New Heaven, New Earth, Righteousness

Peter tells us, “according to His promise we are expecting new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13). Outwardly the old creation, which became old because of the fall of man, is the New Jerusalemterritory of the devil (Luke 4:6). He is a liar, the father of lies, and a murderer (John 8:44). Hence the old creation does not have righteousness.

The incarnation, human living, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ destroyed the devil (Heb. 2:14). Today He, as the Spirit, is renewing us. At the end of time the entire creation will be renewed. “The heavens will pass away with a roar, and the elements, burning with intense heat, will be dissolved, and the earth and the works in it will be burned up” (2 Peter 3:10).

This will be “the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens, being on fire, will be dissolved, and the elements, burning with intense heat, are to be melted away” (2 Peter 3:12). Then there will be “a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away” (Rev. 21:1).

Today, inwardly we are in the kingdom of God which is “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 14:17). At that time the kingdom of God will have come in full and the entire creation will have “righteousness and peace and joy.” Wonderful!

What the Angels Said — Carol McLeod Ministries

Angels are an intrinsic and dynamic part of the Christmas story. Christmas simply would not have occurred without these God-sent messengers from heaven. We don’t know if the angels were clothed in flowing, white robes, if they had a halo that sparkled, or even if they flew with wings into the Christ

    The Mall or the Manger?

Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.
