I Have Set My Bow

I stand on the true meaning and purpose of the rainbow regardless of what the culture promotes. For the LORD God said in Genesis 9:13-15; "I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh." As a follower of Christ, I am not saying that I'm reclaiming nor taking back the rainbow on God's behalf. No! For it is no one else's but His in the first place as He has declared; "I have set MY bow..." It is His bow, not anyone else's. In fact when the Apostle John was brought before the very throne room of the LORD in heaven, he wrote; "And he [God] who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a RAINBOW that had the appearance of an emerald." – Revelation 4:3 I imagine John groping for words to describe what his finite mind could barely handle but by inspiration was guided by the Holy Spirit to use "rainbow" to picture the overwhelming sight of the glory of God. While meditating on the LORD's purpose in creating the rainbow as a sign of His covenant to mankind for all generations, my mind was led to the symbol of the cross. If we Christians find it sacrilegious seeing the cross disrespected, why aren't we reacting when the rainbow is being redefined against God's original intent? If we've allowed ourselves to be too tolerant of what society dictates and have become desensitized to what clearly is unChristian, then may the LORD forgive us. But after repenting and turning away from our compromises, may we – by God's grace – strive to; work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, that we may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom we shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life. – Philippians 2:12b, 15-16a. This is not to say that we should hate those who have opposing views, to the contrary we are commanded by the Lord Jesus to love them. However in doing so, may they also see Christ in us and His gospel – not just proclaimed but – lived out among them. Hoping and praying that our witness may be used by the Father to draw people to His Son from whose throne the bow of God's majesty eminates. GOD bless you... + jourNics 2023-06-08 Image by Freepik
