days resulting in you having longer weekends and somewhat stretching your annual leave. Learn to book in advance and even if you don’t get your leave approved at least you tried and can immediately plan when to book your next days off. If you’re like me and like to take time off in blocks so you can travel, remember to save a few days to take off here and there so you don’t burnout. I’d strongly advice for one to take a few days off at least 1-2 other than having weekends free, every 2-3 months minimum!

Genesis 2:2-3 ~ “On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.”

^^^Remember rest is a blessing from God!

Don’t feel guilty about resting: Sometimes when we take time off work we schedule lots of exciting activities to do, or catch up on tasks around the house, and when we do go back to work we feel tired from all the extracurricular activities we got up to. Sometimes it’s necessary to DO NOTHING.

Don’t feel guilty for saying no: One time a well meaning colleague said I should stay to cover a shift as the department was short staffed, and I should do so because I don’t have kids (I also know he wanted me to stay because he enjoys working with me… Just in case you didn’t know I’m a very cool person to work with 😬). I immediately told him that just because I don’t have any kids yet doesn’t mean that I don’t have a life and that my life doesn’t revolve around work. Don’t get yourself trapped into covering multiple shifts because you feel bad. Remember that you only get one body, and some companies can be very quick to replace staff who are injured, work doesn’t stop for sick members of staff. A simple no is better than waffling and trying to explain yourself, and falling into the trap of being coerced into working when you don’t desire too.

Matthew 5:37 ~ All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

Do your research before starting a project or making a life altering commitment: This may take time to do but in the long run can save you time and money caused from having to deal with the consequences of sorting out a mess made from making a decision in haste. This is why the bible informs us to calculate the costs before starting to build. Doing adequate research will help you identify wether you are willing to make certain sacrifices or compromises in your life, which you may not have been aware of pre investigation.

Go to sleep early: As mentioned in the last post sleep is extremely important for a persons overall health. Going to bed early and waking up early provides us with a better chance of being more productive throughout the day. We will be better able to make plans and set realistic goals rather than spending most of the day fighting off fatigue and exhaustion due to lack of sleep. Going to bed on time is actually part of good organisation! If you’re disorganised and your mind is disoriented you’re less likely to enjoy peace and rest.

Take everything to The Lord in prayer: Nothing is too insignificant to talk to God about. Pray to God to direct you to the right store so you can get just what you need that will be beneficial to you as well as those around you. God has the power to show you the exact products you need to help improve your well-being (from food to supplements, hair products, skin products etc). Pray to God to lead you to the right company to join for work, ask God to guide your footsteps to the church He desires for you to attend and the people He wants you to befriend. Commit EVERYTHING to God. Daily communication with God is SO important because it is only in God’s presence that you can enjoy true rest and peace. We may have ideas and plans but God has seen the end from the beginning and knows exactly what path we should follow which we lead us to living fulfilled lives.

Proverbs 16:3 ~ Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Proverbs 19:21 ~ Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Matthew 11:28 ~ “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Isaiah 26:3 ~ You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Philippians 4:6 ~ Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

I hope you found today’s post useful, and I pray that you’ll experience true peace and joy which can only be found in Christ Jesus. If you have any other tips which we can learn from and implement in our lives please leave a comment on this post. And join us next week for the fourth part to our series as we continue to unravel more ways to practically help us live our best life.

God bless
